SWOP'S GATHERING OF PUBLIC DATA ON SEX WORKERS

Edward Snowden revealed there is an intentional campaign going to gather data on people for the purposes of "pushing" on them by the CIA, and other agencies.  Anyone who has seen his film is aware of what's going on.

Which would explain why SWOP is not acting like a group "by sex workers for sex workers" since Robin Few, their founder, died in 2012.  While our 12 step program has undergone extreme viscious attack by members of SWOP, and their new "leadership" seems to act like we're not members of the sex worker community any longer for some reason despite the fact we operate the only hotline in the country where sex workers who want help to exit the industry can call for help without fear of any of their information being disclosed to anyone, especially law enforcement, they decided to try and set up their own version of a 12 step meeting for sex workers in Las Vegas.  You can see how they advertise this meeting online which courts have ruled is the same as a "public notice" by the way.

Thus rendering this meeting the same as if held in a "public place".  Which if you look at the actual meeting place ala Google map photos - it really is:

Since there is a public sidewalk in front of the place, anyone can park their car or stand there and film who pulls into that parking lot.  It's small enough it can't be argued that on a Saturday morning, when the other business's are closed there in that center, that the person is there for one reason and one reason only - the SWOP 12 step meeting.  So the person, car and license plate can be videotaped without the party's consent.

The law also states that anyone who does "not take steps" to make something "confidential" also waives any right to privacy.  A "12 step meeting" by the way does not have the same laws of confidentiality a "12 step program" does.  Our program, Sex Workers Anonymous, is a "12 step program" recognized officially by our government as a 501c3 and with approval from AA to adapt it's steps given to us in writing to do so.

I have asked around some of the "old timers" in AA and NA in Las Vegas and they have no idea who is running this meeting.  Being I've sponsored sex workers, and ex-sex workers, in recovery for over 30 years total, with having done so in Vegas since 1996, I would think I'd hear about someone in the rooms starting this meeting.

So why?  Why would anyone ask someone to expose themselves to possibly being photographed legally in such a manner as to invite them to come to this meeting?  The profile for this meeting was created in December of 2016 and does not state what person is hosting this meeting.

I take a lot of shit for being who I am, but you KNOW who I am behind our meeting.  You know I was a sex worker, I'm a person, I'm a person who has gone to great lengths to ensure the anonymity of our members, and I've refused money to give information on our members to law enforcement.  That's what you KNOW when you contact www.sexworkersanonymous.com is that a real ex-sex worker in recovery for 30 years is going to be there to help you when you call.

There is no person standing behind this meeting that I can see.  I see a profile which wasn't opened until December of 2016 and that's it.  At least when people are "bashing" me - I'm a REAL PERSON.  I'm a bona fide ex-sex worker who has also been in recovery for 30 years.  You KNOW that.  I'm not a "catfish" profile either set up to gather information on sex workers which by the way SWOP has confirmed they are sending the data onto the government when they do their "tax returns" or explain "who they gave their grant money to".  Savannah Sly is also no longer their director.

So who and why would they ask sex workers in Las Vegas to do this?

NOTICING THE PATTERN YET?

Another one bites the dust http://www.lasvegasnow.com/news/i-team-former-cop-suspected-pimp-linked-together-in-fbi-investigation/607916728 Notice the pattern yet guys? Yet another "crusader" who had NOTHING to do with www.sexworkersanonymous.com while claiming to be on the same side of the war as us. We established our headquarters in Nevada in 1996 and have been working with REAL victims against REAL traffickers ever since.

Has anyone figured out yet the ones who are all being exposed as fakes were the same ones who were refusing to even talk to us about the victims we were working with? Again, if someone is telling you they're wanting to help an alcoholic while refusing to even acknowledge Bill Wilson and Alcoholics Anonymous - then figure out something is WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE!

IF YOU'RE BEING SEX TRAFFICKED IN NEVADA - WHAT TO DO

You have to realize these "sex trafficking task forces" didn't use to exist at all.  Understand back in the 1970's and early 1980's the whole idea was considered on the same exact level as we consider UFO abductions today.

If you were to talk about an "organized group of men who network with each other all over the world in order to maintain control over the women they manage/own" they would look at you no different than you saying you had been abducted by aliens.

Then to say you wanted to have a system set up where someone who is dealing with this can get help to get away from them and get to safety and that it further has to be set up so these guys can't come find you and drag you back or murder you so that you don't testify against them was received then the same way as if I said to you now that I'm being abducted by aliens nightly and I need a number I can call where someone will come out and protect me from them and stop them from taking me.

THAT'S literally how the world reacted to you talking about sex trafficking back then.  If you'd like to see what I mean - let's take one of the first women to step up and talk about what was going on in the sex industry to the public.  This was Linda Lovelace.  She had been in "Deep Throat" which was not just any adult film.  Back in the 1970's adult XXX films were ONLY shown in "adult" theaters.  These were sleazy tiny dirty places in bad parts of town where you had to go in order to watch an XXX film.  People used to make jokes about the "sticky seats" in the theaters!

"Deep Throat" was however the first XXX film which was aired in "regular" theaters.  It was a comedy about a woman who could only have an orgasm by giving deep throat.  Films were not cheap to make back then, nor was it easy to get ANY film booked into a regular film theater back then.

So this film was financed with mob money, and the mob made a LOT of money off the ticket sales.  These were cash sales and the theater owners reported these guys used to come in and grab a bunch of cash out of the til and not report it because that's how the mob did things back then.

Linda was married to Chuck Traynor.  She says he forced her to become a prostitute and then held a gun to her off camera on the set to make her do the film.  Linda also said NO ONE stepped up to help her either.  To prove her story - Linda tells the public "you can see the bruises on my legs at the pool and bathtub scenes.  Her bruises are clearly visible when you look for them.  When Linda got away from him, she had nothing.  The book "Ordeal" was published in 1980.

The thing is - instead of he experiences being used to change the way adult films were made, to use it to create safety measures for the performers - it was instead snatched up by the anti-porn people.  You can see what I mean about the reaction to Linda's story here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hKunfk2G5k

The womens' groups, church groups, anti-porn groups all made Linda their "poster child" in their crusade to shut down porn entirely.  Now Chuck himself didn't do very much denying what Linda said himself.  Instead, he got ahold of Marilyn Chambers and started promoting HER.  MARILYN then started saying things like "Linda's just saying that because she can't cut it anymore in the industry" and "she's just angry Chuck left her for me" and things like that.

To get Marilyn's denials heard with the widest audience possible  - she embarked on a nationwide country western tour believe it or not.  The purpose of that was so the local news would cover Marilyn's arrival in town.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoRHZgFKgVc  Of course it also allowed Marilyn to further put down Linda's claims as "just jealous because of all the attention I'm getting now that I'm with Chuck" and "look how well he treats me".
Chuck later opened the Gun Store in Nevada where he made promotional videos of his guns using topless models.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EJz79sVg4U

The problem was there were NO LAWS which addressed what happened to Linda on the set.  To have her be raped on film at gunpoint and then the film sold - there just wasn't the right laws to address what she said happened.  So the government did try and file for "obscenity" charges against everyone on the film but Linda.  But the jury didn't understand either what was going on either as the whole thing was being portrayed as more of a "domestic violence" issue if anything.

I'm bringing this up because I want you to understand that up until 1987 the only thing you could do in situations like this was call 911.  That was IT.  Now if Linda could have reached a phone to call 911 back then what would she have said to them "oh my husband is making me do an adult film?"  Wouldn't work because even if he let her near the phone, which she said he didn't, and even if the cops would come out to the set - then what?  The cops would ask Chuck "are you forcing this woman to do this film?" and he'd say "no".  They'd ask the crew "did you see anything?"  The crew would say "no" because this is their job they want to get paid for.  Then the cops would turn around and go back - leaving Linda now on the set with a very pissed off pimp on her hands.

One of the first things someone like Linda has to do is to GET AWAY  from the situation.  Only back in the 70's and 80's homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters, etc. REFUSED to accept prostitutes and especially PORN PERFORMERS.  Drug treatment programs would refuse prostitutes.  Anyone who they even suspected of being a prostitute back then was refused help because not only were we "criminals" in their eyes, but we also were in the middle of an AIDS epidemic.

So in 1984, I took a warehouse I had yes once used as a brothel and turned it into the first adult safe house in the country.  I got a few women out of the industry, and away from their pimps, in this warehouse.  It was close to the police station to scare away trouble.  It had the security and the barbed wire for protection.  When I was arrested however the police gave me a $50,000 bail.  That took a little time to arrange.  During that time the police made sure the media portrayed me as "running a brothel" as to why I was arrested only I wasn't even on the property when I got arrested.  I was set up by some very corrupt cops who didn't like the idea I was providing safety from them to women with this warehouse.  You can read about my 1984 arrest at www.hightechmadam.com

I relate to Jennifer O'Kane when she says "I wanted a safe place for women to go" because that's what my warehouse was.  You were safe there from harm and could heal.  While they were healing, it gave them time to think about what they wanted to do next.  Most wanted to leave the industry.  Some wanted to keep working in the industry but without their exploitation and terror.  But because the warehouse was providing these women with options - it had to be shut down.

Clearly that idea didn't work.  After I shut down the warehouse, I was still getting calls from women needing it.  I wasn't going to go that route again.  But I couldn't turn away either and refuse to help them.  So in 1987 I launched "Prostitutes Anonymous" and the hotline.  This hotline was one where you could call no matter what part of the sex industry you were in - stripping, porn, prostitution - and get help to get out no matter what the situation - even if you were being forced.  Here is me and some of our early members on the Donahue show promoting the hotline and program https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeG_CO06O2o&t=1386s

A lot of sex workers watched Donahue - so that was one of the reasons why we went on that show.  Anywhere we could make contact with men and women in the sex industry - we let them know to call our hotline first.  Not all wanted help to quit - some were just in an immediate crisis.  That's why we always say "whatever your reasons are just call".

