How is a child victim of sex trafficking supposed to be getting treated properly when we've got the clients and trafficker within the system?  This man was a prosecutor caught with child porn.

Re:         Decriminalization of Juveniles Caught in Prostitution

Dear Mr. Santiago:

Please allow me to introduce myself.  Back in the 1970’s and 1980’s when I was growing up, the very concept of sex trafficking did not exist.  Those in prostitution were viewed strictly and only as criminal’s period.  The 1980’s had us getting from all angles.  There was HIV/AIDS killing us off in droves while the medical community was refusing to even touch us once they found out we were prostitutes for fear of contracting the disease.  Serial killers were targeting us because they knew law enforcement wouldn’t even look for us when one of our friends called to report us missing.  To top if off, police departments used to do weekly “sweeps” where they’d just round us up like cattle.  After collecting their fines and humiliating us – then they’d just let us go.  The courts would put us on probation with insane conditions and then wonder why we weren’t able to get jobs in the legitimate world.

I saw one brave woman try and tell the world most of us were being forced to do what we were doing – her name was Linda Lovelace.  In 1980 she stepped up to tell the world she’d been forced to film “Deep Throat” with her husband pointing a gun at her from off camera while no one on the mob financed set lifted a finger to help her.  To make sure no one would believe her, Chuck Traynor, her husband slash pimp, had his new wife, Marilyn Chambers do a media blitz professing he was nothing she was saying was true.  Of course the media didn’t see her stumble into a Narcotics Anonymous meeting in 1985, the same year I hit NA, confessing to me he had also been controlling her with drugs.  With no laws on the books against trafficking, the best law enforcement could do about what happened to her was to charge everyone on the film but her with “obscenity”.

This was ridiculous.  It was open season on us and we had no protection because no one believed we were being victimized.  While this was happening, I started seeing new drug courts popping up providing the addict with treatment rather than treating them like criminals.  I saw the parallels and contacted Edwin Meese.  He had been working on the Meese Report on Pornography with Linda’s help, and was the California Attorney General at the time.  He told me we’d never see decriminalization of prostitution probably in my lifetime, and the reason why the addict had drug court was because there was an AA and NA.  In other words, there was a treatment option.  Mr. Meese explained if I formed a 12 step program we could go in and ask the court for “alternative sentencing” options.

With no safe house for those of us over 18 back then, and only one for teenagers in the whole country, I took an old warehouse and turned it into the first one in the USA.  Then an angry pimp claimed I was running a brothel and I found myself ironically being charged as a pimp despite the fact I’d retired by then.  You can read about the arrest at www.hightechmadam.com  Because of the security I’d put on the place – the media dubbed me the “High Tech Madam”.  There was no way anyone believed this was a safe house because no one believed we were victims.

This was why the 12 step idea appealed to me.  I didn’t want to do another residential program.  As long as we were now “outpatient”, I might as well go international.  Nothing else like it existed anywhere at the time and I couldn’t see myself turning away anyone wanting help.  To get people into the meetings, we created the first hotline for people to call when they wanted help to leave any part of the sex industry if they were over 18 years of age.  Children of the Night was working with teenagers then – leaving us adults with nothing in the way of help and services.

Now we just had to convince the courts most of us were not out there by choice, because of drugs, or some kind of moral deficiency.   To do this, we started a massive media campaign to raise awareness assisted by France Nuyen, the actress from South Pacific and the Joy Luck Club.  She made public service announcements for us which ran all night promoting our hotline.  I took members of our program onto talk shows which were popular in the 1980’s and 1990’s to tell our stories – and convince the government we needed laws written and federal recognition this was real.   Then we saw the Trafficking Act of 2000 pass.

One of the reasons I’ve stayed focused on working with adults is because in most of the situations involving juveniles, it’s just not the same as adults.  When an adult calls me up wanting help – they’re in a position where they can get to meetings and accept help.  But when I first started doing this work clear back in 1987, I had many teenagers running to me for safety.  Only five minutes behind them was usually a parent demanding their return.  I can’t help someone when I have their parents telling me if I keep them safe with me I’m going to be charged with kidnapping.  This is why I’ve always sent teens to Lois at Children of the Night – because I’m not equipped to deal with the massive undertaking working with juveniles represents.

Working with this issue for THIRTY YEARS now, I can strongly tell you this.  While I do urge decriminalization of sex work for adults, I STRONGLY do NOT agree for the same with juveniles and I’ll tell you why.  My mother was my pimp.  Most teenagers are in some way, shape or form, pimped out by the adults responsible for their care.  I favor decriminalization for adults because that’s the only way I know to get witnesses to come forward willing to testify against our pimps.  But for juveniles – this is a completely different situation.

There are two “systems” to deal with this issue – the criminal justice system and the mental health community.  When a juvenile is arrested and then put in front of a judge – that judge is then in a position to court order the proper treatment.  They can also remove that child from a bad situation they can not leave on their own.  From there, they’re put on probation where there are strict requirements.  When I was on probation, I was forced to go to school, get a job, etc.  If my probation had not required those things of me under the threat of violating my probation and thus jail – I NEVER would have been able to get out of the sex industry and clean.

I hate to be cruel but our Child Protective Services is failing us now as it is.  You have social workers burning out and rotating cases every six months.  Most workers in California report a caseload NOW of 60 or so cases they can’t even deal with now as it is.  IF you load on top of them monitoring a situation as complex as a child being pimped in most cases by their parents OR by their boyfriends who their parents are not doing anything about the situation, the bough is just going to break here.  What are you going to do in the way of counseling?  Do you really think one of these parents who are neglecting them now, or outright mistreating them, is going to take the steps to get them proper counseling?  Where are the properly trained counselors who take Medicaid?
I’ve modified our 12 step program for juveniles and created a Sexual Exploitation Anonymous program.  Yes having 12 step groups set up where these kids can go and talk safely will provide some type of assistance and support for these kids, but in trying to find the help to monitor these meetings I’m just not finding the proper resources in enough of a supply from enough people as it is in the areas where this problem is at it’s highest.

