On June 19, 2014, I submitted a link to Shelley Lubben about a woman who had been found dismembered in a lake. Instead of asking us if we knew anything about this woman personally, instead of reaching out to her family, instead of seeing if anyone else on the porn shoot might be in danger - Shelley Lubben responded by putting the link up on her website, crediting someone else for submitting it to her on June 20th entirely, and then she solicits people to "buy her CD".

Wow - profiting off the death of a porn star. Sounds just like a pimp does it? In Sex Workers Anonymous we recognized that just like how AA has their "dry drunk" or someone who acts just like a drunk without drinking - there are people who can act just like a "whore" or "pimp" without being in the sex industry. It eventually leads to relapse. Which based on her blond hair, excessive makeup and her husband having just lost his job - I would not be surprised if this one walks the same road I saw Linda Lovelace walk. The porn industry used her up too for their fund raisers - and once she started actually needing some help back for her kidney transplant they kicked her to the curb literally.

Just as I understand other groups are starting to distance themselves from her now that she's showing some signs of needing help as well. When are people like Shelley going to realize that these "armchair Christians" are only going to accept you while you're raising money for them - not at their dinner tables or into their real lives. We are the only ones who understand "us".

Shelley you need a meeting because flushing the pills down your toilet is what addicts do instead of going to a meeting. It last what three days? You said yourself that you'd "sit around talking about God and using meth" with your current husband - honey you've just switched to booze and pills. You both need help.

Please get to a meeting. They have NA meetings online if you can't get to one in Bakersfield. Then again - this might just be a ruse to get some porn company to pay her a lot of money to "come back out of retirement" like they did Linda Lovelace. I've seen it all before folks. This whole Christian thing could just be to get your address contact and then when she does her "coming out of retirement porn video" then she gets paid more money than she would if she'd just stayed in the biz where young girls do rule the internet. If she cared about these women for "real" - then she would have asked us what we know about the woman, reached out to the family, or checked to see if anyone else on the shoot is in danger LIKE WE DID.

I guess I should address why I'm even talking about this.  Remember we formed in 1987.  Shelly formed the Pink Cross about 1991 if I remember.  So when she first started up - I tried to reach out to her.  I wanted to know more about what she was doing so I could give referrals out to people who call the hotline.  So I requested information on what her group was doing.  I got basically no response at all.  Which I didn't understand.  If she was building a group to help people leave the porn industry - certainly she must know how hard this was going to be.  We'd just spent YEARS trying to find solutions that worked.  I had just been traveling the USA, doing experiments and research, and thinking about all the work we had to put into creating a program that was effective and was working here I was seeing this woman just opening up an office, turning on a phone, and thinking it was all going to work by magic.  Just as I had originally before I got a rude awakening.  So I also wanted to help is why I reached out.  Certainly she'd want to have other ex-sex workers around her?  Women who had been out a while and she could lean on rather than always having people lean on her I thought.

But I was wrong.  I got no response back when I'd call.  No one would even explain to me what it was that her program did.  Then I remembered seeing her at the AVN awards on a TV show.  She was there literally right before this woman was going to find out if she'd won.  Her "pink cross" women were actually looking like a cult to me.  They had their pink t-shirts on, they all looked alike, they sounded alike, I mean it was creepy.  They were asking this woman to leave her hotel room and "come with them" but they weren't explaining what that meant.  It looked like they were pressuring her.  I could tell that the porn actress wanted to see if she won.  Of course she wanted to see if she'd won.  I mean you're not going to get her to leave five minutes before they announce if she's won or not.  No one I can think of is going to walk away before they find out if they've won an award.  I mean heck it's why they invented the awards in the first place!

Because I remember the porn industry BEFORE the awards.  Men and women in porn were looked at like freaks.  They would have people spit on them as they walked down the street and they would be called "freaks".  Porn stars were looked at like total deviants and perverts.  I mean "how could you even think of letting a camera film you nude and then splash it all over a screen?" was the general culture view back then.  You couldn't rent an apartment, buy a car, or even get a part-time job if they recognized your face.  You were considered the absolute scum of society.  The money wasn't enough to put up with that kind of nonsense.  The producers were the ones making the money - not the stars.  So what was the pay-off here?

The early producers of porn were not like today.  To make a porn back then required a lot of money.  You had to go around obscenity laws so usually attorney's were involved.  You have to make porn appear to be an "art" film so you wouldn't be branded "obscenity" and then people would get arrested and your film burned.  So you had to have some semblance of a plot which meant writers.  You had cameras that not everyone could operate and they were expensive too.  So you had grown adult business men who used to be in control of porn.  THEY were the ones making the money.  They also had a problem - how are they going to get beautiful people to agree to be filmed if the money was shit?

Now you could get interns to work for free in jobs where there was a future.  But there's no future in porn.  The older you get, the fatter you get, the less you're going to be in demand for your films.  So no intern system would work.  Yes you had the early victims of pimps being forced like Linda Lovelace and Marilyn Chambers.  But there just weren't enough of those maniac pimps around to make enough actresses to keep the system going.  Remember, you can't make one film that's played over and over again.  Now - the very industry demands "fresh meat" has to be supplied to it.  So how do you keep getting young girls to agree to make films?

Now Playboy had it's mansion.  Their system worked because many of those women met and married rich husbands.  Look at Gene Simmons and his marriage to Shannon Tweed  They met at the mansion and had two kids and she got herself a rock star husband.  That was a walking advertisement for the Playboy empire.  Other women looked at her, or Barbi Benton and everyone beautiful flocked to Playboy.

So how are you going to get them into YOUR little film?  The AVN awards were created.  You'd be surprised at what people will do for a trophy.  I remember the first awards in a dingy little hall and the girls in tube tops.  But this is Los Angeles and there's 1,000's of fashion designers looking to crack into the business.   So they decided to dress the women up like for the Academy Awards.  Then they realized they could charge the fans to come and meet their "favorite stars" and it became a big money making event.  Sponsors wanted in for adult products.  This event became marketing central where careers were made.  Now you can't ask some woman who has been waiting all year to hear if she's going to win that award to just walk away.  They won't do it and the organizers know this.  It's another way to have "employee retention".

So the last thing you want to do is come up to someone an hour before they announce the winner and ask her "come and leave with us" like some creepy cult.  It won't work.  So as I'm watching this on the TV I'm thinking - they need some help.  I called over there to talk about how we've done effective interventions to see if I could help.  Like suggesting for one thing that asking some women to leave right before she's supposed to get an award with a bunch of girls all wearing the same shirts like some cult might not be effective.  It wasn't either by the way - the woman threw them out of her room, lost the award, and then went back to her room to sulk.  Frankly that's when I would have gone to talk to her.  But again with the wall when I called offering to help.  No one wanted to talk to me.  So what I figured and went on about my business.  Funny - looking back I'm really glad I didn't partner with her and can see everything was for a reason.  But back then I had the mistaken idea we were all on the same team and wanted to help.

I thought we were on the same team until I started hearing about events going on around town where they were having speakers come and talk about the industry, and leaving the industry, as well as sex trafficking.  I started calling the organizers and offering to come speak.  Now previously when I'd call organizer and offer to come speak they'd be very very happy and welcoming . Suddenly I'm getting this very cold reception and I don't know why.  I figured I'd go to these events and see what was going on - only when I'd arrive I'd have security tell me I wasn't ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING.

Like what?  You're kidding me right - not allowed in the building like I'm some kind of terrorist?  Of course even more curious now why I'm being blocked from even hearing what's going on - I ask around for some tapes of these events.  I get them and then I hear why I'm being blocked from the building.  I never heard such horse shit in my life.  What was even funnier was that each time Shelley is telling her story - it changes.  I mean doesn't she realize that people will remember her story and know when it changes?  So now I'm hearing she went from a porn star who used to literally walk into business establishments and then tell the owner she wasn't leaving until she turned a trick and got some money from him so she could supply her drug habit - to now she's a "trafficking victim"?  Then her drug dealer who became her husband - but now she's a 'trafficking victim"?  Okay who exactly trafficked her?  I'm not hearing about anyone but her and her now husband in the story.  I'm lost.  This is making absolutely no sense to me whatsoever and frankly she's becoming what I'm struggling against.

One of the biggest problems I had when I first started doing the alternative sentencing work where we'd take programs into the jails, and I was working with the probation department, and social services - was over coming their stereotypical views of us "never changing".  I used to hold these lectures where I'd be sitting in the audience as people walked into the meeting room.  Then I'd be meeting and talking with them over coffee until the event was ready to start.  Then I'd stand up and introduce myself and watch their mouths fly open.  I'd say "didn't realize it was me huh?"  I'd have them confront what it was they thought an ex-hooker would be vs. what I was now in recovery. People would admit that they didn't trust us and didn't want to work with us because in their experience we "never changed".  We'd show up to lectures stoned.  We'd rip people off.  We'd lie.  In other words, the dry drunk for the alcoholic is that we'd act like whores but say we were out.

So I'm working against this stereotype by showing up dressed like a lady to events, being clean, acting responsible - and here I'm seeing her looking like a porn star, made up like a porn star, talking like a porn star, and falling around the stages like she's drunk and changing her story like a child caught in a lie.  Not a good image for us.  So I tried talking to her about this because I'm now seeing a lot of my work going down the drain.  Now I'm not only getting people blocking me from these events because she's said she doesn't want me there which means she's acting like we're two hookers fighting over a corner or something - and to top it off when she acts like this other people think I'm going to act like that.