If you were an adult in the sex industry wanting help to get out of a bad situation, or just to help you quit - then from 1987 until 2002 WE were the only hotline for adults to call.  I specify "adults" because juveniles could call www.childrenofthenight.org and get help immediately also.  Children of the Night had founded their hotline and program for juveniles in 1979.

Then we helped to get the Trafficking Act of 2000 passed.  What this did was give us official federal recognition as "victims" instead of "criminals".  Understand prostitution is ILLEGAL.  Making us CRIMINALS in the eyes of the law when calling 911.  So when we would go to victim services after being raped, beaten, kidnapped, etc., and we were "prostitutes" then they would refuse to help us because the government does not help CRIMINALS.

Prior to the 2000 Act - the only thing on the books about this was the Mann Act.  This only gave Chinese women the status needed for our government to help them get out of prostitution and back to China.  If you were a juvenile transported across state lines to be prostituted - you could prosecute the guy under the Mann Act of 1910.  However, up until the 1970's the only TWO people ever charged under the Mann Act were two African American men.  Chuck Berry the musician and Joe Johnson, the boxer.  They had married white women and then went across state lines.  Clearly our police did not understand what sex trafficking was with the Mann Act or there would have been better prosecutions than that!

But there wasn't because when we'd call the police for help they would view us as CRIMINALS and pretty much hang up on us.  Nicholas Cage was in a great film "Frozen Ground" which really depicted how the police treated us back then very realistically.  If you've seen it you'd know why most of us didn't even bother to call the cops when someone was coming after us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hs6fcLney6c

Once the Trafficking Act passed in 2000 - this meant basically that our government would not spend money to help us be "rescued and restored" on an official level.  From 1987 until 2000 when we'd get calls from someone needing to get some kind of help we had to arrange to get it through networking because there were no trafficking grants, no trafficking fund raisers, and it was like trying to help people who were calling up saying they needed help to get way from  "little green men from mars".  I'm not kidding either - most people didn't even believe our stories back then just as they didn't believe Linda's.

In 2002, Polaris opened up the National Trafficking Hotline.
In one of Jennifer O'Kane's tapes, she says to "call Awaken".  Well Awaken never answers their phone.  Not in the years that I've called and others have called.  We always get a voicemail when we've called.  But if you feel you were "trafficked" or forced into the sex industry or even intimidated into some part of the sex industry - yes you can call the National Trafficking Hotline.

Under the resources for Nevada I want to show you that we are really the only emergency hotline to call.  Let me show you a screen shot of Nevada resources for the Polaris National Trafficking Hotline

I want you first to look up in the upper right hand corner of the screen shot.  I want you to see a pop up that will ask you for your location.  Now if you are in a dangerous situation - understand something here - if you are inside of the Bunny Ranch and you go onto the Polaris site and this pops up then they will capture your IP address showing not only you're at the Bunny Ranch, but even what computer you're on.

Now let's be grown-ups here - criminals have spies and informants.  Look at Whitey Bulger and how many informants he had to tip him off if someone was going to move against him.   Don't think for a minute that IF  Dennis was some really bad dude that he couldn't hire someone to get a job on that hotline or hack into their files or in 100 ways be able to tell if someone at his brothel is going onto the Polaris website because it happens.  The same for your phone.  If you have a pimp who is monitoring your phone then potentially he might be alerted that your phone is going onto their site.  So really carefully consider if you would be endangering yourself in any way by going onto that site.

What if you are in a criminal situation?  We have a 5th amendment in this country which allows you not to incriminate yourself.  If you are in a drug house for example where the IP address would direct law enforcement to you sitting on a shitload of drugs - then you need to consider if you're incriminating yourself here in any way before clicking on that popup or moving forward.

NONE of these things by the way happen if you reach out to our hotline for help at www.sexworkersanonymous.com  You will not see any pop-up when you go there.  NO ONE has access to our computer records but myself.  If anyone tries to hack into our records I will be alerted.  I have been threatened, bribed, hit with a subpena and a warrant to try and obtain information on who contacts us and they get nothing.

Now when you go down the list of people to contact in Nevada for help the first name you see is the Alameda Prosecutor.  DO NOT call that number first until I explain something.

But first, notice Sex Workers Anonymous IS listed under Nevada resources of who to call for help when trafficked in Nevada.

Now I'm going to tell you WHY I do not recommend you call the Alameda Prosecutors Office HEAT nor Nancy O'Malley for help when being trafficked or trying to leave the sex industry.   I first heard of them when they were organizing a trafficking conference in Los Angeles.  I offered to come share my experience with them in this field being it's 30 years now and 500,000 calls on the hotline.  I myself have been in recovery since 1985.  I was told I could "send them some flyers they'd leave on the literature table" but that they "did not have time for me to present anything".  I was not even invited to come as a guest to the event. I know a blow-off when I hear one.  If you're holding a conference on alcoholism and Bill Wilson offers to come speak - if you really CARE about alcoholism then you'll respond.

So clearly they don't.  And they DON'T.   I got a google that over $1,000,000 was being spent on a billboard campaign in Alameda County for sex trafficking victims to get help.  The url which was being plastered all over Alameda was www.protectourkids.org   Well I went to that address and found a BUS SCHEDULE.  That was it.  So I tried to contact Nancy and alert her there was a problem and didn't get a call-back.  I went to the Board of Supervisors and told them this went nowhere and got no response.  FOR SIX MONTHS I hounded these people this link went nowhere and finally, after six months of hounding them by email, it now goes to a lovely site that doesn't do jack shit.

Go on - take a look at it.  Now imagine you're a trafficking victim needing help to get away to help.  Do you see anything on there that helps you do this?  Let's say you see a kid right there in trouble - do you see anything on there that tells you what to do with that kid?  Slick million bucks in the pocket - good one Nancy!  Now THAT'S a "trick"!

I then started getting some calls from women in her area needing help.  Now when our hotline gets a call we ALWAYS try and use the local resources first before doing anything on our own to assist.  It is only when we fail to get assistance for them that we personally then respond.  Now let me know you something about what is going on in Alameda - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/oakland-police-sex_us_58094a1fe4b02444efa28c08

Now before I go further, let me say that when these people called me for help it was because they had tried other methods first.  I am not the first call usually.  One woman had told me she called 911.  She was told that "unless you have an emergency where we can call police, fire, or ambulance - then we need to ask you to call the non-emergency line".

You see where www.protectlakids.org takes you to.  But remember the name Celeste Guap.  Because her mother is a 911 operator.  Keep that in mind.  Meaning when you would call 911 in this region you would then possibly be getting her mother, or someone who works with her mother.   You will note from the Huffington  Post article it states that "Celeste was being tipped how to avoid trafficking raids and outreach".  I can assure you she was not the only person alerted to such things.  But remember "alert" is an interesting word because what if you WANT HELP?  Only this uniformed active duty police officer or prosecutor is TELLING YOU NOT TO BE THERE at such and such a time where you could GET HELP?

I mean is "alert" the right choice of words here?   How about "order"?  How about if I'm being trafficked by over 30 cops in this area, and my mother is fielding 911 calls and I want to get the hell out from under this situation but don't know where to turn because when I go to the Polaris site it tells me to call the very people who are trafficking me - and then when there's an outreach or raid going on they're "ordering" me not to go there where I might get help.  So you know what do you do?

You call me.  Only I tried then contacting Nancy O'Malley myself directly.  I told her the truth - that I had women who had reached out to me because they couldn't reach out to the traditional authorities and I wanted to talk to her about it.  I got told "I'll call you in a few days" and never ever got a call back.  I tried to reach her a few times after that - and just got no response.  THAT'S when I got hostile - not before by the way.  I got hostile because this woman got an $80,000 grant from Swanee Hunt to be someone to help these women.  Not only was she pulling stunts like this billboard campaign, but she was refusing to talk to me about the calls my hotline's getting?  I mean don't you think that's a form of fraud against Swanee Hunt?

When the news broke about Celeste Guap in the press - I reached out to try and make contact with her because I was very scared for her safety.  I've been in her shoes and I've had cops scared I was going to prosecute them for having sex with me and I've had cops try and kill me literally for being afraid I would reveal we'd had sex so I was very very scared for her life.  I say that because when I was arrested  I did have a tape of four cops having sex with me and some of my girlfriends, as well as getting high.   They realized they were on Candid Camera when raiding the warehouse they found the hidden cable wires and the VCR.  I had the tape elsewhere.  I'm not going to go into the whole story but yes these cops were so worried what I was going to do with those tapes I had more than one attempt made on my life back then.  My attorney finally negotiated with them the tapes would only be released  IF I was harmed and we got the attacks to stop.

But Nancy responded back "I've got this".  Okay Celeste is then taken in a police car to a Florida treatment program.  I'm not asked for a recommendation on a good place to send someone like Celeste.  Suddenly, she's arrested for assault on a guard at the facility and given a $300,000 bail.  Her talking to the press stops.  I've been there done that too - this is where you get threatened into shutting your mouth to the press.  Which her interviews did stop after she was released when this happened.

Is Celeste out of sex work and safe?  Her Facebook appears to be actively hooking so I'd say "no".  Now can I help her?  I know we can do more for her than I see Nancy doing.  Oh yes Nancy's announced 7 cops will be prosecuted for having sex with her.  I'm not hearing anything about sex trafficking though.  I also know that since there's no DNA or semen that this boils down to her testimony.  I know no prostitute has ever won a rape case - let alone against a cop.  So if she lives long enough to testify, and does, then what is going to happen?  What's happening right now to cops who are shooting people dead?  So I'm not holding my breath here.