Plus things have changed.  I have to be honest with you and speak plainly – the areas where juvenile prostitution are the highest are also the areas where you’re also finding many local police officers, even judges, prosecutors, etc., are either directly involved in the sex trafficking, or they’re “clients”.  Like the two LAPD officers caught in Los Angeles raping prostitutes, and then forcing them to be “informants”, this means now even they aren’t able to come to our program willingly much either.  Our group in Oakland was completely trashed by the local police and the media now has brought to light why.  Because also in the areas where juvenile prostitution is at it’s highest, our group is coming under attack not just by street pimps, but also cops who are pimps and johns.

Meaning the only way I even see these teens would even make it to one of our meetings would be if court ordered.  I ask you, if a teen has one of their parents pimping them, and a cop as a client or even taking a piece of the action for himself – do you really think that child is going to make it to a voluntary therapy session or one of our meetings?  Who is going to drive them?  You and I both know they’re reliant upon their caretakers to get them to something like counseling.  But if this teen is in prostitution then the caretaker has already failed them.

Are you now going to ask that same person to be responsible to help the teen get out of what that adult PUT them INTO?  That’s what “decriminalization” is going to do.  To make matters worse, you will have no way of keeping track of these kids.  No one is going to be able to follow-up on them because there won’t even be a court jacket with information for them to even know who to follow-up on.

I’m the person who started this very movement to decriminalize prostitution so that we could prosecute our traffickers, and also so we could get help to exit sex work.  I’m now sharing with you my belief decriminalization for teens is a horrible mistake.  If I myself had not been arrested, then forced by the court to get counseling, go to school, get a job, etc. not only would I not have made it out of that whole lifestyle – more importantly my own family would never have gotten out of my way.  When it was time for me to get a job, go to school, etc., they helped me because they didn’t want me to go to jail.  If there was not that sword hanging over my head – again I’d not be out today myself.  I wasn’t happy about being arrested – but it truly saved my life.

That’s my two cents now on  this.  Thank you for listening.

Sincerely,

Jody Williams

ABOUT WWW.SEXWORKERSANONYMOUS.ORG

First, please note the day this website was set up.  It was set up on May 26, 2015 originally.  http://whois.domaintools.com/sexworkersanonymous.org  Further note the person who registered it did so "anonymously" and has not posted their name on the site standing behind the statements there.  Also know the series "8 Minutes" had started airing three weeks before May 26th.  It was taken off the air after the 2nd episode.

Now, go and look at www.hightechmadam.com  Note the date of the first article about the 12 step program which we originally called "Prostitutes Anonymous" in 1987 was dated August of 1987.

Take a walk around online and see if you find anything like this about me, or our program, anywhere else pre-dating May 26, 2015.

Anything.

The only other negative statements you will find about us online as of June 22, 2016 when I wrote this are found on https://www.ratethatrescue.org/wp/organizations/sexworkersanonymous-com/

Notice the domain for this was registered on May 27, 2015
https://whois.name.com/whois/www.ratethatrescue.org  So ONE DAY after this site was set up about me being a "predator", this "ratethatrescue" site was set up with this page commenting about our program at https://www.ratethatrescue.org/wp/organizations/sexworkersanonymous-com/  The wording on this site about our program was lifted off our website at www.sexworkersanonymous.com which has a copyright symbol on it.  Meaning this copying and posting of our content is in itself a copyright infringement.

The last comment posted on this site was dated October of 2015.  So nothing before, and nothing after, has been posted in their vein about our program, or myself personally.

This program has been operating since 1987.  Now do you really think in THIRTY YEARS of operation if I was truly like the person being painted here would not the web BE CHOCK FULL OF SITES LIKE THIS?

Let's take a look at something in comparison.  I have a Paypal account as do a lot of people.  Let's see what people post online about Paypal - Wow a $25 million dollar class action lawsuit.  https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/open-lawsuit-settlements/306260-paypal-account-hold-class-action-settlement/

Here's a whole website full of horror stories about Paypal - http://www.paypalwarning.com/

Screw Paypal - http://www.screw-paypal.com/paypal_lawsuits.html

Paypal sucks - http://www.paypalsucks.com/links.shtml

Here's a news article attacking them http://www.forbes.com/sites/ryanmac/2016/05/24/this-silicon-valley-billionaire-has-been-secretly-funding-hulk-hogans-lawsuits-against-gawker/#12060d9d7805

Another news article - http://theurbantwist.com/2016/02/01/paypal-sued-lost/

Meaning Paypal has more than one site up by more than one person over a long period of time set up warning people about Paypal.  There's also more than one news article attacking Paypal online also.

Now, Paypal is a lot less than 30 years old.  But yet they have way more sites, and media articles up attacking them.  I don't see one single media article attacking me up anywhere.  Not one reporter has come in and "exposed the maniac" those two sites are claiming that I am.

In fact, www.ratethatrescue.org has a positive statement up about me.  I know because one of our members had called me saying she had been trying to post something positive and was being blocked.  So another one of our members said to let her try and post something from an "anonymizer" so they wouldn't know who she was and see if they'd post her positive comment.  She was able to post it only to have it immediately attacked by the claim I MYSELF had posted this comment.  Yet you'll note no screen shot of an IP address or email of the sender to prove I myself made that comment.  So anyone posting something positive was either banned from doing so or accused of just being me in disguise.

Yeah that's fair.

Let's see what does the media say about me?    Better yet let's approach the accusation this program is a program "of one person only" as the site claims.  Here's an article about our Chicago group http://www.nbcchicago.com/investigations/Jail-Inmates-Start-Prostitutes-Anonymous-Group-277845151.html run by Brenda Myers-Powell.

OUR PROGRAM IS ONLY ONE PERSON - ME
Well that certainly looks like more than one person and I'm not even in the video.