Sure enough today one of my biggest problems is having to convince people I'm not like her or Annie Lobert.  When I call say a PR company and start to try to talk to them - I can hear this wall of ice and hostility.  So I just bring it out in the open - you're thinking I'm like Shelley or Annie right?  They sigh and say "yeah".  So I explain how we're different and then after I hear this visible sigh of relief - then we can move forward with our business.  But those are the people who are reasonable and I can get to talk to me.  I have 50 other people who won't even talk to me at all because in their minds I'm going to be like those two.  I mean I can't even open my mouth now and say I run a program out of Vegas without getting this weird look.  I then say "no I'm not Annie or Shelley" and then I hear the sigh of relief and a giggle.  Then they tell me how crazy they think these two broads are.  Yes they get on TV because they make for great TV.  They don't even realize the TV is putting them on there not because they're good at what they do but because they're good TV.  People point at the TV and laugh and that sells commercials.  But the reality is that it now has made my job 100 times harder because I can't open my mouth now to someone in the porn industry without first getting them to understand I'm not Shelley nor like Shelley.  It's so bad some people even tell me they checked out my page before calling and upon seeing that Shelley IS NOT on my friend's list - then they felt comfortable enough to call.

This isn't the only way my life has become harder because of Shelley.  There's her "minions" as I call them.  I don't know if she even knows about these people.  But they create face book profiles.  Then they ask to be added as a friend.  Next thing I know they're attacking me with bible quotes and telling me they belong to Pink Cross.  They just start lashing out at me and I have no idea what they're talking about.  All I can do is block them.  I've had to tell all of our members not to friend me because of them because they started attacking our members.  Anyone who would show up as a our "friend" they'd go to them and start attacking.  At first I thought they'd die down after a few months - but it's like years now and I still get these attacks.  Considering I haven't even spoken to Shelley in years I don't know why they're attacking me.  It got so bad last year that I had to report it to Shelley and the police.  I took the threats to the Bakersfield Police, and sent a copy of the letter to Shelley.  They did stop - for about a year.

Where it's really sad however is her leftovers.  Every now and then I get a call from someone who is "making an amends" to me.  They'll call me up and tell me they "want to apologize for what they did" to me.  They admit to horrible slandering and attacks.  I mean the stuff they tell me they did to me is truly awful.  They admit calling up other churches and telling them I was running child pornography rings.  I mean just sick crazy stuff.  They all insist that Shelley "made them do it" and now they've "seen the light" and "feel awful" and they "want to make amends" to me.

I say "fine - make amends".  They go "what?"  I say "yeah - I want you to go to every person you lied to about me and I want you to tell them you lied and tell them the truth.  You want to make amends to me?  Go and fix the damage you did.  Because I can wipe my ass with your apology and it changes nothing.  The damage is done and I'm not going to undo it by going to these people and saying you lied and now you're sorry.  It won't fix it.  So YOU go to those people and YOU fix it."   Because an "amends" isn't "I'm sorry".  An "amends" is about repairing the damage - not apologizing and then walking away to leave someone else to clean up your mess.  It's about taking responsibility for your actions.  You break it - you buy it.

I never heard from them again.

Dear Congressman Chafftz:

I'm writing you about these articles about the DEA and strip clubs.
and then -

I'd also like to introduce myself if I might.  My name is Jody Williams and I'm the founder of not only Sex Workers Anonymous, but the very modern day movement to have sex trafficking recognized so that victims may receive PROPER assistance.

I say "proper" in this manner - trafficking in the USA today is not the same as it is in China, Thailand, India, etc.  Nor is "trafficking" the same as prostitution as many people in the major media are trying to cram down our throats today.  I don't know where you are on the page here on this subject - so please forgive me if I start at the beginning to make sure we are on the same page.

I've attached an article I wrote recently about the movement I founded to have trafficking victims, and their needs recognized.  I've also attached my resume to give you an idea how long I've been in this movement.

Because in modern day America sex trafficking involves men like these DEA agents for one thing.  They own strip clubs and then suddenly voila!  These women are entertaining at a Columbia drug cartel party.

Now I ask you this - what happens when they decide they want to leave?  Don't you think men like this might be a tad "worried" what these women might talk about knowing or to who?

This is why once we did obtain federal recognition that trafficking was in fact real after punching it out with the media, the public, and the government for 20 years - that there was an immediate major media backlash to try and create more "disinformation" about what modern day domestic sex trafficking is as well as what these victims need in order to truly leave and escape trafficking.

Women like those in that club can't go to some homeless shelter for help to escape.  Even if they did, some DEA agent, or his buddies, flash a badge and they're found in one minute.  Then guess what?  Another guy with a badge shows up and says "I need to speak to her" and then she's gone.

This is why I knew I couldn't go to places like this when I was running from men who I'd witnessed involved in trafficking in "my day" that were police, CIA, FBI, etc.  I knew I wouldn't be safe.  As it was in my case, I'd already had two dead people in connection with people trying to silence me for fear of what I'd say back then.  Barely escaping with my life - that's why I formed a group to reach out and help others to escape, Sex Workers Anonymous.

Because all over the country - I was hearing about women who had been desperate enough to run to the nearest homeless or domestic violence shelter, or even drug program - where this guy with a badge had shown up asking for them never to be heard from again.  The staff at these shelters would tell me they'd ask "what happened to her?" only to be told "classified" when in reality she's just been cut up and thrown out in the desert or off the pier - or better yet sold for snuff films or her organs sold so at least the traffickers could pick up a few extra bucks.

Only let me explain something to you very few people want to hear about things like organ harvesting from those dead hookers - this isn't done in some hotel room with butter knifes like the movies make you think is what happens.  Organ harvesting is done with sophisticated machines and technology that requires a trained doctor to know how to do, and specialized equipment to perform these procedures, and a lot of paperwork to get the organs transplanted.  Snuff films are also not cheap to produce nor to get viewed.  So those movies aren't aired in back alleys - but in very "high class" board and bedrooms of very wealthy people.   In other words - it's not what you'd led to believe in movies it is or who is doing these things.

There are only pretty much two programs I'm aware of in this country that can safely help this type of victim disappear when a trafficker with a badge is going to be looking for them (or a trafficker who can hire a man with a badge).  Which is why since 2007 when we got that federal recognition and I gave a press conference about this you can read about on - I challenge you to find any major media  about either Sex Workers Anonymous, or Children of the Night, written since 2007.

If you do find some - I'd venture it's been "faked". Like this wonderful piece of "disinformation" -  This article claims to have me living in Los Angeles in 1996 supposedly bringing male prostitutes chicken soup to their homes and asking them to write out "john" lists for "amends".  What a crock!

I can show you other reporters who have been fired just for trying to write about us, while I have a long list of many others who will tell you they were threatened with their jobs if they tried to write even a word about us.  The few who did write about us were not only fired - but some even threatened physically.  Bob Herbert of the NY Times was threatened by ex-mob mayor Oscar Goodman with a "baseball bat to the head if he ever sets foot back in Las Vegas" after writing about me and the subject of SWA.

To show you how far this goes - I'd like to point you to Relativity Media.  Not only did they film the show we helped to get pulled off the air "8 Minutes", but they also currently film a series inside the Orange County, CA jail, along with the series "Intervention" and "Catfish".  They also filmed the series "Gigolos" and were connected to the brief episode that aired on Bravo with Annie Lobert from Hookers for Jesus.

"Catfish" is a show where it's exposed that people are not who they pretend to be online - and that people are sometimes even engaged to profiles who don't even exist.  "Gigolo's" was a fantasy show dubbed "reality" about a bunch straight male escorts in Las Vegas.  The jail show has cameras going in and out of jail  in Orange County, CA - even into cells marked as "isolation".  The show "Intervention" is showing people trying to confront addicts to convince them to enter into treatment.

All of these may seem "disconnected" until you realize Tom Forman produced all of them and that A&E, Bravo, Showtime, and NBC are all connected to Disney, ABC and Hearst Media.  The series "Intervention" also explains how a fake article about me popped up supposedly being this woman running meetings in Los Angeles in 1996 in an addiction related magazine.  The fact he also produces "catfish" could explain how the knowledge to fake someone entirely is there
Oh don't get me wrong - there was a woman sayings she was "Jody Williams" and holding "Sex Workers Anonymous" meetings in Los Angeles at that time.  She even had a website up, and she was applying for grants.  Grants for $300,000 to open up a "drop in" center in Pasadena, California that when I had a friend of mine at Impact House in Pasadena go by and check it out - only to find a vacant building.  I reported the use of my name for this $300,000 grant to the police - only to read everyone else on her board had been arrested but the woman pretending to be me who turned out to be "Anne Bissell" or "Juliette Chandler" (I don't know what her real name is actually - but those are two she goes by online.)  Since everyone was arrested but her - kind of tells me she must have "turned" on the others on her board to get immunity.