Celeste illustrates why WE STILL don't have a system set up yet to help these men and women.  I would also like to know what Nancy did with the $80,000 Swanee gave her?  She's impounding cars off johns right and left so that's a lot of money.  We have very good treatment programs right here in southern California.  In fact, with 80 percent of the porn industry here in the valley we have some very good treatment programs who could help Celeste get clean and out of the industry.  But she's sent to Florida?  What treatment program has a uniformed guard?  What treatment program would have a client in early detox arrested for assault?  I'm sorry but most addicts ARE combative in early recovery.  It's their job to MANAGE those emotions.   To have her arrested because of their employee I think is the height of negligence.  Either that or it was staged and deliberate.  I've never had something like that happen to anyone we've gotten into treatment and over 30 years - that's a lot of people.

Now, Jennifer is telling people to "call the US Attorney's Office to report Dennis Hof raped you".  That is NOT what the US Attorney's office would tell you to do.  They would tell you to first call Crimestoppers.  http://www.crimestoppersusa.org/

You should not EVER just call up an office like this blindly.  Criminals have informants everywhere.   In Columbia, it is well known if you reach out to the police to report on the Cartel, they are tapped right into the phone company and you will get a visit from very unhappy people if you do that.   What if there are informants there?  What if the phones are tapped by the criminals?  Do you think criminals don't do counter-surveillance on the cops who might be watching them?  Think again - we just had a Chinese spy popped out of our FBI.

We had another one poped out of Homeland Security, ICE and the trafficking task forces - Joohon David Lee.  https://www.justice.gov/usao-cdca/pr/former-hsi-special-agent-pleads-guilty-taking-bribes-korean-businessman-being

I could go on.  My point being DO NOT just call up somewhere and start blabling about what happened to you.  For one thing, how do you know you're not incriminating yourself?  If there is a chance you might - then I'd advise YOU seek an attorney FIRST before shooting off your mouth about someone else.

I made a bad mistake once.  I had been "recruited" by some organized traffickers who had heard I'd gotten divorced and I was broke.  They sent a man in to convince me to come to work for them again as a madam.  I actually considered it until I saw what they were doing to the Chinese and Latina women.  Yes the "white girls" were being treated well.  But the Chinese women were being worked in houses with mattresses on the floor and not allowed to leave.  The Latina women were being treated like dogs.  It brought back memories of why I left the industry in the first place.  I was very worried about these Chinese and Latina women and there was no way to get them out of there myself.  They were literally being kept locked up on private property.

I made the mistake of going to Chief Gillispie in Las Vegas with the information.  I gave him the addresses where the women were being held, where the chop shop was, where the drugs were packed into the cars, where the brothels were, and the whole 9 yards.  I gave him phone numbers, addresses, names on bank accounts and leases, and the whole 9 yards.

At 2:00 a.m. the next morning I had a knock on my door.  It was one of the women.  She told me that the Chief had come in telling everyone to "clear out of there now".  She told me to go with her in the car to the brothel address and I'd see.  The whole house had been gutted and when we went inside I could even smell the bleach.  They had cleaned and scrubbed the whole operation down to nothing.  This woman was 8 months pregnant and they didn't want to worry about transporting her so they just told her to "split".  Luckily she had remembered where I lived and walked there to get help.

Now if I just had the Chief of Police clean up the evidence this woman was being trafficked who do you think I'm going to call to help this woman?  https://nevadastatepersonnelwatch.wordpress.com/2012/11/24/fifteen-members-of-las-vegas-sheriff-douglas-gillespies-organization-have-been-served-with-a-federal-complaint/
I'm not going to tell you what we did with her but she's fine now.  The baby is great.  Chief Gillispie has been dealt with.  So Jennifer - I think I know what I'm doing in this area.  I do not believe Awaken properly advised you what to do in this situation because  I wouldn't be having you make a video up talking about calling the Polaris hotline about Dennis and I'll tell you why.

A couple of years ago, California passed SB1193.  This is a law requiring their hotline be posted at all sex industry outlets.  http://www.castla.org/senator-steinberg-s-sb-1193-hotline-posting-factsheet

Polaris came into California and got that law passed pretty much putting up that hotline everywhere in California.  In fact, Polaris got that hotline law passed in a lot of states.

Here it is in Connecticut - https://polarisproject.org/blog/2016/08/05/connecticut-moves-toward-eradicating-human-trafficking-hotels-and-motels-new-law

I
n fact, Katherine Chon, co-founder of Polaris got decriminalized prostitution OUTLAWED in Rhode Island in 2007.  http://www.browndailyherald.com/2007/02/15/local-activists-work-to-end-ri-human-trafficking/  Her and Derek Ellerman, who "has a career thanks to Ron Paul" he says.  Ron Paul gets regular donations from Dennis Hof by the way.  Rhode Island was Nevada's legal brothels' ONLY competitor in the USA and now they're not thanks to Ms. Chon's work.  Here is an article showing Hof's very outspoken support of Ron http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/17/secret-service-prostitutes-dennis-hof-american-hookers_n_1432210.html

W
ell he certainly got Dennis his money's worth!  Shot down a whole state of competitors to the guy!
Use some common sense here.  If Polaris was going to do jack shit against Dennis Hof - then why (1) is one of the first things Katherine Chon do was to shut down Dennis' competitor?, (2) why have all these other states been ordered to post up signs with the National Trafficking Hotline on it but NEVADA HAS NOT, and (3) why does the Polaris resource listing for Nevada have like 100 other names on top of ours that aren't even for Nevada which essentially BURIES our information?
Is it because they're "great resources" for Nevada?  Remember, this is NOT who to call if you've been RAPED.  This is who to call if you've been TRAFFICKED.  You don't call them if you want help to exit sex work.  To exit sex work you have to contact us (if you're over 18 years old otherwise www.childrenofthenight.org).

Well let's see how good these resources are if you're trying to escape a sex trafficking situation.  Since most calls come in after 5 pm to our hotline - I
called those numbers starting at 5:15 pm on 11/18/16.  I recorded each call to verify what happened.

Alameda – Remember what happened to Celeste Guap?  Besides, this is California - not Nevada.

Alliance for Community Transformation Hotline – no answer

Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Voicemail saying “will return your call within two days) when you push #1 for legal assistance

Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach – Voicemail

Awaken – Voicemail

CAST – doesn't have “resources in Nevada”. The operator said they can “only help if you relocate to California”.

National CAST Hotline (888) 373-7888 – was on hold for five minutes listening to music.

Community Against Sexual Harm – Voicemail

Community Violence Solutions - Disconnected

Courage Worldwide – not taking intakes until the fall on recording.

Fresno Central Valley – youth shelter for those under 18 years of age in Fresno, California

Hookers for Jesus – Voicemail saying “call back during business hours”

International Institute – Voicemail

International Institute – Duplicate of above

International Rescue Committee Phoenix – Voicemail

International Rescue Committee HOPE - Voicemail

LACY – Recording saying calls “are not confidential and it takes sometimes 4 days to return calls. Further, they do not work with criminal matters – only helping teens or teen mothers with custody cases”.

Live Violence Free – Got a woman on the line saying they offer domestic violence assistance to Nevada residents.

Made for Them - Voicemail

Monterey Rape Crisis – they answered saying they only service Monterey county in California

My Sisters House – recording tells me to “call back the 24 hotline and gives me the same # I just dialed)

Operation Safehouse – recording it's for a youth shelter

Redemption Ridge – a hotline for sex trafficking in Oregon

Restoration Railroad – does not provide services in Nevada

RISE – press 1 to speak to an advocate. The woman who answered said she was not an advocate. They provide shelter in San Luis Obispo, but not Nevada

San Francisco Asian Womens' Shelter. Referred me to their “national hotline” of 415 8644722. A recording comes on saying they're a domestic violence hotline. A woman answered saying they “do not provide direct services in Nevada”.

Saving Innocence – voicemail saying leave a message.

Sex Workers Anonymous. Our hotline is not listed as a 24/7 hotline. The web link goes to an old radio show I no longer produce at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/stopsextrafficktalk. That is NOT our web address of www.sexworkersanonymous.com I have not produced this show in YEARS which is why the web address and phone number on the radio show are no longer working. It makes it appear we aren't anything other than a radio program.

The RISE Group Homes – Voicemail

Salvation Army SEEDS Program I got told to call x 232.  Then told to call x 230.  Then back to x232.  No one answered.

Utah Domestic Violence Hotline – got a recording saying I'd be on “hold less than five minutes”. Since this is for Utah I hung up.

WEAVE – told me they could “look up referrals for services in Nevada”. Since WEAVE is in Sacramento, then I doubt they have much in the way of Nevada referrals.

West Coast Childrens Clinic - they only serve women and children with Medi-Cal – which is California health insurance.

TRUCKERS AGAINST TRAFFICKING

I started helping women wanting to escape the legal brothels of Nevada in 1988.  Back then it was to get away from Joe Conforte, who was the owner of the Mustang Ranch at first.  When the Shady Lady opened up - it was owned by the Hell's Angel's.

So the women wanted away from them, their pimps, or the tricks who would know they could rape these women without them calling the cops.  So guys who liked to rape women violently were being allowed to come there and do what they wanted according to what I heard knowing they wouldn't be able to call the cops about him.