Here's an article about Kathleen Mitchell in Phoenix.  http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/news/ex-prostitutes-who-proselytize-6431069  Looks like we're more than one person and that person's not me.  I don't even live in Phoenix.

I could go on but I think you get the point.  Notice these articles are about "Prostitutes Anonymous" however.  Yet this site is about "Sex Workers Anonymous".  Is this two different groups?  No.   Go back to www.hightechmadam.com and you'll see we start out as "Prostitutes Anonymous" and in later years our program is called "Sex Workers Anonymous".  That's because our program changed names in 1995.  However, these groups featuring Brenda and Kathleen were founded PRIOR to 1995 so they've been calling themselves "Prostitutes Anonymous" since they started.  Kathleen's group was founded in 1991.  Now after calling yourselves a name for years - you're going to be used to it.  So our older groups go by the older name.  No point in changing them but they're still meetings held within our overall program.

Now is it possible these women THOUGHT no other group existed because maybe they were googling under our new name instead or our original name?  What comes up under Sex Workers Anonymous?

Here's a meeting listed of us in a book about "Anonymous Society"  https://books.google.com/books?id=9o9JDAAAQBAJ&pg=PA32&lpg=PA32&dq=sex+workers+anonymous+meetings&source=bl&ots=wMJqkNjujm&sig=ImbyJCO3eOf7pAg7To3RlDuOgDg&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwib-q6VjL3NAhVU1GMKHYfoAM84KBDoAQgwMAM#v=onepage&q=sex%20workers%20anonymous%20meetings&f=false

How about a meeting in Cleveland, Ohio?  http://www.clevescene.com/cleveland/prostitute-anonymous-tales-of-the-street-from-a-former-cleveland-madame/Content?oid=4330785

Allentown, PA http://www.mediafire.com/download/p9ktpkc0ee19vur/allentownarticle.pdf

Los Angeles?  http://articles.latimes.com/1993-10-29/news/va-50887_1_alcoholics-anonymous

These are articles written by the press - not an individual person.  They're speaking about our meetings within other cities and states.  Places I have never been.

So this is really just a "one woman program of someone who is delusional enough to think she's running a real program?"

What about the Las Vegas group I've been running since 1996 in Nevada?  John Quinones from ABC's "What Would You Do?" flew out to Las Vegas and took me to lunch.  Then he came to watch how we run the group, and spoke to other members of the program.  Here's what he wrote in his 2009 book "Heroes Among Us?"

QUALITY OF OUR PROGRAM
As to the quality of our program, a 10 year study was done by professor Sharon Oselin in her report published "Leaving Prostitution".  I've scanned what the women she interviewed about us had to say about our program in their words published by a professor I didn't even know when this was going on.

MAILBOX ADDRESS
Okay I "have a UPS box for an address".  Note they said in their own words they "asked someone to drive by the address to see what it was".  Now I assure you running a program like ours, people are going to be curious and drive by.  I had a family.  I was raising a child for 18 years.  Now why would I advertise my home address?  ESPECIALLY when angry hookers online are sending people over to check out where I live?  I ask you what would have happened possibly if it had been my home?   Name me one "legit business" whose founder, owner, or director, lists their home address online other than the President living in the White House?

TRADEMARK
I have no "trademark".  I never said I had a trademark and I don't need one.  Yes to order one costs $159.  However, I give away our literature.  I don't pass a basket at our meetings.  I don't sell t-shirts.  I don't hold fund raisers.  I give away our step working guides.   So first of all, why would I invest $159 to protect a trademark for products that I give away?

Second, I never said I had a trademark.  I do have what's called a "common law trademark".  What that means is if I've been operating a commercial venture for years under a certain name, then I am protected by what's called "common law trademark" which IS enforceable as to intellectual property, and materials we've created.    You can read more about what "common law trademarks" are here http://www.bitlaw.com/trademark/common.html

NOT A NONPROFIT
Sex Workers Anonymous is not a "registered nonprofit".  http://501c3lookup.org/omni-scii_sex_workers_anonymous/  Strange.  Sure looks like we are.

DON'T HAVE ANY COPYRIGHTS

SEEKING PUBLICITY
As for my "seeking publicity for myself with 8 Minutes", I first of all didn't reach out to this person calling herself Kamylla.  She contacted me.  I then did not contact one single person in the media at any time.  All media initiated their contact with me.  How did they know to contact me in the first place?  Kamylla.  During my phone conversation with Kamylla she gave me consent to publish a tape recording of her call online, she also gave me permission to talk about her to anyone who asked.  The reporters called me because she told them about me and gave them my number.  So who is "seeking notoriety here?"

I was doing all of this to somehow put money in my pocket is their accusation.  Okay show me a fund raiser  I put on for Kamylla.  Show me a fund raiser I put on to gather press and social media for myself?  However, the Cupcake Girls did.  I don't see anyone talking about how they used Kamylla to enhance their press and social media despite the fact they gathered $10,000 to give to her.  For what exactly?  Legal fees.  Only there were no legal fees.  There was no eviction filed with the Houston courthouse under her legal name.  Why would there be?  A landlord can't charge rent on a flooded legally uninhabitable unit as she further claimed she needed money for.  For rent?  Landlord again can't charge for a flooded unit.  The two attorney's who were representing her - one was paid for by the Cupcake Girls and the other was donated by the producers of the show.

ASKING FOR A DRIVERS LICENSE
I supposedly "asked for a drivers license" which one "doesn't do to a 12 step member".  Okay Kamylla never asked to be a member.  She never asked me for help with her recovery.  She never attended any meetings.  In fact, she didn't ask me one darn thing about our program which does offer anonymity.  Meaning I've never asked someone calling for help, or a member of SWA, for a copy of their identification.

However, I double checked everything about her story after she supposedly was attacking me online shortly after the phone call.  Only when I asked her why she was attacking me right after I had agreed to help her - she told me it wasn't her.  She said she had signed a confidentiality agreement and a model release for other people to post as her online.  She said she had no computer and no internet connection.  When I sent her screen shots of the nasty things she was saying about me online supposedly she said it wasn't her.  She was then told to "shut up" or she'd not get the money from her fund raiser.