This wasn't the last time I had dealings with Pasadena, California either.  Right now I'm trying to help some victims leave this trafficking ring that spans this country, into others like Russia and China, etc.  The heads of one of these "under" rings as I call them reside in Pasadena, California.  I call them "under" rings - because the Triad, Yakuza, Mexican Cartel, Bloods, Crips, and other "minority" gangs now have the Aryan gangs connected with the bikers "overseeing" them is the way the structure has been explained to me exists now that the old Italian mobs are no longer in control like they used to be.  Not since Juliani came after the mob to break it up.

When I met with this victim in Pasadena who begged me to help her - she told me of how she had fake arrests posted on her criminal record.  Then she explained she couldn't leave because they would just post more fake charges on her record, and get her deported to China where they would then get her executed by the state.  They had evidently drugged her and then posed her in porn along with her almost identical looking sister.  Back in China, "incest porn" is met with a death penalty - and she's been threatened with these pictures if they deport her if she tries to leave this operation.

We hired her an attorney to help who ordered her booking tape of these arrests.   He was then threatened by another attorney and resigned from the case.  When I went back to speak to her - I then got threatened by the same attorney.  When that didn't stop me I got threatened by a Pasadena police officer.  His chief ignored me so I went to the city and district attorney who ignored me.  I went to the CA US Attorney who ignored me.  When I pushed on her - she announced she'd running for Senate, i.e., bailed.

When I went back to city council - they were missing $6,000,000 and a little busy.  I went to Internal Affairs - who said the files were being burned over the city council's objection and even the mayor.   When a judge pushed for an audit of the station which cost $190,000 - it was done by the Veritas Assurance Group.  Only the only information I can find on them is they sell legal insurance plans on a LinkedIn page.  No insurance number on that site either I'd like to add.  No staff listing, no idea how long they've been in business, etc.  The report was done by Ron Sanchez (the chief is Phillip Sanchez), but Michael Beck, the city manager, tells me they're "not related".

Since this report claims that things like detectives bragging they can "fake a homicide" if they wanted to an be fixed by getting more "funding and training" you can see why I'd like to speak to the people working on this audit of the Pasadena Police - especially with all that's going on right now.

Now if you think these strippers out of that club in NJ might have a hard time being believed if they'd tried to get help before this arrest - you can imagine how hard of a time our woman, I'm going to call her "Music" is having with her traffickers.  Being that they've faked her a complete criminal history, drugged her and staged her in "fake" incest porn, threatened her and her son,  threatened us, monitor every phone call and every interaction with modern technology, threaten people trying to help her like us using cops, attorney's, and private investigators taking tips right out of a "CoinintelPro" handbook trying to get me to "back off" while trying to discredit me so no one will listen to her situation - then you can see how we felt it was also necessary to film what she'd dealing with so we could get not just her help, but the many many women who are a part of this ring that are being trafficked all over this country right now - and worse.

But when I organized a film crew to come out and help me do a "real" documentary about what "really" is happening in the USA today with respect to sex trafficking - our crew was all chased off the project.

Why?  Can't let what we're filming upset what was being filmed to come out on "8 Minutes" that bore no connection at all to the reality of the sex industry today that's billed as "reality" TV.

Why? To make real victims sound crazy when they step forward no different than they do when people see lights in the sky and the media tries to say it's "weather balloons" or "flares".  But it goes farther than just simple "disinformation" when I'm having whole stories about our group and myself impersonated and faked by large corporations which all seem to keep coming up under the mantle of Hearst Media.

I mean honestly - if the women at that strip club in NJ were to come forward before this arrest hit the news and say that they "worked in a club owned by DEA agents" and  had been "forced onto a plane to Columbia" where they were further forced to "dance and entertain Columbian drug dealers and the Columbian police were told to hold their guns while the DEA cavorted around with prostitutes" - tell me how much they'd be believed?

Let's examine the word "forced" for a minute too.  Let's say you're a stripper working at that strip club.  Let's say you walked in there on your own and you made a decision to work there.  I'm sure they don't post on the door as you walk in a sign saying "owned by DEA agents".  So you find out after you're hired - that they do in fact own that club.  These guys now have a copy of your ID, and they know where you live.  They know where your kids go to school.   They know where your mother lives.  Then these come to you and "ask" you if you'd like to "go to Columbia to dance for some cartel dealers".  Anyone would probably think "hell no I don't want to go" - but would you say "no?"  Would you really be standing there in front of two DEA agents and say to them "no I don't want to go" knowing that they know where you live, your real name, where your kids go to school, etc.  Then think about telling them you want to quit?  So in these guys' minds - "oh no I didn't force anyone - I didn't put a gun to anyone's head" but that's not how it works is it?

I remember watching an interview with Henry Hill about how they fixed that infamous college basketball game.  He laughed saying "I didn't threaten anyone - I just asked the guy 'I don't how one would play basketball with a broken arm'" as he winked to the camera.   So are you going to tell me that wasn't a threat either against that player?  The problem with sex trafficking is that it's rarely done with a gun standing over someone.

Then ask yourself - where would these women go for help where these agents, scared of what these women might say, couldn't follow them?   Now take one step further - imagine that it's 1984 when people didn't even believe this kind of thing existed AT ALL  - and now you have an idea what I've been dealing with in the 1970's, 1980's - and why I formed our group to help these types of victims.

The problem with laying down with dogs is that you get fleas.  One who tends to protect the secrets of the sex industry, and the traffickers connected to it - also tend to be "patrons" or "johns" or "hobbyists" or "clients" or whatever word you want to use.  Then if you do something that dog doesn't like - well you just get bit and replaced with someone who will.

Which is what happened to Steve Sassa - a man who used to be in control of Hearst Media. Or even what happened with the case of the "Chinese prostitutes" and Glaxo Pharmaceuticals -  But these are only what has broken in the news!  Imagine the other stories we don't know about!

I saw an interview with Ronald Kessler recently however that explained why all of us, not just those who are sex workers or their customers, need to be concerned about any of this.  Because the problem here is that it's not about "sex" - it's about security.  To think that this is about "sex" is like thinking that "rape" is about "sex" because both appear to be "sex" on the surface - but in reality things are much more complex.

Ronald explained that secret service agents were letting in prostitutes into the White House completely "off the books" where they could be carrying a bomb, anthrax, who knows.  They could leave "mikes" behind or worse.  They're let into back rooms without even being checked with metal detectors for that matter first - let alone any background checks done on them to see what their political ties, or even criminal history is first before giving them this kind of delicate access to the very inner workings and people of our government.   Who knows if they're "customers" are forced into giving campaign contributions even to cloud where they're coming from.

It's not the "independent" prostitutes I'm worried about - but those who are being controlled or trafficked.  The problem is that these "clients" don't know how to tell the difference.  I mean look at Steve Sassa - he said he "didn't think she had a pimp because she was found on a high class escort site".  So what?  What about the Google executive murdered by a woman he found on "Sugar Babies". Women on there argue they aren't even "prostitutes" because they're paid by the month instead of the hour.  Come on - denial isn't just a river in Egypt here folks.

Many are arguing that "legalization" is the answer.  However, I've seen "legalization" up close in my work with Nevada's legal brothels and I assure you this makes it even WORSE.  This requires a licensing process that will prevent people like these victims from EVER getting any job outside of that industry ever.  Imagine someone allowing a woman to become an attorney, a doctor, get a seat on Wall Street, or even work around small children for that matter if her background check turns up "prostitute".  Even now if one catches HIV while "on the job" there is no workers compensation, disability, or vocational rehabilitation for that "worker".  Plus if anyone remembers what Joe Conforte was like - trust me a lot depends upon who is the owner of that brothel.  Or did anyone forget the scene in the "Godfather" where a hooker was murdered to set up a politician was referring to Joe Conforte?

Which is why men  today who see prostitutes are subject to blackmail.  Look at Steve Sassa.  We also don't really know what secrets were leaked, nor what stock market manipulations were going on behind Glaxo Pharmaceuticals (or Google for that matter) either during this time

We have no idea what Steve for example was being asked to do in reality that when he balked at it - they got him fired. How do I know if it wasn't to approve the funding of this "8 Minutes" which was "catfishing" America about sex trafficking is?

People are voting on Bills right now and also there's open lawsuits going on right now about Backpage - don't tell me this show didn't have an impact on what people think.  Shows like this are why people are sequestered during murder trials so as "not to taint" the jury!

If anything, his firing was a message to others that you don't want to risk going against these people and what they want or they'll do to you what they did to him, or did to Eliot Spitzer when they leaked a tape of him to the media, or even to Donald Banks recently who I believe is the victim of a "reverse blackmail" sting.

I think part of the reason Sony got hacked was to send a message.   The hacking was done at a time when we'd put together our own resources to film our own documentary about what "really" is going on out there with the sex trafficking in this country.  I was talking to many reporters and producers at NBC about not filming this bogus stuff - but in fact helping us air the "real" stuff.  I even found an editor who had worked at Sony for 12 years, and knew many of the executives there, to help us get this documentary made and aired - before the hacking.

When suddenly they couldn't even get theaters to air a Seth Rogan and James Franco comedy - what do you think they thought of their chances of airing something about Chinese espionage and biker gangs and Aryan police officers and the Bush family's connection with trafficking went over?