Heck, one told me it was a cop who was raping her when working there!  The guy who was the cop who was supposed to pick up the HIV/AIDS test results weekly she told me was allowed to do what he wnated with the women in exchange for not taking in the test kit.   You can hear her tell the story of what she went through there here - www.blogtalkradio.com/stopsextrafficktalk/2013/07/08/hear-from-a-nevada-brothel-prostitute  She's the woman who testified at the hearing about expanding brothels into downtown Las Vegas where the Mob Museum now stands instead of a brothel - and won.

The brothels tried to keep the hearing off the calendar so no one would show up to oppose them - but we have a lot of friends in high places who told us of what was going on.  In fact we got the call "you better get someone down here fast" and she was the closest one who had come out of there who wanted to testify.

Others report their pimps are allowed to push them into working when they don't want to.  They are not given their own money - with it going to their "manager".  That way they can't take their own money and leave.  You ever wonder why they don't "just leave"?  How would you like someone to have all your money, and then not have a car, be out in the middle of nowhere, in a town so small there's no cab or limo company that will come out to pick you up and get you out of there.  I mean if there was cabs - I could just order one to go and pick them up.  But the nearest cab is an hour away - and that's only one brothel.  The others are hours from the nearest cab.

They can't walk out either.  The rules are pretty much after 9 pm a brothel prostitute can't be on the streets.  The law was made supposedly because housewives didn't want to worry about their husbands being tempted when these women were off-duty.  Please!    Also, you can't leave the brothel within the first 24 hours of your shift.  The reason is because they're waiting on your HIV results to come back before you leave.   Also, you can't leave within 48 hours of coming on your first shift.

Meaning, if you're walking down the street at 10 pm trying to get out of the brothels and away from them - you can have a cop come and threaten to arrest you if you don't go back with him to the brothel.

There used to be a Greyhound bus that would go from one end of the state to the other.  I used to have the women have a client take them to the bus stop, and then from there I had them come to me, or wherever they wanted to go.  If they wanted treatment - we would get them treatment.   If they were under 18 years of age - they could go to any airport or bus station and www.childrenofthenight.org would fly or bus them to their residential program in California.  When I had put together safe house in Nebraska - I used to have them take the bus right to me from Nevada.  If they wanted a more formal program there was the Mary Magdalene Project in Los Angeles or the Dignity Project in Phoenix.

When we got Sharnel Silvey connected up into this recovery movement - she set up the first alternative sentencing program in Nevada out of Reno.   She would go into the brothels with roses and talking Bible which would chase away the owners.  Then she'd leave the hotline # in the roses with them if they wanted out.  When they would leave the brothel but continue hooking in Reno or Carson City - they'd get busted.  So she set up the alternative sentencing program for them there.  The plan was to do it for two years and then expand into Clark County (Las Vegas).

But we needed housing.  Housing with no money and nothing but the clothes on their backs when they'd leave.  Also, we needed it where they didn't own the local cops.  Tonopah was a blessing for us in they only had a few cops who were really cool and nice to us.   A man there owned the local motel, apartment buildings, a casino, laundromat, thrift store, even a car lot.  So we could bring them into the motel at 2:00 a.m.  Then get the voucher to move them into the apartment on Monday, along with a voucher for furniture and clothing.   From there he'd give them a job and take payments on a car.  After about a year - they'd be ready to move on to another state on their own.

The problem was when Joe learned they were hoping on the bus - suddenly Greyhound discontinued their route from one end of the state to the other.  So Sharnel was on the northern end.  I was on the Vegas end.  The housing and jobs were in Tonopah which is the middle of the state.  These women weren't able to leave with a car or money.   So how do we get them from one end to the other?

Thanks to truck drivers.  I would get onto the CB and I made friends with some great drivers.  A couple of them had regular routes where that's all they did was go from one end of the state to the other and back.  So we could pretty much tell these women to get to a certain gas station and hop on with so and so and they'd get to where they needed to go.  These men were angels.  They fed these women, kept them safe, and never touched them inappropriately.    Some would even pretend to be their "john" and then take them out on an "outdate" to get them out of the brothel.   These truck drivers were our angels.

When Truckers Against Trafficking formed - I thought what a great idea to harness more of these wonderful men to maybe organize more than I was doing.  Because I would sometimes need to get a woman from say Florida into Los Angeles, or Canada, and I could get into the CB and usually find someone willing to do this heroic act for these women.  But I was just one person.  I could imagine if this was harnessed nationally what a great idea.

When they first launched TAT's, I spoke to their founder.  I told her what we had been doing.  She didn't want to hear it.  She started in with "all that could go wrong" and all the laws this was violating, and how these men could be fired, etc.  I told her these were grown men capable of making their own decisions and if they wanted to risk their jobs to save these women that was their decision.  Then she started in with how these men might rape the women in the cab and I got offended.  I'd never heard back from one of these women of a trucker ever being inappropriate.  I also explained to her I knew these men and I always had a photo of their truck, their ID, their plates, and that if a woman did disappear I knew who they were with and there would be no point because the drivers knew I knew all this information and I was usually on the phone with the woman off and on during the ride anyway.

She didn't want to hear it.  She sounded completely disgusted with me and never spoke to me after that initial phone call.

Since then I've heard from many a member of TATS.  They'd told me they're trained to call the National Trafficking Hotline when they see a woman in trouble.   When they call the hotline - they say to call the local police or trafficking task force.  Each trafficking task force in the USA is headed by the local police so it's the same thing if the task force is the police - it's the same thing.

When they say they've called the task force or police - the victim runs.  Well I know why.  She might have a warrant.  She might have been raped by this cop. http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-lapd-officers-sexual-assault-20160217-story.html    This cop might even be her pimp.  http://nypost.com/2016/02/02/nypd-cop-ran-tri-state-prostitution-ring-officials-say/   He could be a "john" of hers.  http://tucson.com/news/local/crime/tucson-police-employees-fired-over-prostitution-probe/article_c5844708-e3bc-5275-af3a-401aeb4d9676.html  He could be on the pimp's payroll.  Who knows but most women if they wanted to see a cop would call a cop themselves.  http://patch.com/california/sanramon/private-investigator-christopher-butler-pleads-guilty0df4c86437

So the drivers say the women have just run out of the truck and of course now none of the working girls will go near them again because "he called the cops".

I have spoken to some of the members of TATS now who tell me they have been FULLY advised of the legal risks they're taking putting an unauthorized passenger in their cabs.  Needless to say when I have asked them to help me get a victim from point a to point b - they really have to think twice about it and it now takes me at least 10 times more calls to find a "yes" now.

Here's what I want you all to know - if a woman gets out of a legal brothel in Nevada and to a gas station where she asks a trucker to take her to safety, and if that trucker calls the National Trafficking Hotline, who then advises him to call the local police/task force - here's what's going to happen:

If it's after 9 pm in most parts of Nevada - they will tell the woman she has to go back to the brothel or be arrested because of the curfew laws.

If it's within 24-48 hours of her coming onto the shift in most parts of Nevada - they will tell her if she doesn't come back with them to the brothel they will arrest her under the law pertaining to the HIV test incubation period.

Just FYI.

Oh, one other thing - girls 16 to 18 years of age are getting work permits to work in the restaurant section of the brothel which is in the same building as the brothel.   There are also some strip clubs who agree not to serve alcohol in the stage area of the strip club where there are 16 year old girls stripping in Nevada.  I get mixed answers about whether it's legal or not but I know this - I have picked up 16 year old girls as they've finished a shift in the strip club coming out of there with nothing on them but a backpack and some $1.00's so they are working in the strip clubs at 16 years of age.  We've then got them into treatment at places we know offering free treatment because each one of those girls has been on drugs we've picked up the pimp/dealer got them hooked on.  Two of those girls were pregnant with the pimp's baby.  Which by the way means they can't not tell him where they live with the baby or be charged with kidnapping.

Just so you know - there is no way around this other than to prove abuse of the child which by then is too late.  Every state in the USA will extradite also for child custody issues - which is why we recommend Canada as they don't.

Anyway, meaning if a trucker calls the police on a woman running out of the legal brothels of Nevada there's a good chance she'll be taken right back or arrested for leaving.

Are they aware of this?  Well that's what they get when they hire someone like Beth Jacobs as one of their training instructors.  I'll go into her more on another post as to her qualifications.

Okay I'll give you a hint - she was the person claiming to be a social worker when seeing trafficking victims who were in Project Rose.  You remember them?  http://www.vice.com/read/in-arizona-project-rose-is-arresting-sex-workers-to-save-them  They're the ones who threatened to arrest women they caught walking down the street with jail if they didn't attend the classes they gave in Phoenix, Arizona.  Only she wasn't a licensed social worker.  Yes I have screen shots of her being online representing to be a "social worker" in the active licensed sense.  Here's what the state board has to say about her status however - http://azbbhe.us/ProDetail.asp?ProfID=30945  She holds no license either in counseling, drug abuse or marriage and family counseling in Arizona.

Beth said in a fund raiser that she couldn't get her license because of "her felony record" because of being a trafficking victim.   However, when I called the licensing board (and recorded the call if you'd like to hear their answer), they claimed it was because of "psychiatric hospital admissions within the last five years".

Too bad Beth doesn't like to avail herself of any of the things we offer our members which include expunging records for free without having to come up with $1,000's of dollars for an attorney to help out (at least so far).  We've been able to package the evidence along with the motion to show the court how these people have changed since the arrest (because trying to prove trafficking would mean if you had proof you wouldn't have the charge in the first place), and how the record is limiting them and we've had the courts be wonderful about understanding our members not being able to afford an attorney for something they need so they can make more money.   Meaning walking in court with an expensive attorney doesn't really demonstrate how badly they need their records expunged.   Anyway, I offered this to Beth anyway when I heard but she refused to speak to me as usual.