This "other Kamylla" She claimed to have been filmed on "8 Minutes" yet her face never aired.  No reporter could produce a copy of the contract which she'd have with Relativity Media as having done the show.  SHE couldn't produce a copy of the contract or any documentation to prove she was ever on the show as claimed.  The HR Dept. of Relativity Media refused to confirm she was ever filmed for the show.

Kamylla claims she was in Kathryn Griffin-Townsend's program for prostitutes in Houston during 2015.  Only Kathryn wasn't running that program in 2015.  The Houston jail said she was not running meetings for prostitutes in 2015.  Said she hadn't in a year.  The voice on this tape of "Kamylla" and Maxine is NOT the voice of the woman who called me saying she was "Kamylla".  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uay1XfSzwU

The voice on this tape however is the same voice of a woman who has called me repeatedly posing as someone in need of help to try and scout out information on our program and supporters from me.  She's asked who our attorney is that helps our members, where our meetings are, can she get a phone number of other members, how many members do we have, etc.

So when someone is posing as someone else, spreading lies about me online, and there's no backing to her story she was even on the show, nor was she arrested, being evicted, nor even attended Kathryn's diversion program, and in fact I found further down the line hidden undercover tapes and videos made of Kathryn inside of events she's held which was clearly hidden, then posted without Kathryn's consent, and also posing as someone wanting to come to one of our meetings, know more about our program, and calling over and over again using a different name each time - then yes I'm going to say I won't believe she is who she says she is until I see an ID card.  BIG DIFF from "asking members to show an ID card to get help".

There's also one other BIG FLAW with their comparing us to AA.  Alcoholism and drinking IS NOT ILLEGAL.  Prostitution is.  So NO we are NOT going to "run our program like AA".  Sex work is not a disease.  So again why would it be the same as AA when it's not a disease and the recovery process for them is different than for us.  Example - they get sober by being sober.  We however quit prostitution and then how do we pay the rent? Meaning usually we have to plan our retirement and can't just "cold turkey" it.  So the issue isn't the same, the recovery isn't the same so yes to our program IS going to be DIFFERENT.  We don't pass the basket and give away our book so clearly yes we are DIFFERENT than AA.

STALKING AND HARASSING THESE PEOPLE
Okay, who set up a website attacking who first?  Me?  Or them?  Now wouldn't anyone have a response to such a thing?  If you had a legal obligation to a group you run to serve people with "cease and desist" orders, or notices they were violating your common law trademarks and copyrights along with such false statements as you not being a nonprofit - would you not respond even though that response was "unsolicited"?

When someone violates the law, then you have to serve them with a legal notice, yes you are contacting them "unsolicited" and yes you are "threatening them".  Now if these people want to do things without giving legal notice that's their right.  But the law requires before serving anyone with a legal complaint you have to give them a five day notice under which they have those five days to breach the problem.   Then if they don't respond - then you can file a legal action but you have to serve the five day immediately to protect their legal rights.  Legal notice and "threats" are two different things.  If they didn't want to hear from me WHY POST WEBSITES then about me?

THE PURPOSE?
Shawnee Hunt has had a problem with me ever since 2007 when I refuse to get up at our press conference calling to "abolish prostitution".  When I also refused to say "all prostitution is rape" and there's "no such thing as the sex industry".  How can I say there is no sex industry when there is?  I mean how much money is Vivid making off the Kim Kardashian sex tape?  How much money is Spearmint Rhino making nationwide?  Playboy?  Hustler?  Adam & Eve?

The Hunt Alternative Foundation awarded grant money to the Denver Arts Council who then in turn donated money to the "Red Hand Studio" owned by Domina Elle.  Domina Elle is the woman who set up both sites involved here after the grant money was received.   Every person who receives grant money from Hunt whether it's through "End Demand" or "Hunt Alternatives" is told they can't have anything to do with our program.

Why?  Because we won't call our program "trafficking victims anonymous" and stand behind her views as stated above.

I also know Relativity Media, the producers of "8 Minutes" were pretty angry when my "notice of intent to sue for defamation" resulted in the show being cancelled by the next morning after only 2 episodes.  Prompting their investors to call them "con artists" and file a lawsuit against them for a lot of money.  In fact, Relativity Media filed for bankruptcy just a short time after the show canceled.  So yeah, there are some pissed off people at us back in May of 2015.  You can see the results.

But I ask you - DO YOU SEE ONE COMPLAINT ON HERE ANYWHERE FROM A MEMBER?

Here's a member in their voice:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_TD_X3uOiA

SO ARE OUR MEMBERS UNHAPPY WITH US?

Compare this to the complaints against Obama or Paypal and I think we're doing pretty good here.  If you have any questions about the rest of their accusations - I'd be happy to address them with you.  Just give us a call at (702) 488-1127.

We had to change our number when the women connected with those attack hate sites kept text bombing and otherwise jamming up our hotline phone so legit calls couldn't get through.

Oh and by the way, we just started another meeting in Wichita, Kansas this week.  I am not at every meeting everywhere in the world.  I also never said I was "perfect".  I'm no different than any other member of any other 12 step program meaning you shouldn't not pursue your own recovery because of what someone said about another person.  Make up your own mind.  Honestly, if I was what these sites claim - I'm sure the media would have reported on it by now, a lawsuit would have been filed, something would be registered long before 2015 and not since.

The women who set up these sites are active sex workers.  Now I ask you - what other type of site than a hateful attack site would be set up by drinking alcoholics about Bill Wilson and AA?

I appreciate the compliment.  I don't see the same about people like Kevin Brown who was the man supposedly rescuing women in "8 Minutes".  I don't see the same about the Cupcake Girls who has yet to produce one single "success story" of getting someone out of the sex industry.  I don't see any such against the Hunt Alternatives Foundation who granted Alameda County $80,000 who has been using that money to bust johns and prostitutes nightly according to their Twitter.  Nor against Joohoon David Lee who worked with Homeland Security and was trafficking women.  How about Chris Butler who was trafficking women using active duty cops to help him?   Or the LAPD cops who were raping women who were prostitutes?  How about the NY cop who was pimping 10 women against their will?