They got their spanking and everyone at NBC shut the door on us after that also. I will tell you another reason why these traffickers don't want us having any access to major media as well as why they want to be totally in control which they were showing they are with this Sony hacking - and that's about blackmail.

They want to show they're the ones who get to say who is blackmailed and who isn't.  As an example - if anyone were to have said that Donald Banks was seeing male prostitutes, and even maybe seeing underage male prostitutes - he could have slapped them with an injunction and a defamation lawsuit.  However, by telling him that the police would arrest this person, and by promising to "keep his name out of the lawsuit" - he believed them.

Then his name was "leaked" to the press and there's nothing he can do about what's now "public record".  The blackmail threat was sent via text message which could have been sent from any google phone which can be "spoofed" to appear to come from any phone the sender wants to make it appear came from - which again is what they did with Steve and many other victims I've been speaking to in connection with this ring.

Because I'll tell you what effect this case had upon the mind of the average "john" after not just the Sony hacking - but also Donald's case being leaked to the media and  that's for the future victims of this type of blackmail  to pay the money and keep your mouth shut.  I ought to know because I am not only two classes away from my BA degree in psychology, but I've been studying brainwashing, and the human mind with respect to the sex industry since I was a teenager and I'm 54 year old now.

This message was a loud and clear to pay the money and keep your mouth shut when extorted that was sent when the police told Donald "don't worry we know what we're doing" and the blackmailers I'm sure warned him not to go to the police!

Traffickers now are like wolves in sheep's clothing.  This is why the windows district in Amsterdam said it was shutting it down in 2007 - not because of the prostitution but because of the "trafficking" in connection to it.

These criminals are only appearing to be using prostitutes to lure wealthy and powerful men into the web that's become so dangerous that the UK government has already started warning their people, and many wealthy and powerful business owners about some of these scams - unlike what we're doing in this country because the media is wanting to throw out outdated images of the sex industry instead of current ones so as to keep feeding new victims into the system.  We also have a very hard time talking about sex in general in this country - look at the recent story of Josh Duggar as one good example of that!

Men who think they're just getting a "good time" based on images in the media about what the sex industry "used" to be - are instead winding up in a tar patch they don't know how to get out of nor know where to go for help.  This is why honestly I'm getting more calls from the "customers" each year also. Men who thought they were "just going to a strip club" or "just going for a quick blow job" - only to find their lives suddenly turned upside down.

Take Rick Rizzolo was just one example I can speak about because it's in the news.  He would drug his customers at the Crazy Horse strip club with enough GHB to knock out 10 men, max out their credit cards, and then put them into cabs home.

The cab drivers were all also owned by another strip club owner so the drivers would know the drill.  Not only not take them to a hospital because of how they were acting while drugged - but also to be sure NOT to bring them to me.  Those who would bring a victim to me - was fired.  How did they know?  GPS and cameras in the cabs.  Then they would tell the drivers they could see everywhere the cab was going and everything going on inside the cab. So for years we used to get cab drivers who would help a woman in trouble by taking her right to our door - only to have a local strip club owner buy the cab company, tell the drivers there was a "new sheriff in town" and if they "wanted their jobs they wouldn't even so much as speak Jody's name to a prostitute in their cab".

When the customer would complain to the club the next day - they were ignored.  When they went to Chief Gillespie - he ignored them before he stepped down on corruption charges.

When they went to the DA - they were met with David Shubert, who died last year from drugs.  That was pointless as he would do whatever his drug source would tell him to do.  If they asked for tapes from the cabs - they were told the tapes had been "destroyed".

Internal Affairs?  There was none until after I complained for so many years about a lack of one - they put a typist, Karen Hughes, in charge of vice, the sex trafficking task force, and also on the board for Internal Affairs.  Trust me - anyone who even asks about us to help them is told that "Jody is just crazy" so they don't think to come talk to me about what's going on. Those who do anyway are then told by Karen that I'm "just crazy" and to discount me.  Not realizing that I'm not just "me" - but a group comprised of 1,000's of members over 30 years all over the world.  I'm just the one who interfaces with the public so the rest can maintain their "anonymity" and not be attacked.

Is this really just about some money and prostitution?  Not when it escalates to murder or involves murder.  Buffalo Jim used to operate a wrestling school across the street from the Crazy Horse club that Rizzolo ran.  When things would get crazy and these strippers would just want out of there - they'd literally run across to his school where they'd physically be safe because of being guarded by the wrestlers.  I'd get a call and we'd get the women out of state actually to safety because Rick had a lot of powerful "friends".  He supposedly bought information from an Orange County police officer while incarcerated.  The day after Rick was released from prison - a death threat was left on Jim's car.  The next day Jim was found dead in a hotel room.

The videotape showed a hooker with him checking into that room.  However, I know he may very well have been asked to get that woman that room and to come sit with her while I was called.  After his death - there were protests in the streets about the case - but no toxicology report would be released.  His daughter suspecting a "rat" also snuck into the coroners' office and found the report which said Jim had enough GHB in his system to kill 10 men.  The news just broadcast that "drugs" were found in his system.  No case was ever opened to investigate his death.

The officials also had to spread the rumors I was "crazy" to cover up fresh information I was getting in the Jessie Foster case.  They had to do something because I kept getting new members coming into our program telling me new things about her death, and her pimp they suspected murdered her along with other escorts and even a madam who went missing in connection with him also.  When I had fresh information from incoming members about her murder, and others in the ring, I would go to the police to investigate what I was being told.  Only they're ignore me.

So I'd go to the task force when it was someone other than Karen - and was ignored.  Then I'd go to the FBI where then I'd get threatened with a 5150 and having my kid taken away.  So I went to Jessie's mother.  So they had to convince her I was just "crazy" to make sure she wouldn't listen to the fact I had fresh information in the case that no one was following up on.

Why?  Because if Peter Todd, her pimp, gets arrested - then he lets out all kinds of secrets no one wants released about what else is going on out here in the sex industry.

So Mr. Chaffetz - I understand you were responsible for bringing this story to light about the DEA agents because you didn't view this as just some "harmless sex party".  Not when Columbian police are handed guns from our agents to hold - no it's not "harmless".   Especially when this is only the "version" we were given.  Thank you.  It helps me get my message across easier when we talk about "trafficking" today is not just some African American male sitting in a Cadillac wearing a fedora and sporting a cane.  That's an archaic stereotype that is different than what I define as a "trafficker".

There is also a difference between "prostitution" and also "sex trafficking".  Just as a farmer is different than a victim of human trafficking forced to work on a farm - or any trafficking victim in any industry.   I've also always said the only way we're ever going to be able to get these people arrested is to "decriminalize" the industry so that victims are not treated as "criminals" by our legal system where witnesses are then considered "accomplices".

I appreciate any work you did to get this story out because it helps me explain what we're really dealing with today in Sex Workers Anonymous.  Now - if I can just get the media to help us tell these men, women and transgenders, about our program, and groups like Children of the Night, for those under 18 years of age, who can protect and help rehabilitate them, then that be even more of an accomplishment.

But I can't seem to get our name into any major media since 2007 - nor even invited to any congressional hearings because everyone seems very bent on the idea of portraying "victims of trafficking" by showing images of street prostitution.

What a great way for the traffickers to be hiding plain sight" isn't it?  I mean why else spend all that money to create a completely "staged" show like the did with "8 Minutes" using images of street prostitutes they called "victims of trafficking" and even using the National Trafficking Hotline number after Polaris had even asked them not to use their number in connection to the show - while chasing off our film crew from doing a shoot of what "real" trafficking in Los Angeles looks like where the victims aren't threatened by men like Bishop Don Juan - but instead attorney's, police officers, politicians, and even DEA agents.

Then of course up comes the smoke screen about how we need to put more money into homeless shelters or other programs that have no such consideration for the fact the criminals these victims are running from today in the USA are bikers and men with badges for which the "typical" shelters, program, treatment centers, etc. are not equipped to deal with situations where even "witness protection" isn't safe.   That's what needs to be recognized if we're going to help true victims of "trafficking", again not sex workers, but victims of trafficking, in this country.

Mr. Chaffetz - we've had it finally come out in the news that there's been "fake" survivors like Somaly Mam,  and Ben Hillier (who the film "Taken" was based upon) - but a lot of people aren't asking "why?" nor why only since 2007 have these fakes hit our media and lecture circuits and awards tables.

The show "8 Minutes" also shows that we now have "fake" groups and outreaches even - something I've been also yelling about since 2007 only to have people just respond with "oh she's crazy" so they don't have to look at the facts.  People aren't asking "why did Kevin Brown and Greg Reese lie?" in connection with this show.  Nor are they asking "where did the money go?" that was being donated by people who also thought it was "real".

When I ask these questions - people just say "oh Jody you're crazy" rather than answer the questions.  I'm used to that as I got some of my early support when I left the industry from a holocaust support group.  They warned me about "Moishe" - the man who tried to warn people not to get on the trains.  I was also warned about Kurt Gerstein - the man who also tried to warn people that Jews, and others, were being mass exterminated using his crystals to gas them to death in a process that sometimes too people two days to die.  They also would say he was "crazy" so they could discount him rather than listen and respond.

