Come on - things like this article on "jail house snitches" are nothing new.  In fact, this computer system keeping track of "confidential informants" out of Orange County has been used by not only California police, sheriff's, cops, and DA's, but also Nevada's.

You can verify this as fact right here -  This shows there's even files on "porn stars" in this database system.

I want you to now put yourself in my shoes here for a moment.   Read up on Chris Butler.  This  is a man who was not only a retired respected cop from Orange County, but also who was running a private investigative agency where he specialized in pretty female detectives who would go out and tempt your husband to see if he'd cheat on you.  He also owned massage parlors and trafficked women.  Using other active duty cops, they would steal drugs from the evidence rooms.  Then use the prostitutes to resell the drugs they transported in cop cars in evidence bags if stopped.

Now ask yourself - how would you get away from that if you were one of those prostitutes?  Who would you call?  Keep in mind this man is now running the top private investigative agency in the country with active duty cops on his rolodex who also have access to this computer full of snitches also.  Further in cases like this where the victim is a 14 year old - as a minor if she suddenly goes missing heads are going to roll.  But with adult hookers turning up missing every day and no one giving one damn - ask yourself what other group out there tells women like those who were being trafficked to Chris Butler, and those other cops, that we have a way out for you that's safe and you'll come out alive?

Why would we even want to set up such a system for these types of adult victims?  Margo Compton sums up that desire -

Now if you run from a trafficking operation like this - don't you think those cops are going to turn to snitches for help to find you?  Meaning that if you turn to someone who is in the sex industry - you might get ratted out.  Snitches by the way are nothing new.  In my day, I was only one of a list which included Heidi Fleiss who found themselves being arrested and jacked up by not only the FBI, but also corrupt cops by Alex Adams - the woman known for years as the "Beverly Hills Madam".

On one hand Alex was feeding information to the FBI on people like myself - which kept her at the top of the industry for years as a madam.  I'd venture to say the FBI was actually in reality her guard dogs who attacked "competitors".  Because who do you think active madams, pimps and drug dealers feed to law enforcement?  Their friends?  Hell no - their competitors are usually the first line.  Now if this was just feeding information it's one thing.  But Alex actually set me up.

Minding my own business - I met her when I got a phone call offering a little "white" scam she had cooked up where clients could sell their credit cards for cash.  Let us shop on the cards and then they could report them stolen after we had maxed them out.  She said because we were going in with the customers' consent - therefore if we got nabbed the card owner would simply vouch we had his permission and no one would get hurt.  She offered me something like $1000 for each card with  $3000 limit.  This was also in 1984 when the heat was on with VICE and I was looking for ways to make money besides escorting.  To do me a "favor" she suckers me into this card scam.

Assuring me insurance covered this and no one was going to get arrested - she hands me this scheme and offers to buy cards from me.  I knew plenty of men who wanted cash their wives and bosses didn't know about or what they were paying for with their money interested in some extra cash they could spend as they wished.  Especially with the drug epidemic raging of the 80's.  In no time I had something like 20 credit cards burning a hole in my pocket.

I called her up and told her I had the cards.  She told me to "come on up" to the house where I was greeted by a bunch of cops where one slammed me into into a wall when the door opened and pointed a  9mm up my nose.  His pupils were so tiny I could just tell the dude was jacked up on some kind of speed.  I could tell if I twitched this guy would blow my head off.  So he carts me off to jail for credit card fraud - only none of my clients would press charges.  They all said I had their cards by consent and the case was dropped.

The cops made a big show about arresting her when they arrested me but I knew good and well all she had to do was tip me off and I wouldn't have gone over there thinking I was going to make a deal.  I also saw they let hear keep wearing my coat when they put her in a separate cell from me.  I knew I was "had" then.

Funny thing is I tried warning Heidi Fleiss for YEARS Alex was a "snitch".  She just brushed me off, called me "paranoid" and well we all saw what happened when Alex snitched her out years later.  Not only did Heidi get arrested, but so did the women working for her and her parents.   Heidi just couldn't believe that Alex was a snitch because she was "so nice to her".  Heidi was being "mentored" by Alex back then when I first met her.  I felt like saying "what you think snitches get their information by being assholes?"  I fell for it myself thinking that she had called me wanting to be "friends" and "sisters in the sex industry" and all that other crap I fell for out of her she ran on me to convince me to come up to the house for coffee, to be friends, and then to set me up.

When you see someone arrested, then totally promoting themselves about town without fear in the public eye - something's wrong.  Everyone in Los Angeles knew who Alex was - yet she's only popped over this credit card scam?  Baloney.  She was a paid informant for YEARS.  I was arrested in 1984 because of her and Heidi wasn't arrested until 1991.  Meaning Alex operated for YEARS as a madam while being a snitch.

Did the police offer to make me a snitch when they arrested me?  Sure they did.  Don't think it didn't cross my mind.  It's a tempting offer to be told you can do whatever you want in the sex industry and you're not only not going to go to jail - but you might even get a whole side income off the snitch work.  To live like Alex was quite tempting - but I'd seen how cops treat their snitches and I wasn't interested.  I also wasn't going to betray women out there I knew were already being betrayed in many ways by their pimps, their customers, society, etc.

That's what the snitch against Rick "Freeway" Ross found himself in the middle of.  His snitch was pulling down $40,000 a year just to be a snitch and set Rick up.  It worked.  He threatened to kill someone that was Rick's friend is he didn't go back to drug sales.  Then Rick got popped for life.  He's out now - but it took a lot of time and money to do so.

Now Alex didn't side up to me in a jail cell.  Nor Heidi.  After Cheri Woods and I "retired" from the industry in 1984 - Alex took Heidi under her wing and "mentored" her to take our place.  Heidi decided she wanted it all - to edge even Alex out.  Again, we saw what happened when her arrest was plastered all over the internet.  But realize Alex was a snitch working for YEARS as a madam back in the 1980's  Now there's so many informants they have a computer system to keep track of them!

Informants come in all kinds of sizes.  I have been told there are people who go into NA meetings just looking for addicts who have insurance. They then talk them into an insurance billing scam where some get caught and arrested.  Some go into treatment programs and literally offer an addict money to go check into another program.  Meaning there are some people posing as addicts right now in a residential treatment program who are only there for "marketing" purposes.

I once saw a trafficking victim hiding out in a suicide ward in ND from a pimp she'd escaped in Los Angeles.  That pimp actually got another one of this prostitutes to slash her wrists just to get herself put into the same suicide ward - where she then threatened this first victim her family would be killed if she didn't check out of the hospital and come back to the pimp.  I remember the hospital staff told me I was "crazy" when I warned them to be on alert for another girl coming in shortly after the first one with a staged suicide attempt.  They weren't laughing when they called to tell me she'd checked in and then threatened the victim the pimp was sitting right in front of the hospital in his car waiting for her to come out.  He was on a public street so no one could make him move legally either.  We smuggled that victim out of the hospital in a morgue bag.  Then dressed her up as a man to smuggle her home safely.  When we flew her into Omaha airport - we saw the pimps walking around the airport with her photo.  There is a network where traffickers, and cops, can be viewing every airport at the same time when they're trying to find someone who is trying to escape.  I'm saying this because I want you to understand how hard it is for someone like Chris Butler to find their way out of being under his thumb - without being found and drug back or worse.

If you were a trafficker, and you knew that once victims were helped by Sex Workers Anonymous, you weren't going to get them back again - wouldn't a logical move be to try and make sure no one calls them for help?  Now how would you do that?  Tell your victim "don't call them"?  Or maybe a smear campaign might be more effective.

On top of informants, and snitches, and "marketing" recruiters, there are people whose job is  nothing but smear campaigns.  Witness what happened with KFC who is now suing some marketing companies in China for spreading rumors they were selling "deep fried rats" and also "genetically engineered chickens with 8 legs" and such.  So here we have "fake" customers trying to convince you not to buy KFC chicken.

While some "influencers" are talking you out of buying a product like KFC are found is true, there are others using these fake people to talk you into buying something.  Witness the lawsuits over this marketing tactic uncovered -

Is this just Amazon, Fivvr, Yelp and KFC where we find fake reviews, fake customers, false claims of deep fried rats in their lunch, etc.?