BUT I WARRANT THIS MUCH HATE?  Again, what else would a drinking alcoholic say about Bill Wilson and AA?

So I do thank them for the compliment.

By the way, our program is the only one which if you are convicted of prostitution you can ask the judge to court order you to our meetings instead of jail - or alternative sentencing.  Even community service.  You don't have to hire a lawyer or go into a religious or drug program to avoid jail.  We can also help you expunge your records when your time is up.   We provide a 24/7 hotline answered by someone in recovery to help with anything you need help with when you're over 18 years old.

NOW WHAT ARE THEY DOING TO HELP SEX WORKERS SO MUCH?

Warn you about me?

I'm not the on setting up hate sites against other people and sending people to their house.

You're smart.  You can figure out what's up here.  There's no "privacy policy" on either site.  They capture your IP information and also attach a cookie to every site that goes to those sites.  What a clever way to obtain mirror traffic information on who is contacting our program.  So if you've gone there and don't want anyone knowing you're calling us for help - just call us or put an "anonymizer" on your browser.

Dear Sirs:

When I found out Thrifty was choosing to auction off the car I rented to someone unsuspecting it had 3 recalls instead of either repairing the car, which is free to do by the way, or even choosing to donate it to our 501c3 nonprofit  I was offering to do in order to change this situation into something positive, I felt compelled to alert you to the whole picture of what’s going on here.

Please allow me first to introduce myself.  I am the founder of the modern day sex trafficking movement.  In 1984, I created the first “safe house” for adult victims out of an old warehouse.  I got arrested after an angry pimp claimed to the police I was running a brothel (you can see clips about this at www.hightechmadam.com).

Deciding to try another approach – in 1987 I created the first hotline which Polaris is modeled after, along with the first 12 step group, and alternative sentencing program, which for the first time treated these women like victims instead of criminals.  After “raising awareness” this was in fact a real issue affecting Americans  in modern times – we saw the Trafficking Act of 2000 passed.

Today I still run our survivor-answered hotline and Sex Workers Anonymous.   We are still the only program in existence who works with adults who are male or female, as well as the LGBT community and transgenders.  Something I understand your companies are very supportive of helping.  If you look at any of the safe houses and programs now run by groups such as the Salvation Army or Catholic Charities – you’ll find they exclude men, transgenders, and the LGBT community.  Not one of them will accept a transgender for example.   Our hotline to date has answered five times more calls than Polaris’ National Trafficking Hotline.

Because of a stroke brought on by stress, I’m currently disabled and thus not working.  On top of this, my daughter has a brain tumor.  In order to get her better medical care – I relocated us to Los Angeles.  However, our work in Nevada is also unique in that we are also the only program who helps women leave the legal brothels of Nevada this forces me to keep returning to Nevada often.   There are no cabs or buses in these small rural areas where the brothels operate.  There’s also a “curfew” law which prevents them from leaving the brothel on foot.  Since most of these women are dropped off by their pimps  – the only way for them to leave in most cases is if I go and physically pick them up in my car.

On April 12, 2016, I received a call from a woman in distress.  She needed to be picked up and relocated to safety away from her pimp.  My car, a 1994 Toyota Tercel I bought for $800 was in bad need of repairs I couldn’t afford.  Again because I’m trying to do this work while on a fixed income.  I have no time for fund raisers because our hotline is constantly ringing with calls needing help NOW.

It seemed cheaper for me to rent a car for what I thought was going to be a few days to go get her than to do these repairs.  I couldn’t say no.  Going online, I found most car rentals for a week were quite pricey.  I managed to find a good deal at Thrifty Car Rental.  However, to get that deal I was told I had to go to the LAX terminal.  Since I was having to pay a cab to take me there – I asked if I couldn’t get the same rate on a car at a valley branch which was closer to me.  I was told “no”.  By the way, because I’m still a Nevada resident, and because of answering the hotline, I record all my calls.  Nevada is a “one party consent” state.   This means I’ve got a tape of every call I’ve made discussed in this letter.

I had seen the news about the pledge all of the major companies signed to not rent recalled cars.  Because of this I thought I was renting a good solid safe car.  I also thought this might allow me to pick up some extra work driving for Uber.  I put a lot of miles on a car, and needed to also find work.  Not easy with my limitations and situation.  I also couldn’t really afford it, and needing money for my repairs, I justified the expense by thinking I’d use it to get hired with Uber.   I’d also read the news I was allowed to work for Uber in California using a rental car.  So after I picked up my rental, I went over to Uber to get it inspected.  Only to be told I couldn’t because the car had Oregon plates on it for some reason.

Since I was on my way to Nevada that day, I told myself I would try to get the car inspected there.  Yet when I went to the Nevada Uber location – they also refused to inspect me.  When I asked why – they again pointed out the fact I had Oregon plates.  I couldn’t afford to rent with anyone else, especially since I don’t have a credit card, so I thought maybe I could just exchange the car I had with another one with California or Nevada plates.

So I went down to the various lots all day that day looking over the cars for one with those plates.  At no Thrifty location in Nevada could I find one car with either a California or Nevada plate.  When I went to pick up this woman in crisis, we were then trying to get her home before the pimp did.  I got pulled over for speeding in Nevada.

Most cops in Nevada don’t like me very much because I’ve been part of getting a few of them fired for corruption.  I even helped get Joohoon David Lee arrested – a Homeland Security officer, along with Chief Gillispie for corruption.  So when I got pulled over – the officer was looking extra hard for something to arrest me for.  This means he went the extra mile looking for anything to give me a hard time about, and found my rental had recalls on it.