Kevin Brown and this so called "outreach" are not unique.  Because I've also been calling around many of these groups across the country that I have been seeing shown on TV, in documentaries, in the news, etc. - only to find out they're entirely "fake" as well as the "fake" survivors" and the fake outreach as well as even "fake" prostitutes now.  Just like people told Moishe he was crazy when he would tell people "there are no jobs if you get on those trains" - so too have I been hearing I'm "crazy" when I tell people I'm calling one "fake" program after another that I've seen on TV.  The same for "fake" survivors".  Because "8 Minutes" also hired women to "act" as victims on that show.

Again why? One reason is because they don't want the truth about the industry, or what "real" victims, are dealing with today.  Now I'm not saying they don't use "real" sex workers from time to time.  But to me - to put on Gordon Ramsey, a well paid very famous chef, and ask him to speak about what a person who is being "trafficked" into the restaurant industry experiences - guess what?  He's going to deny that even exists because someone like him doesn't see something like that.  So all in all - it's very clever use of propaganda to try and help people form opinions by asking the Gordon Ramsey equivalent of the sex industry about sex trafficking - because of course they're going to deny any knowledge of such things.  Doesn't mean it doesn't exist - just means he doesn't see it is all.

Which they're getting advice from the best now - believe me in just how to do such type of deception.  Robert Jay Lifton has come forward now taking about the kind of "advice" that our CIA has been receiving from experts in the mind for purposes on how to control people's minds.   Here Mr. Lifton speaks about how our CIA receiving this training for "torture" purposes - but believe me there was more to this than just that.  The series "Lie to Me" was also based on a man who has consulted with our government on how the mind works.

If you watch the show Derren Brown did on how he can convince someone to even admit to a murder they never actually committed, as well how he convinced someone to pick up a gun and shoot someone - and then re-watch the "8 Minutes" show trying to convince us that a "prostitute" is a "trafficking victim"  - you might have a whole new perspective on this show that tries to convince the viewer that in watching these women who are "prostitutes" walk into that hotel room while repeating the word "victim victim victim" at least 10 times I counted in the opening five minutes of the show - you might have a different perspective on what I mean by "they're brainwashing us in the media" after watching Derren's program.

Because what's happening right now Mr. Chaffetz is very powerful people are trying to convince America that trafficking and prostitution are the same for many reasons.  They're not.  Nor is the sex industry as "harmless" either - especially now that we have other countries like China using it as a means of robbing this country blind, and also for espionage.

Because "trafficking" against isn't street prostitution.  Nor does espionage take place with street prostitutes either.  I invite you to check out this article.  I'd like you to know these men were also dealing with students and professors in colleges like USC.  I'd also like to add that Brandy Britton was a university professor before she was found hung in her home after a prostitution arrest.

Brandy Britton was the prostitute that David Vitter was seeing while she as working under Jeane Palfrey, the woman dubbed the DC Madam by the media when she was arrested.
Jeane could have just taken a plea bargain when she was arrested - but she didn't.  Probably for why she was arrested.  Every "single white female" madam that's hit the news when arrested - including myself - has been approached by men within our own government to literally "sell" women.  I don't mean by the hour as a prostitute - but I mean "sell" outright never to be heard from again.  When we've each refused - we've been arrested - then the major media hits to glamourize our lives -and then a "successor" is flushed out to take our place.  In my day they did this to flush out Heidi Fleiss.  After Heidi, Kristin Davis, was flushed out.

Only now with the internet - the days of the "old school madam" are gone.  We've been replaced with sites like "Backpage" for those "independent" of the trafficking rings.  So now you have an idea why when the show "8 Minutes" was staged -  they made it appear that the calls were coming from "Backpage".  The media has been going after sites such as Backpage, Myredbook, etc. all under the "smoke screen" that they're doing this to "fight trafficking".

Only trafficking isn't on those sites.  Not in the sense I'm talking about.  Is there prostitution?  Of course.  Is there pimping?  Absolutely.  But are those sites being used for the organized crime network that trafficks men, women, children, and transgenders in the manner in which I'm speaking?  Not go near it because those are the sites they're attacking to get control of the ones that don't belong to their organization.

Let me show you how they used to try and gain control of the "independents" using a badge by talking about Chris Butler.  Chris was a retired cop who became a private investigator (identical by the way to Kevin Brown and Greg Reese featured with the "8 Minutes" situation).

Chris then opened up his own prostitution ring - where he would then bang on other prostitutes' doors demanding they either "give him his cut or else".  Since all he had to do was make one phone call and an officer would be there with a packet of drugs to arrest them - his job was pretty easy up until he finally got brought down.  Only people get smarter and hidden cameras get smaller - so one can't do things like he did now can they if the ring itself is to continue to vye for control.

So the "independents" or the part-timers, or the dabblers, or mom's who turn a trick or two to feed the kids - advertise on sites like Backpage or myredbook.

That's where the "independents" are advertising.   So what we're witnessing right now Mr. Chaffetz is a turf war - where the traffickers are trying to take over the "rogues" and "independents" ug our very own government, legal system and even major media.   Not unlike when Rudolph Guiliani used our government to take down the old Italian mob - so now we have the gangs who  have risen up to take over power.

Only now they have retired cops showing up banging on their doors handing over the National Trafficking Hotline number.  Know why?  They tell them "that's what you're going to get if you try and call for help".  They deny the groups that really can help them - and if anyone has a camera running - they get to say "I was doing outreach" to cover their ass.  That's what's going on in the "anti-trafficking" field and why even sex workers are criticizing the "rescue industry" that's clearly not rescuing anyone BECAUSE THAT'S NOT WHAT THEIR GOAL IS.

Not when the Aryan Lynwood Viking gang has a pretty good grip on our police force right now.  To see how good of a grip - you might want to read up on the Paul Tanaka case. He was able to "lose" the witness against him in the jail for three whole days.

When the FBI agent demanded he be returned - two more cops went to her home to threaten her.  The only person who got in trouble in that case was the cop who smuggled the "lost" witness a cell phone to call for help.  So everything is a little "topsy turvy" in my view right now Mr. Chaffetz.

And I need a way to help victims like those at that strip club who I might be able to get to now because of this arrest hitting the news.  Now if I can figure out a way to help this woman who begged me for help in Pasadena - we'll have accomplished something.  It's really been hard now that I'm not just fighting cops - but now major media!  Urgh!

Ever since the news leaked out that series “8 Minutes” that aired briefly on A&E was “staged” - people have been wondering why.  Why would someone go to all that time, trouble, and money to not just film a series on this subject - and then not want the public to know it was “staged”?

When the “yep” guy sued to let us know that some of the storage unit auctions had been rigged - I got it.  The show needed some drama, and storage companies want to see people thinking they’re going to get rich at the auctions.  So I can understand why producers might have planted some stuff in those units to make their show more dramatic.   I mean why not call it a “re-enactment” even like some shows do?

The series was filmed by Relativity Media.  The same company that had some scandal a few years ago over the same thing with the “Gigolo” series.  It was also labeled “reality” and presented to the public an image of what the life of male escorts was like falsely.  I know because I was the one leading the charge to Showtime, the FCC, and even the authorities to have this show either taken off the air - or at least more accurately labeled.  Because it was clearly NOT the “reality” of the sex industry anymore than the images that we saw on “8 Minutes” were the “reality” of the sex industry.

Because here is the “reality” of the sex industry in America today.  There’s nothing illegal about a strip club.  The DEA agents who owned it had no reason to lie about owning a strip club.  So if they were lying about owning such a club - then it was because they were hiding something.  Something like hiring illegal immigrant women?  I doubt it.  I  mean why take the risk of hiring illegals when there’s plenty of legal American women willing to come shake their booties in the club?

I think it’s clear that they hired these women because of something else going on in the clubs they wanted to hide.  So they hired illegals so they didn’t to have to worry about what went on in the club  being repeated outside of the club.  Shortly before these arrests went down we read about a party where DEA agents were entertaining Columbian drug dealers with strippers.  The Columbian police were asked to watch the DEA agents’ guns during the party.  I’d be willing to lay down a cash bet some of the women working in that club were illegals from Columbia.  You put an American woman in such a club - and she might feel it’s not such a safe place to work.  She might quit - and then run off her mouth about why.

So you get women inside of the club who can’t run because they're illegal.  They’ll see all kinds of things in the club without the owners worrying about them going anywhere, or repeating anything for this reason.   Now I ask you - do you think men like that want those type of women to know there is a group like Sex Workers Anonymous they can call for help that will get them SAFELY out of there?

What’s the big deal?  They can call 100 groups to get out of there right?  I invite you to imagine the challenges of trying to help a woman get away from someone who has the power of the badge behind them.  Can that woman go to any local shelter?  Not when one phone call to a buddy in the police force, or jumping onto one of their computers, will let them know that a woman just showed up at the local shelter asking for admittance.  Some in uniform shows up and flashes a badge at the staff saying “I need to speak to her for a moment”.  Then she’s gone.  Staff asks “what happened to her?”  The response is “confidential - sorry”.  The wall of silence goes up and no one knows what happened to this woman after that.

What about the National Trafficking Hotline?  They absolutely could help her - so guess what?  Men like this have “friends” who belong to all the trafficking groups, the task forces, the community groups.   Take a look for example at Kevin Brown on “8 Minutes”.   He claims he retired from the Orange County police department two years ago and “found God”.  This led to him forming a church outreach to help trafficking victims.  Problem is that state records show he incorporated the church in 1994 - long before domestic sex trafficking even had federal recognition.