I'm talking about this whole thing for a couple of reasons.  In the field I'm in of helping adults to go through the exit process from sex work and to also address sex trafficking victims within the industry from the point of view of having "been there done that" - there was no "federal recognition" of this as even "real" until the passing of the Trafficking Act of 2000.  Meaning there wasn't one thin red dime to be found in this field.  Everything we did and do is done on my dime - no one else's.

Trust me - hookers leaving the sex industry are always broke.  So there was no money to be made.  There was no federal grants.  There were no fund raisers.  I had to give away our Recovery Guides to our members because no one ever has money coming into our program.  Because it's illegal to accept money from someone working in prostitution - we have a policy not to even pass a basket at a meeting so we don't wind up being charged with felony pimping.

Now let me ask you something - when people accuse me of entering this field "to make myself a buck" if money was my sole motivation wouldn't I just go back to sex work where I was making $30,000 a week in cash off the books in the 1980's?  Why if all I wanted as money would I have spent from 1984 when I turned a warehouse into a safe house for adults on my own dime, then opened up a hotline in 1987 with an 800 number which back then meant I had to rent an office for $150 a month, then install a business line which cost me another $125 a month plus $1.00 a minute for each call, (this was before the internet, VOIP, cell phones, etc.), pay over $5,000 just to print up our Recovery Guides in 1992, and then spent years from the 1980's until the passing of the Trafficking Act of 2000 doing all of this on my own dime- why then would I spend over $400,000 of my own money to start and run our program and hotline on some possibility of being able to "make a buck" in this work today?

Can anyone explain the logic to me of that reasoning?  Especially when right now I'm not holding a fund raiser, not applying for a grant, don't have a kickstarter campaign, nor am I going to nor have I.  So where if I'm "doing this for money" am I going to get this mythical money?  I'm making it as a snitch?  That would be fun considering I don't ask people's names when they call the hotline, nor where they live.  I tell members at meetings not to tell us their name, where they work, who they ran with or how much money they made.  Yeah I'm really rolling in information here.

However, if you look at groups like SWOP - you have to (1) get someone to vouch you're a sex worker, or you have to show them your porn photos, and (2) you pay them a membership fee which not only tells them your IP address and email but also gives them your banking information.  So let me ask you something - who is more likely to be gathering information on you being in ILLEGAL prostitution or knowledge of your illegal activities along with information on where you live, your bank information where you process your money, or a program like ours who doesn't collect any money nor even asks you to give them a name?

Why would anyone be trying to get information on sex workers in the USA?  First, there is not only LITERALLY MILLIONS OF DOLLARS now to be made in the field of sex trafficking, but there's also now political power.  Our country just passed a Trafficking Act for 1.5 BILLION to set up trafficking centers in other countries -

If there's power to be had - there's going to be a lobbyist.  The legal brothels in Nevada have a lobbyist.  They've had the same one for 20 years.  They've also been trying to get expanded into California and Las Vegas since the 1980's is why they have a lobbyist.  Remember, Joe Conforte gave $1,000,000 to  PR firm in California to try and help him change the laws so he could open legal brothels in California.  So guess where you might find someone with an interest in faked media?  Me?  Or them?  I'm not trying to change or pass any laws right now.  I'm not a politician or a prosecutor or even an attorney.  I'm not a celebrity who gets paid by how many clicks I get on my website.  The ONLY media I go after seeking is media to let those who might need our help know how to reach us.

People after political power use the media to gain that power.  If there is not political power right now in this work - then explain to me why the Cupcake Girls also now has a lobbyist?  Let's again be logical.  The Cupcake Girls says they are basically trying to "show strippers the love of Christ" and to "save sex trafficking victims".  So why would they hire a paid lobbyist?

A lobbyist who also represents Live Nation.  A side note - Live Nation, another group who shares this lobbyist with the Cupcake Girls also produces concerts with Snoop Dogg.  Snoop Dogg who confessed to trafficking prostitutes during his whole 2003 Playboy tour and for who I set up  Now I ask you WHY does a group to help trafficking victims share a lobbyist who is part of a group that is making money with an admitted trafficker?

And you're going to lose this little factoid - when we do outreach in Vegas to the strippers we try and do so with HIV education and testing.  Then the Cupcake Girls stepped in with their make-overs, their free coffee, their free cupcakes, and their oh so sweet disposition.   We have been told by more than one stripper that they bash us in the process of their outreach.

They do all this but guess what they DON'T do?  They don't say a word about HIV to the strippers.  Not one word.  Live Nation also represents by the way - CHARLIE SHEEN.  You remember him.  The guy who has been covering up he's been spreading HIV possibly knowingly to every escort and porn star he could get his hands (or other body parts) upon for YEARS.  Something he has admitted to paying  lot of money to try and silence.

Now let me ask you something - if you were Charlie and you were trying to silence any rumor you had HIV and there was this group in Los Angeles and Las Vegas doing outreach to the same women you're sleeping with while having HIV who was going out talking to these strippers and porn stars about HIV, offering education, giving them rides to go get free anonymous testing, what would you do to stop them?  Ask me to stop?  That wouldn't work so what else would you do to get inbetween our program that is doing these things and those women that you're trying to keep dumb and quiet?  Maybe send in nice little church ladies with free coffee, cupcakes, makeovers, free dental care, and all this talk about being their "friend" while also telling them NOT to call SWA maybe?  I mean you tell me - what would you do if in Charlie's shoes?

Our program is the only one I'm aware of anyway for adults that makes a routine of suggesting new members get HIV tests, as well as a complete physical.  We do outreach with education.  We drive new members to where they can get free anonymous testing.  We have more than one member of SWA who has told me they have been with Charlie and they're HIV positive, and they believe he's been aware of it.  I took an escort into my home in the 1980's sick with the virus who was dating Charlie Sheen in the 80's.  I saw him coming to meet with her more than once with my own eyes.   So he knows I know and he knows I run SWA.  Also notice something else - Charlie claims he was diagnosed "four years ago" with HIV.  When did he sign with Live Nation?  In 2011 - FOUR YEARS AGO.  Connecting the dots yet anyone?

I sure do know something is fishy when a group of church ladies shows up in Vegas out of a blue and starts their "outreach" campaigns with their free coffee, cupcakes, make-overs and smiles who doesn't know us from Adam, acts like we don't even exist, and starts twisting up sex workers' heads about "not trusting" us while claiming to "care about sex trafficking victims".  Honestly, if they were to be working with actual trafficking victims in Nevada - I guarantee you there would be a firebomb come through their bakery or some other form of attack to shut them down just as I've seen anyone who does actually extract victims from the Nevada system such as Bob Beers, Sharnel Silvey, or even myself, plus others, have seen is what happens.

So if anyone going to really be the least bit surprised if after doing this work I'm doing for 30 years, after having three REPUTABLE investigative reporters like John Quinones and Bob Herbert to name only two - come out to my home to check out our work with their own eyes who all wrote wonderful things about us - that suddenly I've got people who are working together on fund raisers with these Cupcake Girls then turning around and setting up completely bogus websites like a short time ago while also making me and SWA sound like I'm a complete idiot with an "imaginary" program?  Making false claims that I'm "violating anonymity" and "attacking callers" and all kinds of other insanity designed to what?  Make sex workers not want to call our hotline for help.

To go where?  One of the leaders in the campaign to plant seeds of distrust when Domina Elle partnered with the Cupcake Girls to raise money for Kamylla was Meg from Abeni.  Abeni who receives grant money from the federal government through the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force.  Recognize Orange County?  We referenced their high use of snitches and informants in Orange County at the opening of this blog.  Tits and Sass by the way completely defended us when Melissa Farley betrayed us, lied to us, deceived us, and defrauded us in 2007.  Yet this Meg from Abeni comes along and suddenly they're backing her while bashing us suddenly?  I mean what happened from 2007 to 2015 to make Tits N Sass suddenly not have our back but instead of Abeni's?

If you attend Abeni meetings by the way - many people don't realize this but anything you say in a "support group" is not covered by confidentiality laws.  Nor are "outreach" groups like the Cupcake Girls.  It's not just their bashing me out of a blue when they don't even know me.  Something is very fishy when the Cupcake Girls goes to the Nevada legislature trying to pass a law on the claim that "sex workers can't find work outside the industry because of a prostitution arrest in Nevada"!A-Step-Forward-for-Sex-Trafficking-Survivors/cmbz/556fa0860cf219f177242529

That's strange because since 1996 when I moved to Nevada - I've not had any problem finding work for those women with prostitution or trespassing charges on their record.  In fact, just about every casino in Vegas will hire someone with a record for that and in some cases will even SEEK IT OUT. I have been ASKED by casino's marketing departments to please refer ex-working girls to them for jobs.