Then he told me he should impound the car and leave me there on the side of the road.  However, we explained the mission I was on and he allowed us to leave with one caveat – to finish what we were doing and then I was to go home and stop driving the car immediately.  He further told me to have the company also tow the car back as it was not safe to be on the road.  I agreed and contacted Thrifty.

Thrifty had reversed my whole deposit of $350 on April 17th.  It was my understanding our agreement was voided then.  The issue now became getting it back to Thrifty.  Then the collection agency told me they had reported the car stolen.  Scared I was going to be arrested – I went online to see if this was true.   I then learned this car had THREE recalls on it – one for the airbags, the second for a coil problem, and the third for a door that swings open because of a faulty latch.

But the issue of working for Uber remained.  Upon contacting them to find out why they wouldn’t accept a car with Oregon plates being I would be hired as a “freelancer”, I was again told I could not work with Oregon plates on the car.  This didn’t make sense to me as I’ve worked as a freelancer for over 20 years now and my understanding is that this means I provide my own tools.  It’s also my understanding if you force me to have specific tools, or purchase them from a specific place, or dictate what tools I use in ANY fashion – then I become an “employee”.  So I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t being allowed to drive for Uber in a perfectly good 2015 Nissan.

“Perfectly good” however seemed to be the key word considering I’d found three recalls on the car when I ran the Carfax on it’s VIN.  The fact this car was recalled was allowing me to understand it better when I was then told that not only could I not drive a car with Oregon plates, but that I could only work for Uber in a rental if I used only a rental obtained from the Long Beach, California Enterprise location.

When I had spoken to Enterprise in Long Beach about why I could only use “certain” cars, this is when she said it was because they had passed “special” safety inspections.  Now with this recall situation being uncovered, NOW I know that this means cars without recalls.  That’s not cool – this means Enterprise is knowingly letting renters have less safety measures in place than their Uber client.

When I realized not only had I been rented a car with three recalls which Thrifty clearly decided to circumvent by registering the car in Oregon rather than repairing these defects, I knew that if I also just returned this car it would be simply re-rented or even sold to some other unsuspecting person.  This meant I had to ask myself if there was some way this could be turned into something positive instead of negative.  Sure I can go and make a report to the Dept. of Transportation who I understand can come out and inspect your cars and issue a $5000 fine for each car found to be improperly there – but maybe there was something else more positive which could come out of this.

A collection agency had contacted me asking to return the car.  I told them I was not going to endanger myself, and others on the road, by driving this car another block.  I told them if they wanted it to just come and pick it up.  But they knew, and I knew, no legitimate towing company is going to come out and tow a car without the proper repossession paperwork.  Something they’re not going to have and create any paper trail.

So I asked them to pass along to your company, Thrifty, an offer I was willing to take the car as a donation for our 501c3.  For this, I could offer them more than a tax-write off but I could also further provide them with a lot of social media exposure about the donation.  During which time I would also promote Thrifty was so remorseful about the whole situation they not only did this wonderful donation to help trafficking victims, but they further promised to go through their whole fleet and make sure this sort of thing didn’t happen again.  I personally thought it was a “win win” idea for everyone.

A few days later however, I was in the shower room where I live (an RV park), and I returned to find someone had come onto my private property without permission, and then taken the car.  They left me no paperwork of where my personal items were either so I could retrieve them which is required by law when a car is being repossessed.  I therefore contacted the collection agency to find out where my personal items were – only to be ignored for 12 full days.

Finally at the end of 12 days of asking to receive no answer – I was told they were at Thrifty’s.  Only Thrifty’s said they didn’t have the car.  I threatened to go to the police and report the car, and my items, stolen.  This in turn got me a message the car had been taken by a guy named “Dave”.  When I googled Dave, he tried to tell me the car, and my items, were at Thrifty’s.  I knew they weren’t.  So I google this “Dave” to find he was an auction house.  I told him I didn’t believe he’d taken it to Thrifty’s and I was going to go to the police if I didn’t get my items back.  He then responded back yes he had my items.

Wondering why everyone was acting so completely ignorant of the law regarding repossessions, and why someone would knowingly drive that car  after I’d told them an officer had told me to get it off the road, and they were to tow the car, along with why I never received any notification of where my items were, no one wants to even tell me where they are, etc. – I then learned neither the collection agency, nor the auction house, have any license in California as a collection agency, a private investigator, nor as a repossession agency.  In other words, they entered onto my private property without consent as a private person, and basically then stole my items along with taking the car, and then further endangered lives by driving the car to the auction house.  Where I believe the car is not only about to be sold – but sold to some other unsuspecting person who doesn’t know the car has three active recalls on it.

Here's where it gets interesting – I had Paypal take $1509.70 out of my account when I had nothing in my account.  Normally when I have no balance and a charge comes in I don’t have the funds for – they will just bounce this charge.  They didn’t bounce it and in fact overdrafted me.  When I contacted them about this – I was told it was an “error” and it would be reversed by the morning.  The next morning however $900 only had been credited.  I called in about this to hear Paypal felt the charge was “legitimate” but they agreed it was “inflated” and “reduced it to an appropriate amount they felt was fair”.  They aren’t a court of law however.  They are a payment processing company.  It’s not their place to “judge” what I pay on bills presented them they should have bounced.   They merely are to say “yes” or “no”.  Not enter into disputes about the “fairness” of the amount and negotiate prices.

I go online to learn I’m not the only one being mishandled by Paypal either.  Seems they just lost a $25 million lawsuit for the same type of thing.  Only I’m not so sure this is some kind of thing happening by mistake or bad training of their staff.  I say that because just a few weeks before this my employer had $1000 taken out of his account and put into my account by “mistake”.  I reversed it of course immediately.  But then another $500 was taken out of his account by mistake also the next day.  I reversed this again.  Only a day after I reversed it again, Thrifty had tried to process a payment through.  It was bounced because I had returned the money to my employer – but I can’t help now but wonder if this wasn’t Paypal trying to take money from him to pay Thrifty in light of what happened next here.