Now am I saying that this means she's not a good trainer for TATS being that she's a survivor and survivors have issues like this routinely?  Not at all.  But when they hire someone who has a history of going online and CLAIMING to be a licensed social worker and REPRESENTING they are one to their clients and the public - then I'm pointing to the quality of their hiring choices.

Below is the list of resources the hotline lists for Nevada.  Hookers for Jesus is a residential program for one year that I was told last week is full.  The Salvation Army Seeds Program refers the women to a domestic violence shelter.  They do not offer transportation. Meaning you have to get to Las Vegas to use their services.  The other programs seem to be in California and Arizona and do not offer transportation.  I find it strange that Children of the Night is not listed since they offer not only a hotline for teens to call who want to get out of prostitution for any reason, but they also offer free transportation.  Meaning they can get to any cab, bus station or airport and they will transport them.  They are trained also in how to get the boy or girl away from the pimp who may be present at the time of the call.   As for "Awaken" in Reno, I've seen their constant fund raisers and outreach trainings they charge for to attend - but I've yet to see an outreach project, or any "rescues".  They refused to return Aubrey's call.  When I called them about Aubrey they did call her and offer free counseling.  However, they never then followed up and called her back with any counseling.  I have called them since to help me with other clients in northern Nevada only to never receive an answer. I have called asking them to help me with outreach in northern Nevada - and have never received an answer.

As for everyone else on the list - they're not even in Nevada and to my knowledge do not provide transportation to them in California or Arizona.  Our program appears to be the only one on the list that can be called 24/7 and will go and pick them up, take them where they need to go, and providing 12 step centered ongoing program of recovery no matter what state or country they wind up going to once leaving.

So in my opinion asking them to "call the task force" in Nevada won't work since there isn't one now to my knowledge.  I was told there was going to be a meeting in October, but then it was postponed.  I have not heard of a new date yet.  I've asked for the new head of the task force to please contact me last October of 2015 and have not received an answer from anyone yet.

To my knowledge, the founder of Truckers Against Trafficking http://www.truckersagainsttrafficking.org/  is not a survivor, nor has any experience with rescues I'm aware of.   While I appreciate their work raising awareness of trafficking to truckers - I have to say I don't understand their methods - especially when it comes to Nevada.  Now if I was allowed to consult with them to improve their program as I've offered to do for free repeatedly - then it might be different.  But I'm sure they have their reasons why they've instead chosen not to return my calls and hire someone to do training who got her initial recovery herself in a program that our program was part of their program.  Breaking Free is a residential program that has their clients participate in "Prostitutes Anonymous" meetings (as we were called prior to 1995).

http://www.gvnews.com/news/local/she-wants-a-better-life-for-victims/article_d59fce8e-484f-11e4-ab97-87323bfdee2f.html  Breaking Free ran "Prostitutes Anonymous" meetings (our program before the name change in 1995 to Sex Workers Anonymous" during the time Beth was a client there.

NEVADA, SEX TRAFFICKING, LEGAL BROTHELS & SHARNEL SILVEY

I moved to Nevada in April of 1996.  I had been getting these horrible phone calls from Nevada since 1988 and was feeling powerless for many of these calls.  Let me give you an idea why.

Reno and Carson City are on the northern end of Nevada.  Las Vegas is on the southern or opposite end of the state.  Pahrump is one hour outside of Las Vegas.  There is only one highway that goes from one end of the state to the other.

Up to 2012, there was no Greyhound bus line that would go from one end of the state to the other.  Meaning if you wanted to go from Las Vegas to Reno before 2012, and didn't have a car you were just out of luck.  Take a look at a Nevada map to see what I mean by how the state is laid out.

There are strip clubs in the Las Vegas area, along with a lot of massage parlors, and the same for Carson City and Reno area.  But the smaller towns in between like Beatty and Goldfield - they're very small towns.   Now take a look on the map at where the Bunny Ranch Dennis Hof owns is with respect to Carson City.  The Bunny Ranch is a THREE 1/2 hour drive from Las Vegas and an EIGHT HOUR from Reno.

Then take a look at where the Mustang Ranch is 20 minutes outside of Reno on this map.

Here's where you can really visualize what it's like in Nevada to drive to these legal brothels on Google Maps.   Twenty minutes doesn't sound like a lot but when you're driving it down a dark highway - it feels like forever! https://www.google.com/maps/place/World+Famous+Mustang+Ranch/@39.5439694,-119.5574578,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x8099225f746c934d:0x275b77de4045461a  You can go into Google Maps and type in their address, and actually look around from a 360 degree angle to see photographically what you'd see driving in and out of these brothels into the middle of a dirt highway.   Then imagine it at night.

Now many brothels have shut down like the Shady Lady for example.  Here's a map of where there are existing brothels as of 2016.   Which keep in mind is even fewer than Nevada had years ago before the 2008 economic crash.

Brothels are allowed to operate in Nevada in Lyon County, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_brothels_in_Nevada, Lander, Humboldt, Mineral, Nye, Storey, White Pine and Elko County.  There were no legal brothels in Nevada before 1971 either.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mustang_Ranch  As far as I know, there is no other state but Nevada that has legal brothels.  While some states have areas where it's not illegal such as Rhode Island for a while allowed it to operate behind closed doors.

The legal age of consent for sex in Nevada is 16 years old - and one can apply for a license to work in these brothels as a legal prostitute at 18 years of age also in some counties like Lyon.    Some counties require that you have to be 21 years old.  The laws have changed and at one time you could be over 16 to be licensed as a brothel prostitute.  When the child trafficking law was passed  in 2013 http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/las-vegas/nevada-movement-draws-line-human-trafficking  - that's when the brothel license had to elevate their legal age to 18 years of age. http://prostitution.procon.org/sourcefiles/LyonCountyTitle5Chap3Prostitution.pdf

Another fact not commonly known is that some brothels in Nevada have built-in strip clubs.  To work as a dancer in the club, one only needs a work and sheriff's card.  You can be younger than 18 years old to get a work and sheriff's card.  NRS 609.210 has an exception "unless the minor is in the casino area to provide entertainment pursuant to an employment contract".  Meaning they can work as an entertainer with a "contract" under 18 years of age.

In fact, in 2014 the court ruled that stripping is a "job".  Because it's a "legal job", therefore one can get a work permit to work a "job" under 18 years of age with special work permits in Nevada.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2815137/Nevada-court-says-Strip-club-dancers-employees.html  To get the exception to work there under 18 years of age - the "sale of alcohol can't be the primary business".  Which of course in a brothel/strip club the service of alcohol is not "primary".

Meaning that when we've heard women talk about 16 year old's working in the strip clubs literally in the same building as the brothel - yes it's legal in Nevada.  How?  Because the strip club is in the brothel where the "primary business" is the brothel so the sale of alcohol in that club is "secondary".  Meaning that yes it's legal for a 16 year old to be stripping in that strip club literally in the same building as the brothel.  Which in some cases is separated by only a few steps.

* Note - you can't get a license to work in a brothel with a past record for conviction on a prostitution charge.  The Cupcake Girls and  Nevada Speaker of the House, John Hambrick, made a claim that "strippers were not able to find work because of a prostitution conviction and/or they weren't able to expunge their records for a prostitution arrest.

Based on this claim - this law was passed by their efforts in 2013. https://www.leg.state.nv.us/Session/78th2015/Minutes/Senate/JUD/Final/1207.pdf.  It states basically that "if you can prove to a judge you were trafficked that judge can expunge your records".  Okay let's use some common sense here.  If you could prove you were trafficked when you were in court the first time - YOU WOULDN'T HAVE A PROSTITUTION CONVICTION.

The thing is, Joy Hoover had a volunteer working with her organization  when she lobbyied for this law who was working as a secretary at another company than Cupcake Girls with a past record so she KNEW that it does NOT block one from finding work in Nevada.  Here's a website showing the names of companies in Nevada who hire FELONS.  https://xamire.com/felons-jobs/nevada  So those companies will not give one twit about a solicitation charge which is a misdemeanor.  The Urban League gets felons work - http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/las-vegas/las-vegas-urban-league-helps-put-felons-back-work  This is a list of temp agencies that hire felons - http://local.survivalinsight.com/Felon_Friendly_Employers_Las_Vegas_NV-p1709545-Las_Vegas_NV.html  I have a list of companies who regularly hire men and women with prostitution records, even more than one conviction.  However, they don't like advertising this fact and I respect their wishes not to publish this list online.  It's not exactly great PR to shout you shout you hire ex-hookers and felons.   But since 1996, I've had no problems with ex-sex workers finding work of any kind in Nevada with a past solicitation conviction.

As for expungement, we've also had no problem with that either.  We've prepared a file where we've asked the court to review the person's employment record, their rent receipts, along with medical records if there was completed drug treatment and therapy, and letters of recommendation if they did volunteer work, joined a local church, their landlord or boss, etc.  We've also gone into court with the member explaining to the judge not only how this person has changed their life, but how their record is hindering them from that new life.  For example, if they want to obtain a real estate license to sell houses or mortgages - then the record needs to be expunged, or we need approval for them to have an exception, so they can get licensing to find work.  We've been approved on every case we've gone to court requesting expungement, or a license exception for work, without having to retain an attorney where the average retainer is $1500-2500.

Under the new law that John Hambrick and Cupcake Girls passed with this false claim showing they are actively LYING to sex workers by telling them their records will hold them back from taking other types of jobs, or obtaining other licenses for work, basically now any judge can sign to have their record expunged NOT based on proof they've left the sex industry - but instead based on what that judge considers "proof of trafficking" provided to them.  This will allow that person to obtain a license to work in the brothels.