Why?  They're good with the public and do very well in marketing, promotions, sales, and jobs where one is having to interact with the public who may be drunk and in a gaming adult environment.   Work is easy in Nevada for ex-hookers.  There's a huge marketing company for time shares that pays $25 an hour to do sales presentations.  They could care less about a prostitution arrest.  So if I can take a survivor and place them tomorrow into a full time job doing sales presentations for time shares for $25 an hour with a prostitution record - why if they are what they say they are, and going to the Nevada legislature for, why would they not want to know the names of these companies?  If they cared about the victims they were reaching out to - wouldn't they make a point of asking me for this list?

When I had first heard of the Cupcake Girls and this Bill of theirs - I contacted them.  I told them that I had a list of employers in Nevada who have no problem at all hiring someone with a prostitution record and I'd love to share that with them, or they could refer those needing help over to our hotline.  I tried repeatedly to meet with them when they first opened in Vegas, and offered this list when I read that news, and was nothing but rebuffed and then blocked.

This bill requires by the way a hiring of an attorney to go back into your records to have them expunged.  Meaning a retainer for at least $1500 last time we checked into an attorney that frankly most survivors I know of don't have that kind of money or time.  They need work and need it now.
Did they want the list?  They blocked me after I offered it to them.

Let's be logical a moment here.  If the Cupcake Girls' was really all about helping sex trafficking victims to recover - then why would they come into town about a year or so ago and refuse to take the list from me of employers?  Why are they winding up strippers into going to them instead of us when they need help?  Are any of them covered under the confidentiality laws?  Nope.  Again, if you were Charlie, on a completely hypothetical level, if you were Charlie trying to cover up your were HIV positive - wouldn't this be EXACTLY what you'd do to try and stop any sex workers who are HIV positive you've slept with, or are sleeping with, from reaching out to our hotline for help?  Anyone who knows me by the way also knows I have deep mad respect for Gloria Allred, and Gloria not only has had me on her radio show when she had it, but she even met with me to offer advice when I formed our 12 step program as a donation.  Gloria is now forming legal action against Charlie.  If I'm wrong - then please offer me another explanation why this group refused to speak to me the very day they came into town KNOWING that I've been there since 1996 working with Vegas prostitutes and trafficking victims if they are what they say they are?

Let's be logical and adult now - is it possible that with all this money flying around the field right now what with federal grants, money from the Catholic Church, money raised at $50,000 a plate fund raisers, and all the political power on the table right now when it comes to the subject of sex trafficking (what other legitimate grounds is there to enter into a country where they have no weapons of mass destruction OTHER than human trafficking by the way) - that maybe, just maybe, there are people who might not want you to contact a hotline that for 30 years has withstood warrants, subpena's, even offers to be a paid informant, and has done everything humanly possible to ensure that you have a safe place to call and talk about what's going on with you WITHOUT fear it's going to wind up in a courtroom somewhere?

If there are people out there who would fake Samoly Mam, and who would go to all the trouble to stage a whole series called "8 Minutes" behind a completely bogus "outreach" program that never existed in reality, one that hired actors to act as their "success stories" of their supposed "outreach church" and even hired actors to pretend to be "rescued" - do you really honestly truly think they might not create fake sex workers to lead you the direction they want to lead you?

Snoop Dogg is upset at me ever since I launched and Charlie Sheen has supposedly even paid $10 million dollars to try and keep silent the fact he's HIV positive - and they are clients of Live Nation who also is a lobbyist for the Cupcake Girls and you're going to tell me they care more about helping sex trafficking victims than the survivor who opened up her own "safe house" in 1984 in an old warehouse, or put in her own 800 hotline for victims to call on her own dime YEARS before we even had federal recognition?

Give me a break.

I warned Heidi for years Alex was an informant.  She ignored me from the 1980's and then in the 1990's her whole life blew up.  Why did it take so long?  When she went down the government got to take all her property for one.  For another, they got to pop all the escorts working for her and her parents by letting her go out as far as she did before they lunged on her.

That said, Sex Workers Anonymous is the ONLY group I know of that does what we do.  No we are not going to offer you cash aid.  Nor are we going to put you into a residential program.  We don't want to put you in a single mother's home and adopt your baby out.  We don't want you to stand there and help us look good for the newspapers to print a photo about the "great work" we're doing.  I'm not trying to be one of the "top 100 people of all time" nor am I trying to get an award.  I don't have my face plastered all over the internet.  I don't have a fund raiser going for three causes at the same time.  I'm not trying to pass a law or get into office.  I'm not applying for a grant.  I don't get one single dime for any of the work I do in SWA.  No one is charged for anything in SWA.  I'm not trying to advance my career, sell my memoirs, or get myself into a journalist job at the Washington Post.

We operate a hotline where you can confidentially and anonymously call for help if you want to leave the sex industry, and to get help to find recovery from your time in the industry and/or if you were trafficked. That help is set up to extend to those who find themselves the victims of trafficking where DEA agents own the strip club, or ex-cops own the massage parlor, or current cops take dirty pictures of you when you're 14 years old and you don't know where you can go to get away from the reach of these guys who have to worry not only are you going to arrest them for pimping - but that you might wind up like Sandra Bland or Jeanne Palfrey.  Meaning even if the people who are trafficking you are connected to law enforcement - we can help you to get away, stay away, and to find recovery.

Our 12 step program is the only one in the country where anyone anywhere can be arrested for prostitution and the sex worker can ask the judge to grant them "alternative sentencing" into our program instead of jail and it can be legally granted - even if you can't afford an attorney.  Is this valuable if you are married, have kids, have pets, and therefore can't go into a residential program?  Hell yes it is.

You're smart people out there - figure out for yourselves.  You want to believe everything someone tells you because they smile at you?  I got this bridge for sale in NY then if that's the case!

Dear Ms. Martinez:

I appreciate your wanting to get involved to do something about the prostitution issue in Los Angeles.   But please - if you're going to try and take on helping an alcoholic - it would be advisable to include Bill Wilson and Alcoholics Anonymous who made treatment for alcoholics available.  Prior to AA's founding by Bill Wilson - the world viewed it as a vice and a lack of moral fiber.

It was also a disease that had a 100 percent fatality rate.  There was no treatment or recovery before AA.  The alcoholic used to be put into wet farms or sanitariums until they died from liver failure or wet brain.  No therapist, church, prohibition, etc. made a single dent in the issue until Bill Wilson stepped up.  Yes they tried "pledges" where men would promise not to drink again, and even prohibition.  It wasn't working and just made the bootleggers rich like Al Capone.

Now was Bill Wilson a "perfect" person?  No one is.  In fact, catch this letter someone wrote about him back then.  But a woman named Marty achieved sobriety in AA and founded the National Council on Alcoholism.  They proved it was a disease and well now we have a whole different view on this issue.  Especially when the First Lady, Betty Ford stepped up to make the world realize it could affect anyone - even her.

That said - please allow me to introduce myself.  I"m the Bill Wilson of the sex trafficking movement.  If you look at clips I have up at you'll see what the media called a "brothel" I was arrested for in 1984.  The truth is that this was the first safe house for adults in the USA.  I had put a woman there whose pimp had just broken her arm and nose.  When he found he couldn't get her past our security and couldn't break in or shoot his way in because we were next to the police station - he reported it as a "brothel" to retaliate.

The victim testified against him and I realized I needed to raise public awareness if I was going to keep helping this population in a world that responded to the issue then as if I were to call up the authorities today saying I needed help to rescue women being kidnapped by little green aliens from Mars.  That's exactly how they viewed us then when we would try and speak out that some of us were not out there by choice.

Obviously I needed to approach the issue differently once I got my legal issues from this addressed.  In consulting with Edwin Meese, our Attorney General at the time for California, I founded the first hotline for adults to call who needed help for ANY reason to leave sex work not connected to the police because our experience is that most trafficking is connected to the authorities as the Chris Butler case proved - and the first 12 step program for recovery.