I presented Paypal with the proof it was not only illegal to have rented me the car in the first place BUT A CRIME according to the new law.  I also showed them where I had been credited my deposit back in April which voided our contract out.  Meaning they had no grounds upon which to pay Thrifty a dime  ESPECIALLY in light of my not having funds in the account.  Their response was to then REVERSE their decision ENTIRELY and inform me they were going to in fact now pay Thrifty the FULL $1509!!!

At that point I was speechless but it got better.  Because in front of my eyes the ledger changed to say “hold” instead of credit for the $350.  Now the balance showed it was a credit – but this meant Paypal had changed my ledger to try and support Thrifty’s position?  An hour later I got a call from the DEBT COLLECTION DEPARTMENT.  NOT THE DISPUTE DEPT.  I clarified – they were the debt collection department.  When I asked them why they were calling they said “Thrifty was no longer owed this debt but that I now owed THEM $1509.70 and they wanted to know how I was going to pay THEM”.   By the way, I have saved screenshots showing how my ledger was changed in the middle of this.

I informed them it was THEIR decision to pay Thrifty - not mine and they could eat it.  I also didn’t understand why I’m getting a call on a  debt not an hour old when I’ve been overdrafted for days in the past without one call.  When I let them know I wasn’t going to pay anyone anything on this amount – they decided to “be reasonable” again and said they had “adjusted the amount down to $500 they felt was fair”.  I again responded they had no signed charge slip, no binding valid legal contract, I was not a POS trying to charge this, and  because there was no funds in my account they should have bounced this charge.  Therefore, I’m not paying anyone anything.

This resulted in yet a THIRD change on the amount.  I got another email saying they were now going to charge me $600 they felt was “reasonable” considering I had “possession and use of the car”.  Me having a car sit in my driveway I’m not driving because it’s unsafe, and that I’ve told Thrifty where it is, to come get it, and because they can’t find a tow company willing to tow this car without the right paperwork - is not something I’m going to pay them for.  ESPECIALLY when it was AGAIN A CRIME.

Essentially a crime has been committed here and I now have Paypal trying to force me to pay Thrifty anyway because frankly they know there’s not a court anywhere that would make me pay them a dime for what they did here.  In fact, if I go to an attorney and sue for emotional distress, and the danger they placed my family and myself in – I’d probably come out ahead here with an award.

What I see is everyone is working this racket together.  I know Uber knows about it because that’s why they’re only allowing drivers to use cars provided by one location who is only allowing “special” cars to be used.  This means Enterprise knows it is renting cars to it’s other customers that are not as safe.  Thrifty is knowingly renting recalled cars at special “discounted” rates which is why only certain cars at certain locations are qualifying for those rates.   This is why when caught – they brought in an unlicensed collection agency to come get that car over to an auction house that was wiling to unload it on someone else without putting the legally required notice across the windshield about this car being a recalled one (in this case with 3 recall), rather than repairing the car.  Paypal knew I didn’t have the money to cover this $1500 – so they tried to take $1000 out of my employer’s account.  I beat them to the punch however by returning it before they could put the charge through.   That resulted in another attempt to pull out $500 of his money out probably assuming he wouldn’t notice a smaller amount so quickly.

When this didn’t work to get the amount they wanted – they just decided to throw me into $1500 overdrawn knowing I can’t operate, take orders or donations, or do any business, with such a negative balance.   Then they had their debt collection department transfer Thrifty’s debt to Paypal.  Who then tried to tell me it didn’t “matter anymore if the car rental was legal or not because this was now a Paypal debt I owed”.  When I responded by telling them it was THEIR choice to pay Thrifty and incur that debt, it was not a debt I myself incurred, and therefore wasn’t going to pay them a dime – they’re now trying to negotiate with me for a smaller amount thinking I’ll just cave in to protect my account and credit which in itself is a form of blackmail.  They’ve already taken a hit on a $25 million dollar lawsuit so what’s one more unhappy customer right?  Only they’re trying to force me to pay for something that was a crime – which in my book makes them, and everyone, an accomplice to what’s going on here.  Meaning I should report this to the US Attorney General’s Office as well as Consumer Affairs and the Dept. of Transportation.

I’ve read up on this and if I report this whole thing to the Secretary of Transportation they will come in and audit every car in all of your company’s fleets based on my complaint and issue your respective companies a $5000 fine per car per violation.

I find it hard to believe you’d rather do this, auction off that car for a few bucks, than discuss with me a way to instead donate that car to a worthy cause, get a tax write-off, some good publicity, and save yourself a huge audit, lawsuits, criminal complaints, and related scandal.  Because trust me if they do auction off that car to some unsuspecting person who could die driving that car – I will make sure major media, not just social media, reports on this so that the public knows to do VIN checks on even rental cars in order to protect themselves in the future.    I also don’t think Obama is going to be happy about the pledge your companies signed to not engage in this type of behavior being essentially now nothing more than advertising potential death traps.  Two women have already died remember?

That’s why I’m not sure you guys up there at the top levels of these companies are aware of what’s going on down here at the retail level.  Certainly if there is an audit and a scandal I don’t want you to use that as a defense.  So I’m making you aware of what’s going on in this letter today.

If you’d like to talk about this further before I go to the courts, the press, and the Dept. of Transportation, as well as the banking commission over the way Paypal is acting, and the other related offices such as the Attorney General’s office, then you can reach me at the above phone number.  Thank you for your time and listening to this situation.

Sincerely,

Jody Williams

MORE ON CUPCAKE GIRLS

http://www.pornnewstoday.com/pnt/2015/09/26/cupcake-girls-affiliated-attorney-kristina-wildeveld-defends-ari-scott-bass-physically-abusing-his-wife-he-pimps-on-eros/

I'm not the only one saying the Cupcake Girls is a "front" organization.  That whole show they put on claiming that "women can't get work in Nevada because of their prostitution record" was not only a complete show and untrue - but they KNEW it was untrue being someone working closely with them HAS a prostitution record yet she didn't have any problem at all finding work, and union work at that.
So why?  Simple.  The ONLY thing you can't get in Nevada with a prostitution record is A PROSTITUTION LICENSE to work at the legal brothels.