The news articles that started in October of 2012 claim that Greg Reese, another retired cop now private investigator, and Kevin Brown, started knocking on motel room doors of prostitutes and offering them the National Trafficking Hotline number to call for help.  Polaris would then refer callers from there to the Orange County Task Force.  The OC Task Force who is led by the Anaheim Police Department.  Who would then refer the call back to someone like Kevin Brown and Greg Reese.

Only let me ask you a hypothetical question - what if you're needing help to get away from people like Kevin Brown and Greg Reese?  Then what?  Crazy question huh?  So let me ask you something - why weren’t Kevin Brown and Gary Reese handing out phone numbers to victims of two groups who are set up to handle victims of trafficking, as well as those who just want to get out of Dodge for any reason, to either/or Sex Workers Anonymous or Children of the Night?

What’s the difference between the groups on the task force and SWA or CON?  Unlike every agency that’s listed on the Orange County Task Force “partners” page - SWA and CON are set up in structure for the very real fact that most victims of trafficking, as well as anyone involved in sex work that might want help to quit, are either being actively trafficked by men within our own government in some form, whether that’s the DEA, FBI, police, judges, politicians, etc. or certainly on the payroll to assist the traffickers.

We saw that clearly with the Chris Butler case that came to light in 2012.  Chris had also retired from the police after 20 years to then open some massage parlors also in California.  He then obtained drugs and protection from active duty, even awarded, police, who would get them from the evidence rooms and then resell the drugs, among other things like guns to the “johns”.   Something that’s also happening right now in Orange County -

This is the reason why you won’t find listings on many of these TV shows, or “task force" pages for Children of the Night, nor Sex Workers Anonymous.  One of the reasons why we formed in the first place was because we were finding that most of those people, male and female, who were being forced to work in the sex industry, were having to deal with people in our legal and political system preventing them from being able to leave.

Lois was finding the kids weren’t able to go to “regular" shelters for that reason - as well as I had the same problem myself when I tried to escape this ring of corruption when I was trying to leave.  People who were worried I might “turn” on them, or release their name to the press- got nervous about what I might say if I were to leave - and I wasn't “safe” at a “regular" program or shelter either.

So when I founded our group, and the movement itself to have domestic trafficking recognized as “real” - I did so stating we needed to decriminalize prostitution.  Why?  Because the very people trafficking us are the very people arresting us - now who do you think is going to be arrested if this is the case?

The competition.

This is nothing new.  This is exactly what I was speaking about in 1987 when I first went onto a talk show stage.   The difference between then and now is the audience used to “boo" at me and say I was “crazy” for saying this was even real.  However, now we have proven it’s real, and now I have a program that can get people safely out from under situations  like this - now I have talk show producers and reporters telling me if they write about us  they’ll get fired.  Then shows like “8 MInutes" come on that appear to the public to be showing there is a way out for these victims.  When the reality is to them they're being told there is no escape.

Only there is.  If you’re under 18 and need help - you can get into any cab and call the hotline at   They’ll arrange for your transportation there.  If you’re over 18 years of age - you can reach out to us at

June 23, 2015

Dear Supreme Court Justices:

My name is Jody Williams. I'm the founder of the 12 step program “Prostitutes Anonymous” which I created in 1987. We later renamed ourselves “Sex Workers Anonymous” in 1995 for two main reasons. The first being the invention of the internet. This created members coming to us for help who were working in the sex industry – while not being prostitutes having intercourse for money. Also, because many of the male and transgender members, as well as our pimps and madams who belonged to our program felt the title “Prostitutes Anonymous” was too restrictive.

The reality of the sex industry is that it has many forms. Many of which do not require physical intercourse for cash in order to be defined as being jobs within the “sex industry”. Take pornography for example. There are performers in the front of the camera – but there's also the camera person, the script writer, the sound person, editor, director, the marketing people who sell the films which are in packages created by graphic designers and then retailed in adult stores or websites online.

Within the strip club industry you have the owners, managers, bartenders, DJ's, waitresses, and then the dancers themselves who are just one part of the whole strip club industry. An industry that is intertwined with the food and beverage industry as clubs serve food and alcohol along with the entertainment, the music the girls dance to and even the lighting systems.

The legal brothel industry has the prostitutes – but they also employ managers or madams, along with security, maids, cooks, even the health care workers who run their health checks are in jobs that are connected directly to the sex industry.

The webcam and phone sex industry also employs many different types of people besides the performers. You have the owners, managers, and the IT people who keep the technology running. The website designers, the traffic generators, even the credit card companies who charge the customers for these types of sessions have to be a specialized type of billing because most customers don't want their wives, or employers, to know what they're spending their money on openly. This is why we now have things like “Bitcoin” for example.

So my position is that the sex industry, of which prostitution is but one component, is just that – an industry. One of the biggest mistakes I see people who focus strictly upon the tiny segment of the sex industry that are females who sell physical intercourse for an hourly rate in regions where it's illegal to do so is to consider that one can do something having only an impact upon the sex industry as a whole while only focusing upon that tiny segment of it. That would be as effective as saying that I'm going to wipe out the whole jewelry industry by only shutting down jewelry stores at malls. We all know that the jewelry industry is connected to the mining field, as well as those who design the jewelry, and even those industries that buy poor quality diamonds to make drills with. In other words, one can not address an whole industry while only focusing on one tiny little segment within it.

I honestly think I'm in a position to call that opinion an “expert” opinion also. For one thing, I worked in every area of the sex industry while I was within it during the years 1979 to 1985. The best count I could give as to the number of actual “tricks” I've turned during those years was over 10,000 – both male and female I'd like to point out. Within this industry I saw both male and females pimps, as well as male and female traffickers, male and female providers, as well as male and female clients.

I opened the first ever hotline for adults in the USA to have anyone, male or female, call for help to leave any part of the sex industry, whether they felt they were “trafficked” or not in 1987. The Polaris National Trafficking Hotline was not launched until the year 2002. The last report I read stated they'd answered 100,000 phone calls whereas my estimates in going over my phone records show I've personally answered over 500,000 phone calls to our hotline since our launch.

I run the oldest and largest program for adults, again male and female, who are leaving the sex industry in any form for any reason. Whether that person feels they're leaving because they were “forced” to be in the industry, or whether they don't – we have been a part in some way of the largest number of people exiting the sex industry within this country.

Larger and older than the groups listed in the brief of “Agency for International Development, Inc. vs. Alliance for Open Society International, et al.” certainly. While groups like “Breaking Free” and “Courtney's House” certainly are fine programs from what I've heard who help female prostitutes to exit a life of street prostitution through a residential system – I would be willing to bet that overall our program has worked with more men and women (as well as transgenders), leaving more areas of the sex industry than they have in these programs, and in more numbers certainly.

Over a broader geographic, cultural, and religious span I'd like to add. I say that because the people we work with come from any, and no, religions. We have worked with Buddhists, Jews, Muslims, Wiccans, Pagans, atheists and even members of the “Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster” who signify their membership by wearing a coriander on their heads when taking their DMV photos. The members we have worked with have been convicted of felonies – which I understand some of the programs listed in this brief refuse to work with. Some of our members have severe mental illnesses, as well as very serious health issues such as being HIV positive for example.

Again, something I understand some of the programs listed in this brief do not work with – however we do. We currently have chapters, and members, of our program all across this country from coast to coast, border to border, and into Canada, as well as five other countries. Our members are not only employed within the legal and illegal job duties within the sex industry – but we also work with “legal” and “illegal” citizens of the USA, as well as within other countries such as Australia where they also have “illegal aliens” in this country who may be employed within the kega or illegal sex industry in some fashion.

Why do I think this is important? Since I've seen groups arise in this country focusing solely upon the female who sells intercourse for an hourly rate working in illegal regions to do so – I've seen trafficking victims within the legal sex industries grow at an alarming rate. I have literally seen women in shelters that they were put in for “safety” as a “trafficking victim” have the same shelter workers be told they can't stop them from going to work at a strip club as a dancer because “that's not trafficking”. I have seen whole programs at schools directed to getting help to female trafficking victims call for the girls to come up to speak to counselors for help – while leaving the boys sitting there completely ignored.

So not only do I think I'm in the running for being a survivor of the sex industry, and sex trafficking, myself who has been in this field the longest over anyone else who is a part of the writing of this brief, witnessed more kinds of sex work and trafficking, and have talked to more people from a much broader geographical, religious, cultural, and political base than those attached to this brief – but I also think I've heard the stories behind more different types of situations that those in the sex industry have found themselves in when trying to leave than probably if you combined all of these groups together.

I also think I'm probably one person also who actually has more EFFECTIVE experience when it comes to dealing with the sex industry and HIV than the others connected to this brief. I'll explain why by starting with how our society was viewing HIV back in the 1980's as the “gay plague”. In 1986, the year before I started our hotline, and program, there was a proposition being worked on that called to put junkies, gays and prostitutes on an island to “quarantine” them. That was their “solution” to the HIV epidemic that was being viewed back then as an almost entirely gay male problem.