We started the first alternative to sentencing program, and outreach programs in Los Angeles in the late 1980's through the assistance of the visionary mayor Tom Bradley who opened up the red carpet for us.  He allowed us to have whatever help we needed to address an issue that's like a table with four legs.  Prostitution also involves sex trafficking, drug trafficking, corruption and HIV.   You can't even begin to make a dent in this unless you address all the legs of the table.  We were so effective in the programs we put together - I was asked to duplicate it back east in 1989.  So I went back there for a while and we created a very successful program back there also.

We were told that once we got federal recognition this was "real" - then government money could be made available to do what we were doing for free.  So we helped to get the Trafficking Act of 2000 passed.  Which we then saw the movement hijacked right out from under us with the TVRA of 2003.
That's why you don't even know my name now Ms. Martinez.  Because people looking for a cash cow stampeded the field I led the creation of in modern America for adults, and Lois Lee crafted for the underage victims looking for a payday and other politicians who wanted to use this to advance their careers.

I kept my focus on the members.  We have some testimonials up at   But a few years ago I started getting a large number of phone calls from Los Angeles from our members asking me to move back.  Seems we have quite a crisis on our hands right now with respect to what I believe is an HIV epidemic that parties like Charlie Sheen have been trying to silence - as well as other diseases such as HPV, Hep C, TB and HPV.

We knew that the "fox was guarding the chicken coop" as my grandma used to say when we started finding ourselves being blocked from accessing the very victims we had started this movement to serve.  This is being evidenced by articles such as  that is just the tip of the iceberg of what victims are telling me is happening with the so called "trafficking programs" that are being set up now by people who have no clue honestly what they're doing.  Frankly Ms. Martinez - if the "system" knew how to address this issue back in the 1970's - then Lois Lee wouldn't have had to found Children of the Night for teens and I wouldn't have had to found our program for adults.  I certainly had other plans for my life.

This article ties into the calls I was getting from southern California hearing from trafficking victims telling me they're being trafficked and controlled and threatened by men in law enforcement.  Now in past cases like Chris Butler or Kemp Schiffer - we've been able to go to the media to write up the story and use that pressure to get something done.  Only now I'm also hearing from reporters who are being threatened also about what they write or don't write.  Some of them are even showing me people on the payroll of the traffickers at major media.

We just witnessed a whole bogus sham with the filming of "8 MInutes" and Pastor Kevin Brown which would have been impossible to pull off without the media running stories about this where no independent investigation was done.  A man supposedly a retired OC cop.  At our members' request I moved back here and started filming what they're reporting to me is happening.  Only to find myself threatened by cops and our crew threatened.

Why?  Don't want people to find out that "8 MInutes" was a complete fraud.  There was no outreach.  His "success" stories were paid actors as was the "rescues" he was supposedly doing for the camera actually staged with paid actors also.  Actors who are now suing the production company.

We actually had started an outreach campaign last year using the new law requiring that sex industry businesses hang a sign with the National Trafficking Hotline phone number on it.  Our members, and myself, started receiving threats from the traffickers and even law enforcement to have us locked up on "5150" charges.  We turned to people such as the Board of Supervisors, Mayor Garcetti, Senator John Kerry, Attorney General Kamala Harris, and even Jackie Lacey to name but a few people we called up to give some kind of support to our members going out into the field to massage parlors, strip clubs, and adult modeling agencies with the free signs we had donated who were then started to get stalked and threatened - and we received no support whatsoever.  This left us with no choice but to abandon doing an outreach campaign we've known to work for three decades now in many different cities until we can get some type of support behind us when we start antagonizing these pimps with outreach.

Ms. Martinez - I read about your desire to start sending out these letters to "johns" and I assure you that this is going to create a lot of damage.  It will get men fired, evicted, and possibly even divorced.  It will have as much impact as prohibition had on the alcoholic.

In founding Sex Workers Anonymous - I studied other programs ESPECIALLY Sexaholics Anonymous.  SA is a program designed not just for the sex addict - but for those men who were addicted to buying prostitutes.  I assure you they have a disease no different than any addict or alcoholic.

I wouldn't dare tell you how to be a politician because that's just not what I do.  What I do know is this subject. There is NO ONE in this town, let alone the USA, that knows more about this and has been in this field longer than myself with respect to adults.  Lois Lee of course has a few years on me with respect to underage victims - which is a whole different world actually than adults.  I learned that when I tried to duplicate what she was doing for them with that warehouse - and wound up with a big mess on my hands.  I spent one solid year being mentored by Roy K., the founder of Sexaholics Anonymous, a program that is very effective with men with this addiction - and I can assure you based on my research over three decades, across the USA, and into other countries, and my own experiences with experiments and programs done over the years - this is more than a waste of time and money - but also it will make the problem worse.  It always has.

Ms. Martinez - I've spent 30 years already inventing the wheel here.  Nothing existed before us - so we've already done the experiments, and made the mistakes in order to find out what does work and what DOESN'T.  For example, I understand what people are attempting to do by not arresting juveniles for prostitution - however, the alternatives in some cases are worse.  Also, we don't have any HIV statistics on juvenile prostitutes now for 2015 - and there isn't enough beds yet to put these kids.  All the more reason frankly why our program was so effective before when we were incorporated into the system - our "sponsors" were able to keep tabs on the newer members no matter where they went to make sure they were properly looked after without having to add one dime to the budget nor pass one law or create another committee.

That's why I say what Tom Bradley did was truly revolutionary and visionary.  When he saw the crisis we were in here in the 1980's - he just gave us an office to meet in freely.  Then he named someone from each department - police, sheriff, social services, mental health, CDC, and even us, to meet together in a committee that wasn't broadcast over the news so there was no posturing nor worry about one's career.  Everything was "informal" and basically "off the record".   He also didn't pay anyone a dime.  This removed all motive for profit or fame and allowed us to just buckle down to do the work needed.  The studies, and also I can tell you from experience, proved we were making a huge impact.  So effective - I'm going to invite you to listen to Jewell.  We also set up a system in Phoenix in the late 1980's.  Then people with a profit motive came in and started up Project Rose.  Hear for yourself the difference between a system where we were included - and where we were not.

Please allow me to offer my help so that the same mistake don't keep being repeated.  I assure you MANY have tried what you're suggesting here - very well intentioned - and it's just created more problems.  You will in reality just make these men actually act out more if you tear at their family support system like these letters would do.

I've attached some materials for you to look at on my background.  I'm at your disposal as a consultant to do anything I can to help you address these issues.  I have people who want to monetize this work trying to make sure people like you don't know we exist.  Well we do and I can show you some programs that have proven very effective over the years if you're interested.

Thank you.

The world of recovery is a very confusing world.  Well heck the world itself is a confusing place.  Let's say you're still "new" in recovery and you're trying to figure out what to do to help yourself get what you want.  You don't know what or who to believe.  I don't care who or what you are - you will always have people who love something and support it and others who attack it strongly.  You don't know who to believe.  I know exactly how you feel because I was the same way.  What made it even harder for me is the fact the outside world didn't even acknowledge most of what I was living was real - let alone did I have a clue what might help me or not help me.

Why?  Because I never saw anyone leave where I was.  In the early 1980's I was involved in a lot of things.  I was involved in the sex industry at a level way beyond the stereotypical image of a street prostitute with a street pimp.  I was literally watching women being sold and then loaded onto diplomat planes and flown out of the country.  I was watching Chuck Barris, the producer of the Dating Game and the Gong Show, asking madams to send over working girls to "audition" for the Dating Game.  I then saw some of those women being recruited to work for an escort service called "Talk of the Town" who was run by LAPD officers working undercover.  Were they "undercover" or were they actually using that as a cover for being traffickers?

So even in the streets - wondering what something really is and who you can really trust is just as much of an issue.  But out there - I always picked wrong.  I always seemed to think my friends were my enemies and my enemies were my friends.  So how do I go about trying to sort out who and what to believe about what or who I'm going to receive help from in order to get out of this and recover?

Let me give you an example.  We all know Bill Wilson founded Alcoholics Anonymous.  Now you think that knowing this fact that he would be some kind of universal "hero" in the eyes of AA and the world right?  Take a look at this video attacking him based on a letter written by the woman who introduced Bill Wilson to Dr. Bob - Dr. Bob being the 1st person he recruited into his concept of what was needed to help the alcoholic find lasting sobriety and recovery.