Clever.  What a clever way to get a prostitution charge removed from your record without that silly old way we used to do it in the courts by going in with a minimum of a year's worth of records proving they were now out of the sex industry, and/or needed an expungment to obtain a license to work such as a real estate license.   I mean if they told voters and politicians that this was so a convicted prostitute could get a brothel license I doubt it would have passed.

Why do I make that accusation?  Because the premise is a lie they based this whole law passing on that's why.  Getting the right judge in Nevada to expunge records won't be hard.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/las-vegas/constable-shred-investigation-porn-star-searches  I had a judge sign a warrant claiming I had "impersonated" myself when I used my own debit card with my name on it to buy a burger.  Yep.  Not kidding.  The police came in and took my debit cards, my checkbook, and then made me come in and "prove" that I was myself in order to get them back!  BTW - the Bonaventura's are very close http://lasvegassun.com/news/2001/aug/03/former-constable-bonaventura-dies/  The constable  Bonaventura was the brother of the judge Bonaventura who is the father of the Assemblyman Bonaventura.    Makes you wonder what this Bonaventura was doing illegal searches on porn performers for doesn't it?

Okay now back to Nevada and our work there.  I wanted you to get a visual eye for how Nevada is laid out for one.  Then to see how the brothels and strip clubs are scattered all over the state.  Imagine how you can't get on a bus to get from one end of the state to the other also.   Now the two main shelters in Nevada for a prostitute in trouble would be the Shadetree for women and the Salvation Army shelters which are both in Las Vegas.  Which as you can see by the map is hours  and hours away for someone who is on the northern end of Nevada or even in Pahrump or Mound.

There are no cab companies in the towns where there's legal brothels either.  The zoning is set up for the legal brothels so that there's no other businesses within so many feet of them either.   Even if there was, there are laws in each county that restrict whether you can leave the brothel and walk down the street at all, with some counties saying you can walk out on foot, but you have a "curfew"  to be back in the brothel by 9 pm.  All of them have a 48 hour restriction when you first come to work at the brothel while waiting on your HIV/AIDS test results.  So literally the first day you walk into the brothel at maybe 18 years of age (or younger if you're there as a dancer), you can't walk out again for 48 hours!  Even you could - where would you go for a ride out of there with no cabs in the town?

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/stopsextrafficktalk/2013/07/08/hear-from-a-nevada-brothel-prostitute  This is an interview with a woman who we helped get out of the legal brothels in Nevada in 2012.  Let her describe what the conditions are like up there for her - talking about being raped daily by a police officer who was coming to supposedly pick up HIV/AIDS test results weekly.   Why didn't you hear about this?

Ironically when we went to file a complaint against the man, we were told to "file it with the Police Chief".  That was the instructions that appeared on the website for Reno also - to "file it with the Chief of Police".  The Chief was that same man she told us was raping her when he'd come to pick up the test results!  We asked for Internal Affairs for the Reno police station and were told there was none in 2012.   In 2012 and 2013 - there was no Internal Affairs office for Reno.

I remember clearly going to try and file a complaint against this officer in Reno because she reported he was not taking in the HIV/AIDS test results into the lab.  This poses a threat to public safety.  We were told that this was the policy and there's no way she was going to walk into that police station to face him to file a report.  I also know what the website said in 2012 when we went to look into filing a complaint.  However, when I went to take a screen shot of their page to show this - I found the site had changed.  It now reads there IS an Internal Affairs.  I found that quite interesting. http://www.reno.gov/home/showdocument?id=26107 In fact, in looking at the only report that appears on their site - it's dated 2014.  It also reads on the report that it's for 2010 to 2014.

I then found a document claiming that an "Internal Affairs" had actually been in existence in Nevada since the 1980's I've never seen before in google searches.  I found that interesting and wanted to see the reports for pre-2010.  I also wanted to see who was in charge in 2012 when we originally went to make the report.   Look at what I found!  A bunch of news listings on Google about a man who was "instructed to lie to Internal Affairs in Reno" but when you click on the news articles - there's nothing there!

But I kept digging and voila!  I found one article that hadn't been taken down about this "lying to Internal Affairs".  Evidently "mynews4" has removed everything about this but I found the Wisconsin Gazette paper that had published something.  http://www.wisconsingazette.com/breaking-news/reno-police-chief-hires-investigator-for-sex-harassment-case.html  Seems that officer James Steigmaier had tried to file a report to Internal Affairs and other officers supposedly responded by threatening him and "discrediting him".  Oh Jim how well I know how those shoes fit!  Ever since we started trying to file complaints against officers who were abusing women in some fashion either through rape, trafficking, violence, corruption - Nevada officers and politicians have been doing a real good job of "discrediting" me also.  Lovely things like refusing to take a police report when my front door was kicked in on the claim I "did it myself for attention".  That sort of thing.  As for my accusations that the media can't be trusted in Nevada - well explain to me where the articles went in Nevada on this issue and why the only one I can find is a paper in Wisconsin?

So you have an idea that when I'm getting calls for help to "come get me out of here" then I'm looking at literally physically if I'm not in the same town as that person making the call then there's going to be a problem.  In other states, if I get a call from a woman who has just been beat up and left by her pimp in the middle of the street somewhere I can call the local police in other cities if I don't know of anyone and ask them to help me get her to help and they'll respond.  But not in Nevada in the 1980's and 90's.  Oh no.

Nor could I tell them to "get in a cab" or "hop on a bus" or even "get on a shuttle to the airport" because they don't exist near any of the legal brothels and some of the strip clubs which are inside of the brothels.  If you read about Joe Conforte's past, he shot a famous boxer dead in cold blood IN FRONT OF A COP and didn't serve on day in jail!  Meaning that when I was outside of Nevada and I'd call the local police to help me get a woman in trouble from point A to the bus station or airport to get her out of there - I'd have the cops tell me to go fly a kite because some of them were on Joe's payroll.  Even the guy that took the fall for Joe was sentenced to "life" and then was released a few years later when the press died down.

Now you have an idea why I decided to move to Las Vegas in April of 1996.  My mother and grandmother moved there in 1994 after the Sherman Oaks earthquake had destroyed all of our homes.  We all lived in the same apartment building on Coldwater Canyon in 1994.  When the earthquake leveled our homes - I got married and moved to Nebraska.  My mom and grandmother went to Las Vegas.  So I shut down my business, canceled my radio program that was #2 in three states rating wise when I did this (second only to Husker football), sold our rental properties, and we moved to Las Vegas at first to be where my mom and grandmother were and so my mom could help also.

After we got there - then when I would get calls "please help me" I'd be able to hop into the car and go and get them to help.  The drives to Pahrump from Las Vegas wasn't bad - but the drive or flight to Carson City, Reno, was a whole other story!

Come meet Sharnel Silvey.  http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/nation/2003-04-12-brothel_x.htm  She used to manage the Mustang Ranch.  I was not the only one to want Joe out of the brothel business with the way he was abusing the women working there.  But technically what he was doing was legal.  Anything not legal everyone was too scared to file a complaint.  ESPECIALLY after he shot the boxer dead and nothing happened to him.  If you saw the movie based on him with Joe Pesci and Helen Mirren you'd know that Joe ruled his kingdom.  The women I'd help get away from him were severely traumatized and there just was no way to file any charges against the man.

Realize there was no Internal Affairs in Reno until 2012 (supposedly), and the man who used to come pick up the HIV/AIDS test results weekly I was told was the same man as the Chief of Police there in Reno for a very long time also.  The only thing I could think of was how they got Al Capone.  So I called the IRS to file a complaint against Joe knowing he didn't keep honest books.  Guys like that don't.  Sharnel helped things along by "accidentally" leaving the wrong set of books out the IRS found she told me and they found them.   She wanted out of there also but knew she'd never be able to be free until Joe was out of there first.  As you can see by that article, Sharnel still had a close relationship with the other working girls in 2003 despite the fact she was now out of prostitution, clean and sober, and attending a small church in northern Nevada which I won't name.

But after Sharnel left the sex industry, and did get clean, I was able to call upon her for help when we needed someone picked up on the northern end of Nevada.   She knew the other women working at the other brothels were being kept sheltered by having to live on the premises, and by their pimps.  Many were even kept from watching TV and many weren't allowed to read magazines even.  If you were on duty - you'd actually be penalized for reading because you had to "be ready" to do a line-up at the drop of a hat during your shift.  The Review Journal wasn't writing up any articles on our program or hotline - so how do we get help to these women when they're on the brothel grounds 99.99 percent of the time with the pimps, the madams, and the brothel owners, as well as men like Kemp Shiffer running around with his IRS badge.

How did Kemp operate for 12 years without being arrested?  Kemp was a retired police officer who became an IRS agent.  He then was one of the agents who took over "management" of the Mustang when Joe fled the country.  Knowing the legal age of consent for sex is 16 in Nevada, but 18 in California, Kemp would hop over to the Oakland area of California, hook himself up with some young girls in foster homes, group homes, with step-parents, or even a horrible mother, and talk about how they could come work as a waitress in the restaurant legally in the brothel.  Using his badge and that he was an ex-cop - people trusted him.

At 16 years old, this girl would then get a special work permit to work as a waitress in the restaurant.  That would get her inside the brothel and used to the people, the customers, the building, etc.  From working as a waitress, she would then be befriended by the other women who would teach her how to dance for more money.  Then once she turned 18 years of age - no problem getting the brothel license and by then she's worked there for two years.  That's why the IRS fired him but couldn't arrest him.  I mean why does an ex-cop and ex-IRS agent go and become an accounting professor at University of Reno?  To get access to young college girls that's why!  After 12 years of getting really cocky - he then finally did step over the line and he only gets TWO YEARS?  Really?