However, I knew from the men that I'd see sleep with these male teen prostitutes during their lunch breaks – only to go home to their wives that it was just a matter of time before this virus jumped over into the heterosexual community. Which is why when I started knocking on the CDC and UCLA doors in 1987 – I was saying we were facing a serious crisis that was only going to get worse if the current HIV system did not change dramatically the way they were treating sex workers, and trafficking victims. They also were only focusing on the concept of a female selling illegal sex in their attempts to try and address an HIV epidemic. This left way too many loopholes. To see if I was right – a test was done showing an almost 80 percent infection rate among the broad range of sex workers I got them to test.

Tom Bradley was the mayor then. Cutting all red tape, and seeing how urgent this situation was – he created a special board for me to be on as well as someone from each department. The health, probation, social services, housing, police, DA's office, etc. all came together with me figuring out how we could work together on a project that would not only help sex workers, but also trafficking victims, and addicts, to not be treated like criminals – but instead to get the services they needed, along with the help to get free to accept these services, by coordinating all of the agencies involved in such a complex issue as this. What he did that was innovative was to treat the sex workers just like any other industry – suspending all efforts to “incriminate” sex workers for prostitution during this crisis. He also allowed us to focus on the sex industry as a whole, including the trafficking issue, which allowed us to design a system that would effectively reach out to all who needed help, whether they were in legal or “illegal” parts of the sex industry. The test was done again after only one year showing our rate of infection had now dropped to 6 percent. A number lower than that of “non” sex workers and that proved our approach had been effective.

Which means I do consider myself quite an opinion to offer on this issue and why I'm writing you. First of all to state the position that the sex industry is like any other industry whether that be farming, mining, manufacturing, food, hospitality, or the service industry. Because any industry has it's “legal” and “illegal” aspects of it. Take the alcohol industry as one example. You have legal breweries, wineries, and distillers – and you have illegal moonshiners up in the hills of Kentucky. You have people selling legal bottles of alcohol in “dry” counties on “dry” days like a Sunday. So the sex industry has it's “legal” and “illegal” aspects of the same act that change from region to region without changing themselves. One can legally shoot a porn in California – but can't in Arizona from what I understand to illustrate my point. While again means if you want to address the industry as a whole – you have to look at it this way.

Does this mean we “approve” of this industry? While abortion is legal – I am willing to venture that there are many who do not “approve” of this industry. In fact, some people find it downright horrific. The same for the executioner who executes the ceasing of life in the inmate who has just received the death sentence. He has to flip that switch, or push that button, in a profession where many people have strong opposition in fact to the death penalty. Some even call it downright murder. But whether we “approve” of this or not – it's still an industry. The fact we don't approve of it doesn't change that it is in fact a job for someone.

Is it dangerous? Of course it is – just as men who do window cleaning on high rises have a dangerous job. Just as New York Police officers have a dangerous job. So dangerous one gets a high rate of PTSD? Look at the rates of our military coming back from the war as to how many of them are coming back missing a body part and also suffering from PTSD. However, we call them “serving our country” when they return back to the states minus some body parts after violent attacks and trying to sleep while having horrible night terrors. We don't consider what they're doing an “abuse”.

Does it have trafficking victims? Of course it does – again just like many other industries. Leona Helmsley was locked up for having maids she was forcing to work within her hotel in the 1990's. We've read stories recently of iPhone's being manufactured by slave labor, and cotton being picked for Target by trafficking victims. While trafficking victims can be found in strip clubs – they can also be found on farms or even restaurant kitchens.

The sex industry is just like any industry. Which means yes trafficking exists within it when the demand exceeds the supply and people looking to make a buck will break the law by forcing someone to perform that job. Is it a dangerous job? Again, just like many dangerous jobs. I understand that we lost many a man who was building Hoover Dam. Stressful? Just like jobs that police officers and our soldiers experience. Short-lived? Just like the careers of child actors, dancers, athletes, or even politicians who are limited to serving only two terms in a lifetime.

What is different about the sex industry than any other industry is this however – it refuses to acknowledge within itself that trafficking exists, that it is often a short-lived career, that it is highly dangerous, workers are just as prone to abuse as any industry that works with children, and that all workers need to have an exit plan made available to them. It further is one that says sex is different when given for free vs. purchased – however it still doesn't address issues within it of just that difference.

What I mean by that is rape and sexual harassment within the industry. For example, within the legal brothels of Nevada I know of no prostitute who has ever sued their employer for sexual harassment, nor of filing a rape case against a client. Now I know it's happened – frequently. But I know that if a legal prostitute in a Nevada brothel had the grounds to file charges against a customer for rape, or against an owner for sexual harassment, or even tried to file sex trafficking charges against their pimp for forcing them to work in that brothel – it's not going to even get filed.

Why? Because it's the only industry I'm aware of that has briefs like this one trying to ask the Supreme Court to call it an “abuse” on it's face. I can point to more NFL football players with severe brain injuries from playing football than I can point to prostitutes with those same severe brain injuries that these football players suffered while “on the job” - yet I don't see anyone filing a brief with the Supreme Court trying to have professional football labeled as an “abuse”. Facts like this are what is unique about the sex industry over others.

This brief is full of assumptions and opinions and beliefs about not only the sex industry, but also the people within that industry that is judgmental, biased, condescending, sexist, anti-LGBT, and downright hateful. If I'm wrong that this brief doesn't reflect the writers' sexism, as well as anti-LGBT views – then please point out to me where it's addressing the male and transgender members of the sex industry? Also, where does it address those working within the sex industry who are not performing intercourse? I worked on a case for over a year where the trafficking victims were locked up in a house with a webcam on them 24/7. They were not having intercourse – yet they were victims. Yet within the scope of what the writers of this brief are asking you to consider as “victims” - no help would have been sent to them.

As for the “judgmentalness” - I'd like to know where the mention is of the madams and pimps who are also trafficking victims. Yes it happens. I've got at least two interviews up on our radio show at where the victim reports they were forced to go out and recruit, train and “manage” another prostitute or they, and others, would be harmed. This includes the pimping of one's own children. I know of many cases for example where the pimp will then turn around and use the mother to pimp their own child within the trafficking world. So here I'm speaking about a female madam who is also a trafficking victim. A concept that I don't see even addressed within this brief because the writers have their own personal “judgments” that these can't be victims also.

Yet they are real and they need help also in leaving the sex industry – and finding recovery after what they've been through so that they don't return. Providing recovery isn't “optional”. It's important because if the person stays damaged then they are very likely going to wind up returning to the sex industry, in some form, in order to pay their bills. Not just as a victim – but also as someone who is actively harming another. Which means if you want them to be able to leave that world entirely you must provide all those exiting with recovery and rehabilitation.

As for the “hatefulness” - let me point out something in this brief that might not be apparent to the naked eye. I'm the writer of the “Recovery Guide” that is quoted in this brief. It was my story that was quoted in fact where I spoke about “pinching myself” because I didn't feel real. However, that quote was taken out of context. I had started to experience dissociative identity disorder when I was very young. After having been sexually abused by my father, physically abused by my mother, and then raped multiple times – I had already started developing a “disconnect” between my mind and my body before I ever went into the sex industry.

The period of time I was experiencing this very “pinching” incidence was when I was not out turning actual “tricks” but instead isolating in my house. In other words, it was not the sex industry that was responsible for my feeling like I wasn't “real” during that point in my life. It was however caused by surrounding myself with people who weren't listening to me. People who were self-absorbed and self-obsessed with their own addiction – such as sex addicts and drug addicts are. People who tend to populate the world – not just the sex industry.

In my recovery, I identified this fact. That I had those periods of time where I felt “invisible” because I had chosen to fill my life with people who were not looking at me because they were consumed with their own addictions, their own obsessions, and could care less about me in the process. Surrounding oneself with these types of people, and feeling you are “invisible”, will make anyone depressed and also “invisible”. The numbness then creates the need to seek out excitement to “feel” something. All things I had to reverse in order to find “recovery” from the life I'd fallen into.

Which is why I broke off my ties with some of the very people who are involved in the writing of this brief just as I broke off with those people who were making me feel invisible while I was in the sex industry. I found the “abolitionists” were just as likely as the “johns” or other prostitutes to not be truly listening to me, could care less about me, and in fact would lie, cheat, steal, do anything to get their “fix”, and I was an object to them to be used to get what they wanted.

Just as the writers of this brief have taken a quote from my story, from my book, without giving me the respect of asking me first if they could do so, without buying the book from me even that was quoted, without acknowledging the program that this book is connected to (the AA “Big Book” for example is a part of the Alcoholics Anonymous program yet I don't see any mention made here of my book being a part of Sex Workers Anonymous nor is SWA listed in their list of groups that work with domestic sex trafficking victims), taking what I said completely out of the context I meant it in to try and support their agenda without any concern whatsoever for the damaging consequences said quote is going to have upon myself personally nor our program.

I say that because ours is a 12 step program. As such, we are not to have “any opinion on an outside issue” such as what the sex industry is or is not. Yet here these people are using our book to support “their” opinion on this “outside issue” where they are asking you to call prostitution a “system of abuse” without even asking me if it's okay to quote the book I wrote, and my story. If you ask me THAT'S abuse of me.