For those who don't know the story - Bill had gone on yet another binge.  He was trying to sleep it off when a man named Ebby approached him about the Oxford Church.  Put into the context that at this time in history alcoholism was a 100 percent fatal disease.  No one recovered.  There were literally sanitarians and drunk tanks and the system that existed at that time and the culture was this - alcoholics were viewed as having no "moral fiber" and "not able to control themselves".

They were viewed as winos who slept in alley's and losers.  The cops would put them into "drunk tanks" to sleep it off and then after paying a fine and doing some time would just release them.  The doctors put them into "wet farms" which meant they would drink until their livers would fail or their brains would turn to mush - hence "wet brain" where they would then go off to "wet farms" who would just care for them until they died.

So this church was a big deal back then by actually starting to get some kind of sobriety.  No one lasted more than a year however.  The alcoholic would be paraded around in the front of the church "testifying" until they're relapse.  Then the relapses would be shuffled off to the back.  Needless to say, Bill Wilson went on  a trip to find work and we now know that stress and travel can trigger the urge to drink.  So here he is in a strange town.  He's been arguing with the Oxford Group that they are missing a few key components to their program for one.  For another, he felt it should be taken out of the church and made into something "non-denominational" so that the Jews and atheists could also avail themselves of a system to get sober.

So at a whole whopping eight months of sobriety - the story goes he got a roll of nickels for the payphone.  Then he got onto the phone and started calling around town trying to find another drunk to work with.  He was told about Dr. Bob - a respected surgeon in town who was finding he was even operating drunk.  His wife, the church, his patients' trust - nothing was stopping his drinking.  So Bill went to go talk to him - or do the first "12 step call".  Dr. Bob then achieved a few months of sobriety and when he started having a hard time - they went to visit a man in the hospital.  The process repeated and AA came out of this process.

Now a lot of people have a lot of horrible things to say about Bill the man.  If you watch this video - it also says a lot of bad things about the man.

All of which may or may not be true.  Two facts remain - AA was born and today there are people achieving long term sobriety through AA.

When I was in ministry school when I was younger - I was taught something called "discernment".  Here's some verses on this -  Because I also know God's Word doesn't contradict itself I don't believe something in conflict with the Bible as a guideline.  Meaning - you don't judge a tree by the tree.  You judge a tree by what?  The fruit.

This woman who wrote this letter about what an awful man Bill was?  What is the "fruit" of her tree?  Did she create the program of AA which was the basis for a whole revolution in recovery?  Because after AA was born - many many things changed.  Marty got sober and founded the National Council on Alcoholism.  Out of that, came research which proved that alcoholism is a disease that you can even find genetic markers for.  I've seen research proving the brain of one is even different than that of a "normie".  There are thicker, more twisted, bundles of nerves at the back of the brain for example.  The "lizard brain" or limbic system is bigger, the frontal lobe less developed - all proving there is a problem with impulse control.  The world stopped viewing this as a moral issue and instead now understands it's a disease.

Out of AA - other issues evolved.  When I first opened up our 12 step program I kept hearing the argument that it "couldn't be an addiction" for some because there was no "addictive substance" such as alcohol or drugs are.  Science has now evolved to where we have clinics in Japan to treat video game addiction.  So science has now evolved to show us that the "addictive cycle" can exist even on something like a video game.  I've watched "Strange Addiction" where people re addicted to eating baby powder, drinking paint and sniffing gasoline.  So it's not the "thing" or the "behavior" for some.
Which is why I do not address the sex industry as the problem in Sex Workers Anonymous.  Nor is even every member someone who identifies as "addicted" even.  SWA is designed to accommodate anyone for any reason who wants help to quit the industry and find recovery.

Meaning yes we do have some members who report they are "addicted" and "can't stop".  For them, we have a program to offer them that will get them off that gopher wheel.  For others, they are trapped by a person or persons making them do it such as a pimp or trafficker.  For them, we also have a system we can offer them to help remove them, and then make sure they don't return.  We say that because we saw over and over again that you could remove someone from a horrific situation and then suddenly blink and the victim had either returned on their own two feet or they would go out and find someone just as horrible, if not worse even, to return to, if there was not a proper "intervention" and "after-care" program offered them.

Which honestly is why many people are confused by us.  They keep expecting us to "be like AA" or even like other groups.  Last night I had someone on Twitter attacking us because we "don't offer services like other groups do".  Well I ask you - why would we offer "services other people are offering"?  We're different and designed to do what no one else is doing.  If there are other groups who do things like providing cash aid, or housing - that's fantastic.  But to attack us for not doing what someone else is doing is like attacking the local bakery for not "selling meat like the butcher does".  It makes no sense other than simply that person is just desperate for something to attack us over clearly.

Which is frankly what you have to examine.  I was taught that if I want to hear how awful Bill is and how AA "doesn't work" than just walk into any bar.  Every drunk at the bar will tell me a story about how screwed up AA is and how it "doesn't work".   While honestly, if I walk into an AA meeting - then I'm also going to hear how AA "saved their life".

So the truth of the situation is that it's not really about whether or not someone or something is good or bad - the real question you're asking at this point is "will it work for me?"  Bringing us right back to the fruit of the tree.

I can go onto Google and I can find 1000 "survivors" all doing the same thing - they have a book out, a ministry, they speak, they advocate, etc.  Bully for them.  I'm happy for them.  The question you have to look at is the "fruit of the tree".  Are they promoting themselves?  Or are they showing you a way out?  Are they showing you them as a person and asking you to be a fan and supporter of them?  Or are they showing you a program where you can improve your life and empower yourself?  If they're asking for money to "support their work" - do you see the work?  Do you see something for a person hurting or in trouble to call them for help?  If all I see on a website is a "donate" button and even 1000 testimonials - but I don't see a number for a victim to call and an invitation for those hurting to call not the National Trafficking Hotline to make a report (making a report is not a program).

Let me show you something at  The news clip says it was a "brothel" that I was arrested over.  However, it also says it was a warehouse with a lot of high tech security that was two blocks from the police station.  Now I ask you - what "brothel" is like this?  The truth is that this warehouse was the first adult safe house in the country.  I know because I set it up that way because nothing else existed for adults.  After putting a victim in it who had her pimp break her arm and her nose - he got angry when he couldn't break in to retrieve her.  So he called the police and made a "tip" that it was a "brothel".

Now I got it sorted out and regrouped to instead launch the hotline and 12 step program in 1987 if you read further down on those clips.  Meaning if you take a victim away from a pimp and they can't get her back . . . guess what?  They're going to retaliate.  You want to know if a program is effective against pimps?  THEY WILL RETALIATE.  If a program is rolling along and no pimp or traffickers are attacking them - then it's a safe bet they aren't DOING ANYTHING TO ANTAGONIZE the enemy.

I can go into a state right now that's having a horrible argument over an endangered owl.  One half of the argument is trying to "save the owls".  The other side says that this "saving" is costing them jobs which is causing the economy of the town to die.  Who is right?

What you have to ask yourself is what do you want?  If you are reading this and you want to (1) find a way out of the sex industry permanently, and (2) you want to find a way to have that life outside of sex work be happy and productive instead of being broke and depressed - then there's only one thing you need to focus in on.

The fruit of the tree.  A few days ago someone told me that they were approached by an abolition group to make a false claim they had helped them to help them manufacture fake articles.  We saw a lot of this "faking" with "8 Minutes" and Kevin Brown.  The whole story of his "outreach" was a complete act.  We now know they hired actors to play prostitute and pimp - and there was no "rescue program".  The whole thing was staged.  Someone spent a lot of money and went to a lot of trouble to make it appear that a rescue appeared that was bogus.  So how do you know what's real and what's fake?

Well in the case of every "bogus" reality show and faked rescues I've read about so far whether it was Kevin Brown, or Destiny House, or Samoly Mam, or Saved by the Strip, or other bogus stories that have come to light - two things always come up.  The first is the connection to Exodus Cry and the second is that neither our program nor Children of the Night have had anything to do with it.  So that's one thing - ask yourself if you've heard of our program or even Children of the Night attached to any of these bogus groups or bogus claims or even bogus survivors?

There was no money in this work prior to the year 2000.  Not a dime.  Why?  There was no federal recognition.  That meant no federal grants nor money from the Catholic Church or even fund raisers because the world had not agreed that sex trafficking was even REAL until the passing of the Trafficking Act of 2000.  So ask yourself - when did this other group start up?  Now does that mean that only groups founded prior to 2000 are legit?  Of course not.  But this is a way to sort things out.  Look at who they partner with.  Birds of a feather.  Then look to see what their motivation might be - were they there before money was on the table?