Well now thanks to Cupcake Girls, you get a signature from the right person, like maybe Bonaventure, and voila!  You got yourself a license.

You also now can't tell your pimp you can't go to work at the legal brothel because of your record.  That excuse goes right out the book and your ass is working at the ranch!

They're also used to launder money.  Need to pay off blackmail money but don't want your accountant to know what it's for?  Cupcake Girls can oblige.  Just as Charlie Sheen.   Need to send money to a hooker or stripper and don't want the IRS or law enforcement to trace?  Need to pay someone for a good snitching out?  Cupcake Girls is happy to put together a sham fund raiser to cover your ass!

I've heard of plenty of active working girls getting money from their fund raisers, but have yet to hear of that money going to help anyone go through the exit process out.  Oh but they help out "anyone unconditionally".  So now you're paying hookers money?  For what?  I assure you active working escorts or strippers in Vegas are more than capable of paying for their dental work.  They claim to use a service by the way that only does dental work for "indigents".  That means like homeless with no jobs - not strippers!  They also report having not one referral from Cupcake Girls.

Oh but the AVN cares so much about their women they have a whole hospitality suite for them at the AVN.

Yeah and that's why they canceled on the domestic violence hospitality suite at the same time 9 women were appearing on the same stage with James Deen while alleging he had raped them.  They were also threatening his victims with break of contract if for example women like Stoya didn't actually stand next to him and present.

Real caring dudes!

LETTER TO DAN SCHULMAN OF PAYPAL

I posted this under Dan Schulman's page here as a comment to reach him since he has no way to message him directly:

Which isn't going to last long with what you're company has been up to lately. We have the class action lawsuit for $25 million you lost for improperly handling people's accounts. http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2015/05/19/pay-pal-cfpb-penalties/27579087/ Then there's the news that hit CBS you're forcing people to pay for stolen items. http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2016/03/28/paypal-accused-of-favoring-buyers-in-class-action-lawsuit/ And now we have Hertz Car Rental and your strong arming people to pay for their lives being knowingly endangered.
On April 12, 2016, I rented a car from Thrifty Car rental who now belongs to Hertz. This was after a law was passed making it a CRIME to rent out a recalled car because of two deaths in an Enterprise recalled car AND a pledge was signed by these companies to Obama not to do such a thing. Thinking I'd be safe - I rented a car which unknown to me had THREE SEPARATE RECALLS for life threatening issues. One being I could even fall out of the car from the door opening while driving.
I was lucky enough to be pulled over for speeding when the cop informed me of the recall. He told me he should impound the car, but because I'm disabled he told me to drive home and park the car. The company then voided my deposit and contract so I wouldn't sue them on April 17th. Then they kept asking me to drive the car to them because they couldn't get a tow company to tow it. Why? Because they knew about the 3 recalls, they had registered the car in Oregon. Without proper registration, no insurance, and the recalls no towing company would pick up the car. They finally came to get the car by someone driving it off who entered my private proeprty without asking my consent to pick it up (I had told them just to ask me for the keys), when your company, Paypal overdrafts my account by $1500. The renting of this car to me was a CRIME. I had a carfax on that car showing the recalls and that repairs had not been done on the car. When I first called in - your company said it was a "mistake" and told me I would receive a credit. The next day however a Chelsie tells me that she's going to pay them the full $1500 "because I had the car". I HAD THE CAR BECAUSE IT WASN'T SAFE TO DRIVE. I informed her this act was a crime, and my ledger showed the refunding of the deposit on 4/17/16. Only WITHIN ONE HOUR MY RECORDS WERE ALTERED. The "credit" had transformed into a "hold". But guess what? I have been seeing you guys act like this lately so I have screen shots showing you altered my records. Then ONE HOUR LATER I got a call from your DEBT COLLECTION DEPT. claiming that now I owed YOU $1500 and that YOU were now trying to collect $1500 from me. I represented the evidence this car was in recall when I rented it, along with the law showing this was illegal and the screenshot showing I had been refunded my deposit 60 days ago.
Your company's response was to threaten attaching my SSI checks over this. Only the big question is why would you honor that charge in the first place? You bounce all over overdraft's. You are a payment processing company - not my bank, and not my attorney, nor are you an arbitrator. You have no financial power of attorney over me to decide what bills I owe or don't owe. The charge presented came with me not having sufficient funds and should have been rejected. ESPECIALLY with a voided contract, and no signed charge slip and the fact this company violated the law.
But no - they instead now are threatening to attach my SSI income. With all your noise about how much you care about LGBT rights - how about the group who founded the sex trafficking movement itself which is a group I run? How about the fact I've been under attack since the TVRA of 2003, which revised the Trafficking Act of 2000 I GOT PASSED IN THE FIRST PLACE, took and put our group under attack by the Catholic Church who has been trying to shut our group down since 2003 because WE ARE THE ONLY GROUP WHO REACHES OUT TO THE LBGT COMMUNITY OF SEX TRAFFICKING VICTIMS?
You want to talk NC? How about the fact every Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, safe house, program, and outreach REFUSES services to transgenders and the LGBT community (re: Monica Jones), but we who are the only program who does help them are under attack by them?
So I'm sure it's a complete coincidence I'm given a death trap car with 3 recalls that God let me know about before I was hurt through a diligent cop - and then the company even voids the deposit. But then 60 days later I'm being shaken down, and my account to take donations to help victims is frozen, over a CRIME? Then I go online to find this isn't personal. No - you've been acting like you have control over people's money with quite a few people. Favoring the "buyer", i.e., LARGE CORPORATIONS and if you shut us down in the process - all good right?
You want to care about your company bathrooms? That's awesome. But then don't turn around and shut down the account of the only group in the country who works with the LGBT community coming out of sex work and escaping sex trafficking. So what are you going to do about this Dan?