Anyway, I didn't want to file a 501c3 nonprofit for Sex Workers Anonymous.  If I did, then I'm open for auditing by the IRS.  I'll give you three guesses why I didn't want to open myself up for an audit by the IRS while I'm in Nevada and butting heads with Kemp Shiffer!   But we want to set up an alternative sentencing program in Nevada like I'd done in Los Angeles in 1987 and in Allentown in 1989.  To do that however, we need a nonprofit.  In Allentown, we formed the "Program for Female Offenders" and that was our nonprofit.  So Sharnel and I are wondering what we're going to do on this point.  That's when she said she could get her church to help her form "A Scarlet Covering" as a 501c3.

Now her outreach into the brothels was brilliant.  She would get these roses and put  the hotline phone number on the inside of the wrapping for the individual roses.  Then she'd go up to the brothels by trading on the fact most of the madams knew her on sight and by name so they'd talk to her.  Sharnel would then say she "wanted to give them a rose and tell them Jesus loves them" and she'd start Bible thumping.

Well - that would get the madam, or the owner, or the pimp to walk away and leave her alone with the prostitute!  They figured she was "harmless" and just talking "Bible stuff" and so they'd tune her out.  That's when she'd tell them "if you ever want help to get out of here - the phone number is inside the rose where they don't know where it is to take it from you".  Remember, these women aren't walking around with a laptop or a yellow pages.

Once she did that - the phones' ringing off the hook.  Especially those who got busted or sick and lost their brothel license.  What most would do then is just go up to Carson City/Reno area and prostitute on the streets.  Also, the young girls waiting to turn legal age would come up from California and hook in the red light districts of northern Nevada.   Pretty soon what this means is our hotline is getting an equal amount of calls from both ends of the state!   But with Sharnel, and members of her church up there on the northern end of Nevada, and me covering the southern end of Nevada - we've got the state pretty well covered.

You can read here Sharnel has got herself a job working "for friends taking care of their elderly father for $300 a week".  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/ex-prostitutes-walk-tough-road-economic-freedom-amid-recession  and that she's doing  lot of outreach now to prostitutes.  See us mentioned?  Nope.  We wanted it that way also because the ones she'd come across that needed to get away from their pimp or traffickers we didn't want them to know Sharnel was getting them into the front door, and I was taking them out the back door.

By 2009, using "A Scarlet Covering" as the 501c3 nonprofit we needed to approach the court - the first alternative to sentencing program was founded in Nevada.  Sharnel was even doing out reach with the Reno Street Enforcement Teach http://archive.rgj.com/article/20091101/LIV/911010301/Helping-hookers-Former-madam-leads-efforts-assist-prostitutes  The plan was to run this program for about two years - then after setting a great record we were going to expand the program across the whole state and into Clark County (Las Vegas).  Here's a report on the program - http://ag.nv.gov/uploadedFiles/agnvgov/Content/Hot_Topics/Victims/Final_Report_February_2011.pd

But remember when you're reading this - 2009 was still when there were powerful men trying to get the Nevada legislature to approve expanding the legal brothels into downtown Las Vegas.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/nevada-legislature/prostitution-bill-not-nevada-legislatures-agenda  Read what it says on here very very carefully.  It says "not on the agenda".  I have a tape of the proceedings if you'd like to see them.   On February 18, 2013, there were 45 "abolition" groups who went to the Nevada legislature to "support AB67" which was a sex trafficking bill.  SWOP and SWA were the only two groups who opposed AB67.

After the hearing for AB67 was over in the morning  - all those "abolitionists" went home.  They refused to stay and go in with us to that "back room hearing" that wasn't listed on the calendar where George Flint, the Brothel Association Lobbyist tried to convince them to let the brothels expand into Las Vegas.  Aubrey, the woman in the interview above, got up by herself and told the legislators what it was like inside those brothels for the women from her "first hand experience".  She also read a letter from other Nevada survivors on what we'd like to see done to change things to help us.  To their credit, the legislature turned down their bid and the Mob Museum now sits where they had once wanted to build legal brothels.  So we won!

I want you to see that in 2009 when the alternative sentencing program was created in Nevada - there were very large powers that were also wanting to expand the legal brothels geographical area of operation into Las Vegas where we also had our sights set on expanding our program to help prostitutes.   Some of those people were the brothel owners, the owners of the Review Journal, the then mayor Oscar Goodman, some men from the Cashman family (who called to threaten me and try to scare me out of Nevada saying they'd "been there longer than me"), Lance Gilman, Joe Richards, Heidi Fleiss, even Gene Simmons was considering becoming an "investor" in the "magnificent brothels" that Oscar was promoting around the world to try and get this passed.   Lance Gilman, current owner of the Mustang Ranch, is also an adviser to governor Brian Sandoval, and the head of the Nevada Board of Economic Development.  A board that includes just about every major business in Nevada such as Cox Cable, Nevada Power, the Review Journal, and a lot of other large Nevada corporations.  That's who we were up against folks!  You can read the clips about all of this at www.hightechmadam.com

Now remember that "elderly gentlemen" she was caring for now as her job for $300 a week?  He had cancer.  The man also felt grateful she was caring for him because there were no other CNA's anywhere within driving distance to his home.   So guess what?  He told her that "after his death he wanted her to go out and buy herself some new clothes".   She did.  Sharnel took and used the card he told her to use to buy what he told her to buy before he died.  Only after she did this, I remember she got a phone call from Joe in Brazil.  He had sent her an expensive piece of jewelry also.

I asked her what was up and she told me he had asked her to come down there to help him "run women" with him there where it's legal.  She turned him down and told him about what we were doing in Nevada - and our plans to expand it into Las Vegas and the whole state soon.  Well after the old man was dead and buried - the family suddenly out of left field presses charges against her for theft.  There unfortunately was no written Will to prove what he'd told her before he died and Sharnel was charged not just with theft, but with "elder abuse" as well.  She got five years.  http://www.kolotv.com/home/headlines/96102589.html  I can't help but wonder why her "friends" would turn against her like that.  I feel even more so it was a set-up because of the way the media changed after her arrest.  Before if you google'd her name - you'd see one article after the other about her work helping prostitutes in Nevada.  After the arrest - it was "elder abuse" and "thief" and just one smear after another without me being able to find one of the other articles about her work to balance out the reports on her arrest.  It looked like the media was trying to make it so that's all you saw when you went to read the story - that she was some kind of monster.

Contrast that this was her first offense, it was a misunderstanding  (or a frame-up depending upon how you look at it), and she received five years with no shortening of her sentence or time off for good behavior because it was "elder abuse".  While Kemp Shiffer got TWO YEARS.  TWO! https://www.fbi.gov/lasvegas/press-releases/2012/retired-irs-agent-sentenced-to-two-years-in-prison-for-transporting-woman-into-nevada-for-prostitution

I mean what's wrong with this court system in Nevada and their values.  I warned Sharnel walking into the court to get an attorney.  She kept insisting to me that "because of her work with the prostitutes" and her "friendship with the family" that she'd "just explain it to the judge and it will be dismissed".  I warned her I thought it was a frame-up to shut down our program and plans and to get an attorney.  They did not give her another date to pass sentence, nor any time to manage her affairs.  They literally took her right out of the court room and into prison for five years!

I remember how massive of a shock it was because no one was prepared.  We had no keys to the building where the meetings were being held - she had them.  We didn't have any of the passcodes for the email, or the voicemail on the phone - and calls and emails were just going unanswered because we had no idea how to pull up the messages.   She was also taken into prison where I was told I couldn't visit her without being put on the list first.  Which how am I supposed to reach her to tell her to put me on the list when I can't visit her?  I got nothing but the runaround every time I called the prison to try and get in to visit her to get the codes for the records, the phones, the emails, the website, etc.   I sent her more than one letter that came back claiming I hadn't "addressed it properly" or "inmate has moved" or some other excuse.

What I can talk about now I couldn't talk about back then to anyone was our "Tonopah Station" as I used to call it.  When you're getting calls from women all over the state who are calling you flat broke, no ID cards, no cars, no place to live, and maybe not even shoes on their feet because they've been thrown out of a moving car, or they've been shot five times in the back with a 9mm because of running away from their pimp - I mean what do you do?

I wasn't going to form a 501c3 and get our donors harassed by the IRS or stalled like the Tea Party was stalled for years from even being approved.  I didn't want our members files to be public record either.   You need a nonprofit to hold fund raisers and grants.  Sharnel was using "A Scarlet Covering" to run the alternative sentencing program.  We needed to be able to have a place to put women that couldn't be found.  Not by ex-cops private investigators like Chris Butler, or constables like John Bonaventura, or men with access to the Governor like Lance Gilman.

Welcome to Tonopah.  We met a man who owned just about everything in Tonopah at one time.  He owned the Clown Motel, a bunch of apartments, the little casino in town, the thrift store that sold clothing and furniture, and also he sold used cars on payments to people who had bad credit or needed a break.   The motel even served breakfast to tenants.

So guess what we could do?  We could literally show up at the motel at 2:00 a.m. with a banged up woman and get her into a room without any questions asked or needing any money.  In the morning, she'd have a continental breakfast.  Truckers stay at the motel and if we needed to get her out of state - the morning in the parking lot we could get her into the cab of one of those trucks and to wherever she needed to go courtesy of the wonderful truckers.

If not, we'd call the Pahrump social worker.  Because it's a tiny office - the worker would come right out with a bag of food, a check, a medical pending slip, a housing voucher, and a coupon good for furniture and clothing to set up a new house.   If she needed to apply for SSI disability - the worker would help her fill it out .  If not, and she needed to work - she'd be hired at the motel, the casino, the thrift store, or wherever they needed someone to work.  Then this patron saint would take those vouchers and move her into an apartment, get her some furniture, some clothing, and even get her a car on payments she could afford.  He didn't do it for charity now really.  He got paid because our program does believe in the 7th tradition.  But he worked with us to accept those payments and vouchers, and to break things down to where we could get her in and set up considering the situation.