Next - follow the money.  Are they holding a fund raiser?  Applying for a grant?  Just got a grant?  Is someone running for office?  Were they doing the work before they got paid to do the work?  Are they donating any help or time?  Underage minors who can't go to groups to hear other survivors because of their age want to hear stories of recovery.  So I put together interviews at for them to be able to hear any time any where - even if they're in Alaska or some tiny little town.   No one on that show was paid to speak.  I have asked, and still ask, every "survivor" out there to record their story for those young victims.  If you don't see a name there of someone like Theresa Flores, Chong Kim, Savannah Sanders, Samoly Mam, Beth Jacobs, Barbara Amaya, or any other name you can think of - that's because they refused.

Now I ask you - what in the hell have I personally got to do with that decision?  Those interviews have been listened to right now to date by over 18,000 teen victims of sex trafficking who write to me that they found hope for their lives by hearing stories of recovery on that show which can be heard for free any time any where 24/7.  Am I the one punished when Beth Jacobs or Theresa Flores for example don't record an interview for those young victims who are being put into foster homes, group homes, or taken home where they aren't around other survivors and they feel isolated and alone and maybe even like a freak and they're desperate to hear from other people they aren't alone and there's hope?

Someone whose focus and eyes are set on helping other victims and doesn't care about the money but only about helping - has granted us an interview.  If you want to know why others might have refused to be recorded - I won't speak for their reasons.  You ask them their reasons.  I will just say I've asked them to be recorded for this purpose and they've said no.  If there is one single survivor right now as of 2015 out there - I've asked them to be recorded for those young victims who may be surrounded by therapists and ministers and people - but need to hear from other survivors.

Many members of SWA have gone on to form their own programs.  Brenda Myers-Powell and Kathleen Mitchell for example have openly said in interviews they got their recovery through our program.  There are others I can't name - but they exist.

I know churches that used to hold lectures claiming that Martin Luther King was "destroying the civil rights movement".  I know there are hate sights right now set up against President Obama.  Some claim he even lied about his birth certificate.

So please - stop looking for someone who is universally liked.  If anything, if they're that well liked you got to wonder what pimps are they pissing off?  Right now there are people who are throwing gas bombs at and even shooting people at Planned Parenthood - the last line drawn in the battle for control over a woman's body and free choice.  I personally don't believe in abortion.  But I also don't want someone else telling me what to do with my body either.  Like free speech - I may disagree with you violently but I will defend to the death your right to say your peace.  We are watching a "war on women" right now where Planned Parenthood AND Sex Workers Anonymous is now the new front lines.

How are we the front lines?  Read the lawsuit at ACLU v. Catholic Bishops.  Read the Supreme Court decision at,_Inc.  Take a look at what happened to Harry Reid when he tried to uphold the court order in the ACLU v. Catholic Bishop's lawsuit where the court upheld the church could not block trafficking victims from getting help if it brought them into contact with someone who might even say the word "abortion" like a medical doctor or a licensed therapist.  We literally have right now trafficking victims being taken from the traffickers and put into a whole other hell where nuns are convincing these women they would be "horrible mothers" in order to get them to sign away their babies in baby mills pretending to be "safe houses".  Where things like this are happening -

So yes - there is a war going on right now where our program is the target because we are the ONLY program in this country right now that (1) welcomes men, women, transgenders, (2) the LGBT victims, (3) doesn't focus only on street level prostitution who are primarily minorities because those at the escort levels of customers prefer to only have white escorts leaving minorities to work the streets, massage parlors, strip clubs, etc., (4) operates the only hotline where we do NOT work or report your calls to law enforcement or use your data for research nor are we paid informants, (5) we receive no federal grants, (6) we take no money from any church, (7) and we are all survivors volunteering our work, and (8) we encourage all new members to get a complete physical, including an HIV test.

We know for a fact that operators of residential programs have been asked if they would physically block their residents from accessing any services that might lead to abortion in order to receive large donations or even operating funds (again refer to ACLU v. Catholic Bishops).  Groups like Children of the Night do not receive federal funds nor funds from a church either.  Meaning there is no "second master".  The only focus with CON and also SWA is the work.  We're not trying to get a grant approved, nor money put into a Gofundme account nor trying to get press for political or ideological reasons.  Our ONLY purpose is the work.

Now that said am I, Jody, a "perfect" person?  Ask any celebrity, politician, or even large business owner if everything said about them is the truth.  Ask them if everything printed on social media about them is the truth.   You'll find them joking about how crazy outlandish and far out what they find printed about them is.  So probably about 90 percent of what you might hear about me and even SWA is going to also be the same as for anyone in the public eye - meaning mostly false and being the way the public is - meaning to "tear it all down".

So again we go back to the reason question - it's not about me as a person.  It's not about what someone said about me behind my back or on twitter.  You need to "look at the fruit" and then ask yourself what you want.

If you want to get out of the sex industry - asking someone in the sex industry probably is about as wise as asking an alcoholic how to get sober or a broke man how to become wealthy.   No matter what my personal faults may be considering I'm not only human but a damaged human also - is the fact I have been out of the sex industry, and clean from all drugs, including alcohol, since January of 1985.  Take a look at our site and blog - am I focusing on creating a fan club or selling you some jewelry or winning an award - or is the focus on the work?  Are other people finding recovery through SWA?  Those are the questions you need to ask yourself if that's what you want.

If you are under 18 - ask yourself - what other program can crank out alumni?  Now anyone can pay someone to pretend to be a survivor - we saw that with Samoly Mam and others.  But the money has to come from somewhere.  I have no money - so anyone offering us a testimonial for SWA I can assure you was not paid for that.  As for CON - I highly doubt she has enough money to pay all those adults to come back and speak about how CON helped them.  One or two?  Sure we saw that with Withelma Ortiz Pettigrew.   But now a crowd spanning generations.

Is Lois a perfect person?  Frankly I don't give a shit.  The fruit of her tree speaks for itself as does mine.

Now am I going to tell you to "stay away" from other groups that might be bad for you?  Am I doing that now?  Have I called you up and told you to "stay away" from so and so or have I printed a list here of people to avoid?  Or am I offering you up a lesson in how to discern for yourself how to figure out who to trust and who might be able to actually help you?

In my book - only pimps try and use fear to try and control you.  I share my "experience, strength and hope" with others.

People using a claim of disliking or disapproving of me as a person - ask them if they're (1) worked through the steps, and (2) how many people have they helped to escape trafficking, to find recovery, and then found their own programs helping others.

There's your answer.

Dear Kenneth:

We knew this was coming the minute we were shut out of the system entirely a few years ago.  We found anyone working within the human trafficking arena reporting to us they were told they would be fired if they so much as spoke to us, let alone told any victims about our program Sex Workers Anonymous (formerly Prostitutes Anonymous).

A program which by the way founded this movement itself.  Those who fought this because of having years of working successfully with us on this issue were in fact fired.  When I started hearing from social workers, police officers, shelter workers, etc., that they were being told specifically not to speak to us any longer and then fired when they refused to do so - that's when I started writing offices such as yours, Homeland Security, etc. saying this to us was a red flag we've seen before.

We know well how to deal with corruption being that we founded this movement because of finding ourselves victims of Iran Contra during the 1980's.  The "brothel" spoken of here in 1984 at was in reality the first adult safe house in the USA.  An angry pimp reported it as a brothel.  We straightened it out when the victim inside testified against him for his drug sales activities - but clearly I had to go about this another way.  So we launched our hotline, and our 12 step program in 1987.

Meaning we've been working with everyone from social services, to law enforcement, and politicians just fine when we crafted the first alternative to sentencing programs, the first residential programs the first outreach campaigns, etc., in this country during the 80's and 90's leading to the passing of the Trafficking Act of 2000.

So when we found everyone in SWA who had jobs working with victims, and anyone who even so much as knew our name being ran right out of the system once we achieved federal recognition, i.e., money came onto the table - we knew that this was coming.  Now I appreciate that during an election year a few senators have rescued a couple of victims and got their name in the press.

But you know and I know that nothing is going to be done at any official level to change this.  Not when right now as I speak I've been telling your office, the offices of Homeland Security, ICE, and even the White House, I've got information on traffickers who are using law enforcement to threaten victims, reporters, other police, and even myself on where they are living, where they bank, how they operate, etc., where pimps within their operation have already been found guilty and sentenced, and that trace back to LLiang Yaohui in China - and I can't get so much as a return phone call.