Well guess what? This is not the first time they have used my name, our programs' name, our literature, etc. in order to express their condemnation and judgment upon the sex industry as a “system of abuse” in and of itself – opinions that have destroyed the once excellent working relationships I had within the sex industry that I depended upon in order to find not only our members being those who were in sex work but now wanted help to exit, but also the very trafficking victims who needed our help also. Because I rely upon the people in the active sex industry to call me when they see trafficking which means when these people who wrote this brief do things to destroy my relationships within the sex industry by doing things like including my book in their efforts - making the sex industry think I'm on board with them on things like this. In other words, THEY are actively working against me from being able to help the very victims they say they're trying to help when talking to people like you.

Because these people within the active sex industry reads these statements and make the assumption that I'm a part of this. They see my book and my name in this brief – and think that I'm in support of the statements within said brief. Guess what that does? It makes them angry and they lash out at me feeling betrayed because when I talk to them directly I tell them I do not have anything against the industry itself. Since day one when I started this program I have not made such judgments about the industry itself as “abuse”. I will however seek to block any abuse from any angle whether that abuse is coming from a pimp, or a client, or even a abolitionist who is trying to act like they know more than we do about our lives.

Let me put it this way – more women are killed by their husbands than by any other type of man. More women are physically assaulted, beaten, and even raped, by their husbands, than by strangers. More women lose their pregnancies behind an assault they will suffer more by their husbands than by men who are not their husbands. Domestic violence occurs more within a marriage than it does outside of a marital situation. Now that said – am I going to say that “marriage is abuse” simply because a high number of women who are married are victims? No I'm not because it's not the marriage that's causing the abuse – it's the abusers. Just the same as the people who are abusing farm workers and sex workers are the ones responsible for the abuse upon these men, women and transgenders who are employed within this field. Abuse is not only inherent in sex work – it's everywhere. It's even in the abolitionist groups. This very brief in my opinion is a form of abuse against us in fact. The groups writing this brief have excluded our groups' members, and they try and speak for us about our lives. They care not about the damage they cause us and like they did with a quote from a book I wrote – they even use our words against us without our consent.

But until we treat the sex industry the same as any other – without all these judgments, biases, sexist views, etc. the abuse is going to continue to be bad and I'll tell you why. Because of the label this brief wants to put on people as “prostitutes”. That's an objectification they want to put on us. An objectification they want to label us with. Just as they want to label people as “pimps” and “madams” and “victims”. I say that because I've seen the way they treat me. Despite the fact that I left the sex industry in 1985, and have been clean since – the people within these groups listed as bringing this brief treat me like I'm “less than” one of them. They do this because bottom line they view me not as a human being who once worked in the industry - but as a “prostitute”, an “addict”, a “pimp”, a “madam”, and as “crazy” are but only some of the words I've heard people within their groups call me online excusing their treatment of me with disrespect, and of excluding me from their activities.

Take the Survivors Connect Network was one example. That group at one time had set up a forum where they were telling members that I was ACTIVELY working as a “pimp” a few years ago. Anyone who defended me was excluded from the group and shunned. When I served them with a “cease and desist” letter threatening them with a defamation case – they tore the whole forum down but never issued an apology.

The Trafficking in America Task Force has excluded me from their groups online, as well as their events they hold. They have excluded me from speaking at their events, our members have been expelled from their groups, and anyone who defends us has also been shunned and blocked from their activities. This brief included as we were not asked to weigh in on this brief despite the fact the issue involves the same community we work with.

Melissa Farley, who runs the Prostitution Research & Education Center also excludes me from any of her activities. Anyone who even speaks to her about me will start hearing a barrage of lies about me which all serve to let the caller know if they are supporters of us in any way they will be shunned also. We can't even get on her mailing list to stay involved in any of her research projects in any way.

The group “Sextrade 101” has a listing up on their website for years now that they are holding “Prostitutes Anonymous” meetings they refuse to remove. When I have contacted them about registering the meeting, using our current name, and obtaining our current literature to use during these meetings, as well as connecting the members to the fellowship at large – I'm lied to and told “we don't hold meetings any longer”. However, they continue to keep this listing up, they use it in their grant applications, and people within their program tell me they attend these meetings. So they lie to me, use my intellectual trademarked property, exploit my work, and then shun the rest of our members.

When I've reached out to try and connect our members up to any of the other groups listed in this brief – I'm just ignored. However, not a month goes by when someone doesn't tell me about some insult, some attack, or some snark made about me personally, as well as our program, and even attacks upon the very name of our program, are issued out of the mouths of the people who run these programs.

That type of viewpoint that they feel they can treat any human being the way they treat me they base upon something to do with my past within the sex industry. In other words, they don't consider me as “one of their victims”. This is how they have justified the harms they've done to me over the years, the harms to our program, the harm to my relationships, and even their outright exploitation of a book that took me years of hard work, and a lot of money and sacrifice to get written. A book they feel they can just go in and take out a line they want to take out, not even show me the courtesy of speaking to me about it, nor even buying the book they quoted from me, without giving me any respect whatsoever, not even respecting our group by even listing our name – and just use my writing however they feel to support their agenda simply because they think my feelings, my work, my views, don't matter.

If I'm wrong about this – then please explain to me why at the bottom of this very brief all these other groups are listed yet I fail to see our group, Sex Workers Anonymous, that wrote that book, listed. Do you know why I believe they didn't list our program? Because the day Melissa Farley came to me in 2007 and asked me if I would state that “all prostitution was abuse” as a public statement right as we were getting ready to do a press conference together that she had lied to me about why I was even there in the first place in order to get me in front of that camera – and I said “no”. That is the day the campaign has started from her that has spread into the very movement I CREATED where now groups like hers, Prostitution Research Project, and others connected to hers such as the others listed in this brief, all act like I, and our 1,000's of members, just don't exist anymore in their world.

They are the ones disrespecting us, abusing us, exploiting us, no different than a trafficker in my opinion. This brief is evidence of that accusation. They have taken again a piece of literature I spent years of my life writing, $1,000's of my own dollars putting together the research to create a “Recovery Guide” for our 12 step program, and then took a quote out of context out of it they felt suited their purpose, and they presented it to you as something “we” agree with acting like they're speaking for “us” while in reality they're denying “us” and our views. They're doing this to get money, to advance their own personal careers, their own political agendas – and they show absolutely no concern for any damages they're causing me, or our program, in the process as long as they get what they want.

They are doing this because in their mind I'm just a “prostitute” and a “pimp” as they have called me online to slander and degrade me. While quoting our book when it suits them – they have never invited me to one of their events to speak or educate despite the fact I do represent the largest and oldest group of survivors, and the fact I started the domestic trafficking movement. When I said an opinion they disagreed with – they set about a campaign to try and run me right out of this field. It's a long story – but they have told people their careers would be “over” if they even so much as speak to me or acknowledge we exist since I told them I do not agree that “prostitution” is a system of abuse.

Sex work, even prostitution, is a job title. It is not the title of a person. My name is Jody Williams. While I have worked as a graphic designer, paralegal, writer, and even as a prostitute – that has been my career and not my identity. The people who have abused me have been pimps, madams, prostitutes, and even professors who are a part of the writing of this brief. Therefore, I am writing you to let you know that I strongly object to the fact they used my writing to support their brief and why.

I also do not agree that HIV will be “easier” to treat if prostitution is recognized as a “system of abuse”. That is absolutely not true. Again, they are making a separate class of person than a person. Even the very term they're proposing here suggests that of a female engaging in direct intercourse for money is the only one who can be a “victim of abuse”. However, those who are risk for HIV may also be male, transgender, lesbian, or bisexual. They might be a street walker, or a porn performer, a stripper, a madam, a pimp, or even a webcam cam performer who might be pulling gang bangs without condoms. To limit the risk the way they are is what is going to cause the virus to spread even further in my opinion through their ignorance of how this industry works. An ignorance of how it works because they shun anyone who disagrees with them, who has the broad range of knowledge and experience of this industry that I can provide to those trying to do something about this HIV epidemic I'm seeing spread across this country as we speak, and can offer those who want to do something to truly address this crisis.

The people associated with this brief ran people like myself, and others like Dr. Sharon Mitchell, another ex-porn performer who became a doctor and opened the AIM Clinic that used to test sex workers exclusively, right out of this field when we wouldn't agree with their views. They have acted like we don't exist, not invited us to speak at their events, and threatened anyone who even wanted to speak to us with tanking their careers, let alone wanting to involve us in the HIV issue, as it connects to the sex industry and sex trafficking. As a result of this – I've personally witnessed it leading to another HIV outreach in this country unparalleled since the original 1980's epidemic when we were last not a part of this field either.

So I'm writing to all of you on the Supreme Court who heard this brief I found out about accidentally online while trying to find out why so many within the sex industry are convinced that I'm speaking out against them suddenly. Let me say this – if the writers of this brief knew anything about how this industry truly operates, let alone cared about us, then I wouldn't have had to find out about this brief quoting my own book on an accidental google search. The fact this was how I found out is a sign of the type of disrespect they show all of us, and the presumption they can ignore out voices and speak for us the very way they're doing in this same brief.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me anytime at the above information. Thank you for listening to my feelings and opinions on this matter.
