SHARED HOPE'S PHOTO OF A SURVIVOR IN THEIR PROMOTIONS

I'm concerned about the photo of this woman being posted. http://sharedhope.org/2016/03/04/3-ways-church-helped-free/#comment-44197  When we were trying to convince the world sex trafficking was real - it was at a time when no one believed this was even real.  We had no choice but to come onto camera showing our eyes so people could hear and feel our pain, fear, and sincerity.   It was also the only way to get out information on the only hotline that existed for victims at a time when they couldn't even call the police or they'd be hung up on.  NOW however, w're hearing about these photos leading to stalking, firing, evictions, social shunning, even to old pimps coming back out of the woodwork after they've been released from jail.  Now when a "fake" does it like Samoly Mam - she has nothing to worry about.   But our point has been made.  The Trafficking Act of 2000 was passed.  We now have task forces, new laws, and even programs exist now where one can

MORE OF OUR PREDICTIONS COMING TRUE

http://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2016/01/girl_15_sent_to_prison_for_lur.html First of all, this whole case I doubt would have even happened if not for this "No Such Thing" campaign which was created WITHOUT the involvement of EITHER www.childrenofthenight.org which is the oldest, and largest, program to help prostitutes who are under the age of 18 years old which was founded in 1979 NOR that of www.sexworkersanonymous.com which is the oldest, and largest, program of exited sex workers, and survivors of sex trafficking, in this country, or the world for that matter.  We were created in 1979, have answered over 500,000 phone calls to our hotline as of 2016, our database has over 190,000 members worldwide, and we have chapters in the USA, Canada, and five other countries where sex work is both legal, and illegal, who are over the legal age of consent depending on which state or country you're talking about as each one has different ages. This campaign fir

THE EFFECTS OF "NO SUCH THING"

Garrett: I saw your article http://www.latimes.com/local/california/la-me-adv-foster-overflow-20150301-story.html  and it’s important we stay on this story because there is a huge crisis going on from what I’m seeing and honestly the media seems to be the only way I think something is going to be done about this.   Since I started www.sexworkersanonymous.com back in 1987 – I’ve tried to stick to working with adults (those over 18 years old) with respect to helping them get out of the sex industry.  However, the world is changing and I’m finding that I’m getting increasingly sucked into this issue because really the only difference between a juvenile and an adult is only one day after their birthday.  There was a huge crisis going on back in the late 1970’s.  A lot of kids were winding up on the streets because their parent were on hard drugs.  In the 1960’s the drugs were mostly weak pot, LSD, and a lot of booze – but when cocaine started coming into this country with Iran Co

PHILLY PROSTITUTION SCANDAL - COPY OF LETTER I SENT CRAIG MCCOY TODAY

This is to Craig McCoy about http://articles.philly.com/2015-12-07/news/68812182_1_michael-eakin-supreme-court-emails  I just came across this and wanted to thank you for the story.  I also saw this today too http://www.post-gazette.com/news/state/2016/03/05/Pennsylvania-Attorney-General-Kathleen-Kane-wants-outside-judge-to-preside-over-her-criminal-trial/stories/201603050110   In 1989 I was asked to come to Allentown to help sex trafficking victims in a program that was called the "Program for Female Offenders".  We were highly effective.  By 1990, we had cleared 2,000 prostitutes out of the womens' jail who never were arrested again despite all being heavy "repeat offenders".  The hotline I founded in 1997 www.sexworkersanonymous.com was done so because our kind CAN'T call the police for help when trafficked. Why?  Because men like Eliot Spitzer are too busy covering their ass.  Sure to up their numbers and look good for the press he'd throw a comp

JUST LIKE WE PREDICTED

http://www.inforum.com/news/3978902-court-deems-sex-trafficking-case-possibly-fictitious-st-paul-cop-faces-review By this movement being hijacked the way it's been by those insisting that only those who fit within tiny tiny little niches are those "worthy" of help, and by grants that are only going out to those who show a certain number of cases also fitting into these tiny little guidelines - THIS is the result.  We made predictions this was going to be the result of this madness - and here's one we only know about.  I already assure you there are many many more and the problem is that many innocent people are also being charged with "trafficking" in order for people to hit these numbers and cash those checks. This issue can't be taken out of it's context.  These new laws and these new grants have got everyone trying to make things fit into where they don't fit because these lines of distinction don't exist except in rare cases.  There i

SUBMISSION OF AN OPINION PIECE WE MADE TO THE GUARDIAN TODAY

To: david.shariatmadari@theguardian.com From: jodywilliams@hotmail.com Subject: OPINION ON SEX TRAFFICKING Date: Sat, 5 Mar 2016 07:29:11 -0800 Dear David: Below is an opinion on the subject if you’d be interested in publishing in response to Julie Bindel’s opinion. http://www.theguardian.com/profile/juliebindel    As the founder of the modern sex trafficking movement in the USA – I think I have the right to spout my view on the subject more than she does.  I’ve not only answered over 500,000 phone calls on our hotline since 1987 according to our phone records, but our program, www.sexworkersanonymous.com , has chapters all over the world now including where the sex industry is both legal, illegal and decriminalized.  We literally wrote the book on recovery for our program “Sold Out” available on LuLu, but we are the oldest, and largest, program of not only survivors of sex trafficking, but ex-members of the sex industry in many forms, both male, female and transgender.