I guess it's because I'm just another survivor and not a senator looking for a photo op.  This article doesn't change anything and you and I know there isn't going to be any "oversight' committee installed.  Not again when I can't get a return phone call about traffickers right now, and I'm getting nothing but the runaround about the people we know within the system working with traffickers.

Before, we were able to do something about it as evidenced in cases like Kemp Schiffer and Chris Butler.  We would go to the press, and then the press would force something to be done.  But now we have an ever growing list of reporters telling us they're being threatened now also in not reporting anything about us.  I have now established a very large list of major media ranging from the Los Angeles Times, to CNN, to the Washington Post who now have people on traffickers' payroll working for them.  We are no different now on this issue than Columbia was in the 1990's with the drug cartel.

If you check your records, you'll see I've been writing your office also about this for some time now.  No one has gotten back to me either which is why I'm holding your office just as accountable on those kids, and others, as the ones who were caught in this article.  I've been writing you for some time now that in each city where you have funded "task forces" and other programs - I can't find anything but hostility and antagonism - and the victims are finding they have no where they can turn for help either.

Which is why I'm alerting you now I've located the means to start filming documentation of all of this which will start airing on public access TV and social media starting in January.

(formerly Prostitutes Anonymous)

Come walk through the process of “working the steps” of SWA. Learn how it is the same as other programs, as well as where it differs. We can guarantee that your life will be changed once you walk through the process of learning how to apply the steps and traditions in “all your affairs”. This is a life changing series so you must be willing to go through from start to finish. There is no cost but it will be recorded so that others will be able to learn how to apply them who are in jail, shelters, residential programs, or far away rural communities who can't access a sponsor. This is a 24 week series – going through the 12 steps and then the 12 traditions. If you are suffering from post-prostitution syndrome – this series will definitely show you the way out.

Starts Friday, December 4t, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (4:00 p.m. Eastern)

(We will break for December 25th and January 1st)

If you wish to attend the step workshop – the 1st step is when we realize we can't change our lives to what we want it to be, nor ourselves, by ourselves. The first word of the first step is “we”. For us, we can't do it alone. When you reach out to sign up for this workshop – you are starting your 1st step. Space is limited so please RSVP asap.

There will be a regular weekly phone meeting held also starting December 4th.
Weekly Phone Meetings will be held Fridays at 2:00 p.m.
Phone meetings are not recorded.

This is not about a person – it's about the process. People who get their college degrees do not care if they “like” their teachers. They go to class and get their degrees because that's their goal. To not attend this workshop series because you may not “like” anyone else attending is about as ridiculous as saying you're not going to finish getting your degree because you don't “like” your English teacher. People attending AA and NA today don't even know the founders so it's about “principle's before personalities”. If you want to avail yourself of the process, and learn how to carry it on – then RSVP today as seating at the workshop series is limited to only 9 seats. We have five already confirmed.

Dear Nancy and Carla:

I moved back to Los Angeles last year because of three major reasons.  The first being the trafficking victims I was speaking to who are informing me they are being falsely arrested, threatened, and even outright trafficked by people within law enforcement.  When Chris Butler and another officer were finally arrested in 2013 - the ring itself they were a part of was not shut down.  RICO laws were invented for these reasons - you can take out one or two players but if the network itself is left operating nothing changes.  I have information as to where the heads of this ring reside and do business, that I'm trying to get the authorities to look at and address because things have changed with respect to our work with victims of this ring.

In the past, we've been able to extract victims from trafficking rings that utilized law enforcement.  However, with the new technology it's become impossible to do with the more sophisticated rings.  Leaving the only solution to freeing these victims shutting down the ring itself.  Therefore, I'm trying to get someone in authority to look at the information that I have for that purpose.

Second, because of the calls I've been receiving from southern California who are HIV positive.  I've taken informal polls of various industries here from the porn modeling agencies, to the strip clubs and massage parlors.  The average sex worker today in their 20's is completely unaware of HIV, is taking no precautions, and is engaging in high risk behaviors.  What makes this worse than what I saw in the 1980's epidemic is the fact most sex workers are either seeing clients who travel, or they're traveling a "circuit" which is making the potential spread of many diseases a reality.

Not only are they reporting to me they have HIV, but I'm hearing about TB, Hep C, and chronic fatique syndrome.  In fact, many people within the porn industry just accept that 80 percent of the "trick pool" is infected with HPV and chronic fatique syndrome.  My work as an educator about HIV back in the 80's taught me that those who have CFS are 10 times more likely to contract HIV if exposed to the virus.  Therefore, making heterosexual transmission very likely.

Combined with the fact I've been aware of Charlie Sheens' status for some time now, along with his frequenting of both escorts and porn performers, has me gravely concerned that we are facing another epidemic even worse than we saw in the 1980's.  For this reason, I relocated back here because our members are very unwilling to break their anonymity for the purposes of seeing what can be done to work together to do something about this.  Since I'm already a "known" figure - they've asked me to come and try to be that liaison for them like I was back then also.  Especially since we go back to problem number one - being that many sex workers are reporting that they feel no one wants to even acknowledge they exist, let alone help them.

To give further urgency to what I'm trying to tell you, I saw on TV tonight that there is a confirmed HIV epidemic among sex workers in Tijuana, Mexico.  A town as you know just across the border from us.  With the rise of drug traffickers also engaging in sex trafficking - there is reason to be very alarmed here.

So I'm going to say what I've been saying since the 1980's - the issue of sex trafficking is also one where HIV has to be addressed.  Also, that HIV can't be addressed without addressing trafficking because the traffickers, and men like Charlie Sheen, could care less who they expose to disease.  This issue is not just about saving some victims - but truly one affecting each of us from a public safety point of view.

I don't know anyone on any of these committees I'm seeing right now working with sex trafficking that have the EXPERIENCE I have on this issue.  We made a lot of mistakes in the 1980's.  Mistakes I'd like us to learn from.

So I wanted to alert you to the fact the Global Health people have identified an epidemic across our border.  Now maybe you'll understand why I'm so alarmed by what I'm hearing I've relocated back here to get more involved in the solution.

I would like to involve others than just our members.  Hence why I've been reaching out to your offices for some time now.  Now I'm happy that you've "already chosen your speakers" but in the world of sex trafficking - sometimes things change on a dime.  I offered this HEAT event myself as a speaker in the hopes to start incorporating discussions on how corruption and HIV is a part what has to be included in the planning for solutions here.

If your offices want to keep not returning my calls, stalling talking to me for months at a time, this leaves me having to continue to plug along here as best as we can on our own.  Which is again why I'm going to start filming what's going on very shortly.  Another reason I had hoped to do more at this HEAT event than to submit some comments that no one is going to read.

Anyway, I wanted to send you over that information in case you have not seen it about the epidemic in Mexico.  If LAPD had continued to arrest juvenile prostitutes, giving them the mandatory HIV tests that go along with that type of arrest - you might have some hard data on this to review rather than relying upon the fact our hotline is getting an ever increasing number of calls from HIV positive prostitutes, or worse, victims who have been subjected to multiple unprotected encounters per day who could be spreading these diseases as we speak.

Now maybe you understand why I'm becoming increasingly distressed at the way our members are being shut out of these panels and discussions.  Yes you may be talking to a handful of survivors.  However, I doubt ones with my experience on these issues with respect to solutions that have proven to be effective over the years.  The reason why they're coming to me is because they're not being heard.  If I'm not being heard - they sure are not.

It's up to you if you're going to change this or not.

Dear Mr. Spiegel:

I’m writing you on behalf of Warner Brothers wanting to thank you for firing Charlie Sheen.  I’ve suffered for 30 years now at the hands of that man and I’ve had to suffer in silence.  My name is Jody Williams and I outlined the situation in a blog post here about Charlie and my group Sex Workers Anonymous.

When this woman became too ill to work at a job other than escorting back in the late 1980’s - I took her into my home and cared for her until such time as she had to go into hospice.  Her family took over from there who had been estranged from her because of her choice to be an escort back in the 1980’s.  She had dated Charlie in high school and evidently they had been “childhood sweethearts”.  When I wasn’t getting calls back from her family, and didn’t know how to care for her - I reached out to Charlie myself.  I was threatened with all kinds of legal and criminal action if I didn’t “back off”.