There was a psychiatrist who was based out of Pahrump who would come up to the jail once a week and he'd see anyone who needed anti-anxiety medication or psychiatric medications.  The man who owned the hospital and ER in town also owned the town nursing home.  So if they were banged up pretty bad - we could also take her into the ER and then they'd keep her until she was well enough to be on her own.  Came in handy if she needed drug treatment because then her medical records showed she was in a nursing home not a drug treatment program.  Important to have if you don't want your medical records to say you've been in drug treatment.  It also allowed us to move her around from room to room if there was someone looking for her to keep her safe.

We had a therapist who specialized in PTSD and working with prostitutes who would do weekly therapy via skype.  We'd have weekly meetings at the local bookstore in town which was across the street from everything - the motel, the casino, the apartments, etc.   They also had NA and AA meetings there.  If she didn't have a computer for her skype therapy sessions - the bookstore would let her use their computer and a back room.

Then once they were on their feet, stable, healthy and wanted to move on out of Tonopah - they could either hit Carson City with Sharnel or Las Vegas.  If they wanted to go further - they again could hitch a ride with a trucker or they'd have the car paid off by then to drive themselves.   We had a little assembly line of recovery going by then.  There's a lot of retired veterans who live in Tonopah and would go to the AA meetings.  If I needed help to go pick up someone calling for help in Pahrump, Vegas, Mound, Reno, Lake Takoe, I could get one of the volunteers to go or even ask one of the truckers to pop on a passenger for us with "mum's" the word.  Some drivers would drive up and down the state almost daily - so we had regular truckers even we could count on to pop a woman into a truck and bring her to safety.

(PS - after Truckers Against Trafficking came to pass we have trouble getting rides from truckers anymore for victims.  Now I spend time arguing with them telling me "call the national trafficking hotline for help" and they walk away.  The few I get to call the hotline themselves to learn that's not going to get a woman from Storey County into a program in Las Vegas who has no money - take me an extra hour to convince them to call and then convince them we're not going to get them in trouble with their boss.  We're just on the "down low" as they are about it.  Seems they have trouble understanding no matter what the program may be in Nevada - no one transports the woman there and we have to get her there!)

As for those under 18 years of age - up until Judge Voy opened his courtroom we'd take them to a bus station or airport and www.childrenofthenight.org would fly them out to them.   Only after Judge Voy took over and opened courtroom 12 - he had other plans.  Before, social workers, police, probation officers, would call me when they had a minor on their hands who needed to get away from a pimp.  I had one girl who actually stabbed her pimp to death and needed to get out of Vegas before his associates came looking for her.  With her, her probation officer brought her to my house where I then got her to the airport and then to Children of the Night.

I had another case where the father was pimping both the mother and all of his four daughters.  The mother thought the only way out was to kill her daughters, and then herself, so she had drugged the girls and then tried to kill herself.  She didn't do it right and everyone wound up in the hospital.   The eldest teenager daughter when she woke up grabbed the other girls and came to my house for refuge.  I had the father banging on the door demanding I return them.  I took them out the back and put them on a bus to Children of the Night and they're all fine now.  One graduated college, and the other is married with two kids now.

Now in 2007 - I had given a press conference about how sex trafficking was real in the legal sex industries of Nevada.  I have clips at www.hightechmadam.com about this international press conference.  Judge Voy was aware of the press conference - so he knew we were operating in Nevada in 2007.  So it's not like no one knew who I was in Las Vegas in 2008 when Judge Voy decided a better approach to teen prostitution was to not give them to us, not give them to Children of the Night, but to instead lock them up in jail.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/judge-touts-safe-house-kids-ensnared-prostitution   BTW - he admitted in print he had locked up girls WITHOUT there being a criminal charge because he was "worried" they "might work the streets".  I'm sorry but isn't there a law about "habeas corpus" or something about you can't "deny someone their freedom without due process"?

He then starts parading these teens in jail around to the press while asking for $2,000,000 to open his own residential 14 bed program.  Mind you - he sees 14 girls at least a week in his courtroom.  Having 14 beds wasn't going to even put a dent in being enough IF you could get those girls to stay in a locked down facility.   The only way would be to arrest them and then force them to stay.  This lock-down program also takes them out of school, and away from any good friends and family they have, a local church program, and certain away from other survivors in recovery.

Meaning in 2008, suddenly I have a judge who has decided instead of getting these girls into existing help he's going to parade them around while asking for money like they do with abused animals to get money donated to the ASPCA.   Oh I forgot - an operating budget yearly of $649,000.  Where is that going to come from?  This was the "better solution" than the existing one we had which wasn't costing the state a penny.  For those sent to Children of the Night - Nevada never paid one penny for their transportation or their housing. Those who came to us - same thing.  We never charge for what we do.   But after Judge Voy opened courtroom 12 - every social worker, probation officer, and cop was told by him and by the mayor Oscar Goodman that "if you even read the report Jody Williams and Melissa Farley have written - you'll be fired" in 2007.

Shame.  Maybe if Andrea Swanson's husband had read the report in 2007 their own daughter might not have fallen prey to a pimp that she spoke about at the hearings for AB67 in 2013.   I say that because her husband was in law enforcement and thus one of the men threatened with being fired if they even spoke to me, let alone read our report, about how sex trafficking operates in Nevada, and what you can do to pull your kid out of it written not by law enforcement - but by someone who has been working with this community since 1984 overall and in Nevada since 1996.

What ever happened to "station Tonopah"?  First we started noticing a lot of zoning violations.  I remember the parking lot had to be repaved.  Then roofs had to be redone.  The electrical systems had to be upgraded in all the buildings.  The propane tanks had to be moved further back and 10 feet off the ground.  Then one apartment complex was divided into two counties.  Meaning that suddenly there was two zoning inspectors from two counties out for the same buildings!  One of the judges for the Goldfield county was an hour drive away!   Doesn't sound that hard until you realize how expensive it is to get any licensed contractors out to Tonopah!   Anyone licensed was either in Vegas or Carson City and thus an arm and a leg just to get an estimate done.   Then to bring in equipment like to pour the cement and tar in the parking lot?  Another arm and a leg.   But this man kept rolling with all these zoning violations.   He told us they hadn't bothered him before - but boy were they coming now!

When that didn't seem to deter him from helping us - a fire broke out and almost burned down one whole apartment complex.  He had to redo the  whole roof he'd just installed in one whole building and it cost him $10,000.  I don't think we thought it had anything to do with us - until the police came out and told him it was going to keep up until he kicked all of us out of his buildings.   He refused and came and told me about it.  Told me he wasn't going to stop helping us and that God had made him wealthy so he could help us.   I think he was fine until his wife died actually.  After his wife died, and they kept up with the threats and the zoning citations, he came and told me that one cop had been pushing on him really hard to "throw me out in the street".  He said he wouldn't but he was getting worried this cop was sounding desperate like he might trying something else if I didn't leave town and get out from this guy's radar.

Sure enough the next day was when I had five cops and a drug dog at my house with a warrant claiming I was "impersonating Jody Williams".  They tossed my house for hours, and then took all my banking cards, checks, checkbook, etc.  Told me I had to "go to court to prove it was mine".  Then after tossing my apartment one of the cops called CPS.  Said the unit was "uninhabitable" and that my child should be removed.  Thankfully the CPS agent laughed and told me "you have four hours to clean the apartment" which wasn't easy with my disabilities but I did it.

Then when they came back to a clean apartment - I could see he was angry.  Even angrier he couldn't find any drugs to arrest me over.  He asked to "speak with me inside" and that was out of the security camera view so I refused.  He could say I attacked him or anything so I told him no.  Then he got really angry and said "I'll be back".  I didn't like the sound of that one bit - so I literally packed up and we all hauled out of there that night.  I wasn't going to find out what he had in mind when he came back.

After we left, our volunteers started being stalked and threatened.  One man had his apartment robbed and the stress caused him to have a heart attack.  One man was so cared he left town and another left the country he was so scared!  He was getting calls from a NY number with threats that really scared him.   This owner also started getting threats and stalked.  Then someone lit a fire in one of his buildings.  Someone set fire to the storage units.  I remember he told me about  a lot of fires and that's when he said with his wife gone he just wanted to "go be old and quiet somewhere now".  I understood.  He sold all the buildings and did just that - retired.  We got a lot of women out of the sex industry, and away from their pimps, because of Sharnel, this man, and those volunteers.

The therapist got some kind of slap on the wrist for doing the therapy session on skype, but then the county turned around and started doing the same thing.  The social worker who helped us was fired.  The hospital owner had a bogus lawsuit and complaint filed against him so he sold the property.  Basically everyone got harassed, stalked, threatened, and attacked until they stopped helping.

I moved down to Vegas in 2009 right after Jeane Palfrey, the DC Madam, was murdered.  I rented a house from someone so everything was in his name and I couldn't be traced easily.   He was approached by some "friend" in Metro and next thing I know he's accusing me of stealing furniture in the house I was paying for along with the rent.  I had the contract and receipts showing that I had paid for the furniture I took with me when I moved out after he physically threatened my daughter.  We moved out a week after he tried to attack my daughter for some crazy reason and her dog stopped his attack (what a great dog!).

That's not all about Nevada - but that's it about "station Tonopah" and Sharnel.  Since Sharnel's gotten out of prison I've tried to reach out to her and don't get any response.  But this takes us up to about 2009 in Nevada.  More later on Nevada in another blog.