Which even if he didn’t want to help her out financially - the least the man could have done was to support our work that was there for her at such a time.  But no - he continued to not only “party” but to blaze through other prostitutes like disposable Kleenex when he knew good and well he could possibly be carrying the virus then.  I didn’t know if he was infected then - but knowing she had it and he had been sleeping with her - certainly he was at risk.

I didn’t know anything directly about Charlie’s HIV status directly until I started getting calls from women who shared a sexual history with him who were HIV positive.  Only if this was happening back in the 1980’s we would have had no problem getting them help.  Something changed after 2003.  These changes essentially cut off all services to those coming out of the sex industry who were not street prostitutes escaping a pimp specifically.  If someone even so much as MENTIONED this person was a sex worker and NOT a 100 percent “victim of trafficking” suddenly the whole system was cut off to them again in some weird bizaare twist of history.

What I mean by that is in the 70’s and 80’s - prostitutes were ignored by both the legal and health systems.   It didn’t matter if they were a trafficking victim or a high priced hooker - they were ignored by the law and ignored by the health systems because they were viewed as “criminals” and therefore not to exist.  So we pushed to create the modern day trafficking movement to change that.  Then in some weird twist - suddenly the legal and health systems are saying “okay we’ll acknowledge those who say they were victims - but we won’t acknowledge anyone who says they were a prostitute or  sex worker”.

In fact, about a year ago - a whole campaign kicked off to even TELL the public not to even say such a thing “existed” with the “No Such Thing” campaign.  Sounds harmless right?  Only I swear to you that when I called the womens’ jail here in Los Angeles to start up a SWA meeting there a few months ago - I was told “we don’t have any prostitutes here.  We have victims of trafficking but no prostitutes”.  It got better when I was told the police department for 2015 was showing ZERO under juvenile prostitution arrests.

The reason that fact will make you feel like you just dropped acid is because that number is always used to calculate HIV rates ESPECIALLY when those arrested for prostitution are given mandatory HIV tests.   The reason why I’m telling you this is because when I saw all this press hitting the air waves and I saw that report saying not just no juveniles were arrested for prostitution but none were tested for HIV - the first thing I said to myself is “who is trying to cover up they gave HIV to a juvenile”?

I don’t know when Charlie was told officially he had HIV Mr. Spiegel.  But I do know he knows that a women he went to school with died of this while he stood by and did nothing.  Also, this meant he was at risk.  To then go out and promote the use of prostitution, and also encourage young women into thinking it was all a “party at Charlie’s house” went beyond reckless partying.  He’s now endangered, and possibly murdered, people now and has threatened the public health.  With this very strange “no such thing campaign” I’m also willing to bet somewhere down the line we're going to hear he’s deliberately infected juveniles.   Which he’s also already done infecting adults.  Adults who are mothers and wives and are with other people.  He’s shown more than a disregard for mankind - but to me is on the same level as a serial killer.

Until I see him stepping up to do something to help clean up the mess he's made that I’ve had to stay silent about previously for fear of being sued by him, and our members being “anonymous”, then he’s a monster in my mind with no remorse.  Not something I would think Warner Brothers would want to represent them.

On a side note, I’ve been working on my memoirs of the history of the movement itself for a while now.  I’ve been agonizing over how to write about any of this without being sued by him for defamation.  At least now I can be open about everything without fear.  I’m writing it because I want people to see how backwards the movement has become.  Now instead of ignoring all of us - the system is only acknowledging the ones who say they never did it “voluntarily”.  In other words, everyone of Charlie’s escorts. I know he’s been paying people to keep  a lid on this before I’ve got a stack now of reporters who tell me they’ve been told they’ll be fired if they so much as even write my name now.  Only when they've even asked “why”? no one has answered them.  Clearly with the answer being Charlie trying to keep all of this quiet - answering would have just revealed it.

Meaning at least I think the media ban on us will be repealed now he’s come clean!  So I wanted to thank you and Warner Brothers for joining with us in the feeling that this behavior was criminal and not wanting him to represent you.   I’m STILL not seeing one bit of remorse out of him or even acknowledgment of what he's done.  Thank you again.

Jody Williams

When you're spear heading a campaign that stopped arresting juvenile prostitutes - you also stopped mandatory HIV/AIDS testing that prostitutes are required to get when arrested.  Because of your campaign, there are no statistics for HIV for juvenile prostitutes for 2015 available.  Nothing to contrast with any other rates of HIV to see if the number is growing or lessening.  Nothing which can be used to even help get an estimate done so any grants can be applied for in order to do outreach.

I've been wondering to myself for a while now "who is trying to cover up the HIV rates in prostitutes?" and now I know.

I hope you're happy with yourself Ms. Saar.  The reason why I've been running around like a chicken with my head cut off for a while now knocking on any door that I can on behalf of these women is because everyone is just acting like they don't exist = while I'm getting more and more and more calls from women who tell me they're HIV positive in Los Angeles.  I have said very clearly in my blogs, postings, and letters since day one I relocated back to Los Angeles because of the increase in calls I'm getting from those who are HIV positive in the sex industry.

Are you aware Ms. Saar how much it costs to get an HIV test?  Especially if they had insurance and even with insurance IF they wanted to report it on their own insurance in their own name. Why is this an issue?  Because if you're caught prostituting after you've been told you're HIV positive - you can be charged with attempted manslaughter.  That's why most sex workers who can't quit aren't willing to get tests done on their insurance in their own names.  Meaning they're only going to do free anonymous tests - or nothing at all.  If they CAN get them done in the first place.

Are you aware that most sex workers don't have cars of their own nor drive?  Certainly they aren't going to be taken to a test site where they can get a free anonymous HIV test by any group I"m aware of OTHER THAN OURS at the moment because ever since 2003 - all federal and faith based funding has blocked and shunned any group who does HIV testing of any kind or even speaks about it.  Leaving us left.

So while you're pouring all that press into speaking to Russell Simmons and the CNN and Cosmo about the labels people use  - I know we're looking at another HIV epidemic.  Only how am I supposed to get the word out with you soaking up all the press and cutting us out?  Don't think I don't have statements from reporters telling me they've been told they'll be fired or "never work again" if they even mention our name.  John McCain, the California Endowment, and everyone else connected with your campaign holds a lot more clout than a group of recovering sex workers does operating on their own time and their own funding.

Should we have our members who are HIV positive step forward and incriminate themselves?  How about when they have clients who would see them dead rather than go to the press with news like that?  Where does that leave them with recourse other than me speaking for them?

I asked you if we could be included in your media campaign and now I can speak freely about why I think you refused now that Charlie's come clean.    There's only one group of people I know of trying to silence us Ms. Saar and it's not the women affected by this issue.

Are you aware I see not one word about Wilethema being tested for HIV ?  Thing is REAL survivors coming into our program are TERRIFIED they have it.  It's the only thing they can think about until they get their test results.  It's not like the pimps let them use protection nor got them tested.  If anything, they charge more for the "girlfriend" experience - which is a fancy trade term for not using condoms.

Meaning coming into recovery - these women are terrified until they first test and it's the only thing mind until they hear the news.  I know because I'm sitting up with them until 2:00 a.m. until we can arrange testing or transportation for them.

So how come your survivor hasn't said one single word in any interview about her fear of HIV after her "rescue"?  I've scoured her interviews and if anything the only thing I've seen her talk about is that now she's in recovery she's now "gets off on being choked like her traffickers used to do to her".  Only not one word about her fear she was HIV positive coming into recovery.  Now if you'd included ANY real survivor certainly I"m aware of - then I think you would have heard they are a lot more concerned about that than whether some outsiders identify them as a "prostitute" or a "victim".

I haven't been able to be more aggressive about how I'm aware of this until now thankfully Charlie Sheen has said something so I don't have to worry about being accused of "blackmailing" anyone by pushing on the issue of the HIV status of victims in California.

So now it's in the open I'd love to hear your answers to any of these questions Malika.  Especially why you're more concerned about a label then you are the fact I'm certainly hearing a record number of survivors report to me they're HIV positive.  So many I've relocated back here to Los Angeles to do something about it because they said "no one is listening".  It seems you aren't either.

Why not?  If you're "elevating the voice of a survivor" - then how come not this concern?  I'd love to hear your answer on that point.  .
