COPY OF LETTER I SENT RACHEL THOMAS OF SOWERS EDUCATIONAL GROUP

Rachel:

You say it saddens you to "see such discord among survivors and allies".

Okay.  So what are you doing about it?

I started the first hotline for this community in 1987 in the country, the world for that matter.  I did so after five years of exhaustive research for someone else to be doing it other than me before realizing "well if someone else isn't going to do anything then I guess I'm someone else".

Let me ask you this:

When have I been invited to attend any events on this subject as a guest?

When have I even been notified of events on this subject?

When have I been asked to speak at any of these events?

We're not talking "discord" here Rachel.  What's happening here is historical and history has a way of repeating itself.

Bill Wilson started Alcoholics Anonymous at a time when the world didn't believe alcoholism was a disease.  At a time when the condition was 100 percent fatal.  The way the world treated it was to ignore it, hide it, and shame and criminalize those who suffered from it.  Prohibition was created partly to try and stop these men who would get paid on Friday afternoon, and before they'd make it home that night the checks for rent and food for their families had been drunk away.  Then there'd be the drunken fight, and domestic violence with women and children cast into the streets homeless.

Society didn't understand it as a disease so they tried to make it illegal in the hopes it would stop this behavior.

After Bill started onto not only the program which was the first one to produce long term sobriety, but further led to the recognition some had a disease - a whole field of study sprouted up to address this new disease of alcoholism.

At about 20 years of age - AA "blacklisted" Bill Wilson.  He was cast out of writing the Grapevine.  Further, banned from speaking at conventions, even meetings.  The character assassinations started in order to take the program from being "Bill's" to being "ours" as the medical, scientific, and legal communities started wanting in on the action.  Sober living homes, alcohol treatment centers, alcoholism counselors, schools teaching about alcoholism, medical research into alcoholism - all started to sprout up - including a complete transformation of our whole legal and political system.

Politicians who had built their whole platform on Prohibition had to recreate themselves.  Small town jails who paid the light bill by putting drunks in over the weekend had to find new sources to fill up those beds.  Courts for drunk and disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace had to find new defendants.   Teams of police who used to look for speakeasy's and bootleggers to arrest had to find new criminals to pursue.   Churches who used to get most of their donations from coming into town and getting the drunks to sign "pledges" had to find a new cause to create.

The addict replaced the system.  Delete the word "alcohol" and insert the word "drugs" and the system goes right on functioning only now the new "cause" is drugs.  As more and more addicts started getting clean in AA however, the awareness they shared a disease also soon led to Jimmy Kinnon founding Narcotics Anonymous.

Only Prohibition had been lifted the year AA was formed.  Yet drugs were still illegal when Jimmy started NA.  So police were actually arresting addicts for coming to meetings to get clean.  The National Council on Drug Addiction was formed to create the same reforms for their disease that had been given the alcoholic.

Then about 20 years into creating clean addicts - the same people who "monetized" the treatment of alcoholism came knocking on Jimmy's door.  Only he'd seen what this had done to the alcoholic.  So he fought back and refused to help them create the same changes.  Didn't matter though as the Board of Directors and Trustees in NA had an illegal meeting and illegally locked Jimmy out of his own office.

But like Bill Wilson, Jimmy had his supporters.  To fully cast him out of the house he created the same thing had to be done to him which was done to Bill - he had to not only be smeared and ostracized from his own creation but further his supporters had to be chased out of any positions of power.  In AA, this split created the "Ohio Group" who broke away from the NY General Office.   In NA, it led to what's been dubbed "The Tradition Wars".  Anyone in Jimmy's sponsorship family, or who supported his views against professional treatment or drug courts for the addict - was literally pushed out of service, the rooms, and some were even physically driven out of meetings with violence.  To be replaced with people who wanted to support the creation of treatment programs who charged $10,000 a week for treatment - some even promising to "cure" addiction now.

Before I created our 12 step program, out of which came Brenda Myers-Powell, we had become the replacement fodder for this "machine".  As now both addicts and alcoholics were now being given special courts which recognized these were not criminals, but instead "sick" people needing "help" and "treatment", jails were being cleared out.  Church donations were going down.  Politicians weren't able to "crack down on drugs" in the same way.

There's a machine in this country that depends on someone to target to function.  First it was the alcoholic, then the addict.  For a short time, this system tried to turn onto sex offenders.  Only it hit a big snag in that most sexual predators, child molesters, rapists, etc. ARE the system.  They ARE the church, the politicians, professors, doctors, lawyers, judges, etc.  I know because I was there when this blip started to get off the ground - and then was quickly shut under because it was the same people running this system who didn't want to subject themselves, nor their associates who also covered for them, to this system their jobs and paychecks depended upon.

No - we needed to find a new victim to throw into this machine.  So the "prostitute" was targeted.  Soon buses were going out weekly doing "sweeps" to drag 100's of prostitutes into the jails for booking.  Courtrooms were churning out women handing over fines weekly.  Defense lawyers were getting huge retainers from women afraid of losing their kids because of the prostitution charge.   Jails had beds to fill and all the addicts and alcoholics were now being replaced with prostitutes.  When I did a survey in 1987 of a jail in Los Angeles, and Allentown, PA - out of 2000 inmates 1800 of them were prostitutes.  All of them were repeat offenders.

Churches used to organize campaigns to "clean up their town" identical to the ones that used to go out shutting down speakeasy's and crack houses.    Neighborhood Watch along with parents groups and church groups would go out and drive prostitutes "out of their backyard" like they were cockroaches.

Alcoholics had Betty Ford.  She proved that "anyone", even someone "decent" could be an alcoholic.  George W. Bush used cocaine and even Clinton joked about smoking weed.  So the addict had their "respectable" poster child.  Anyone knows the Catholic Church is chock full of priests who are child molesters - but they're also "respectable decent" people.

Who is left to push around, throw into jail, put on probation, force onto a counselors, couch, slap on medications, and treat like a "scourge that needs to be stamped out of our neighborhoods" but the "prostitute"?  Then throw into the mix that those same judges, attorney's, politicians, etc., who are seeking for a way to have power over these women so they can force them into sex can further gain that power by making sure prostitution is illegal - and you've found the new "criminal" this country is going to focus on "cracking down on".

Only God had a different idea and HIV/AIDS started raging.  Suddenly, those jails, courtrooms, hospitals, counselors, homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters, drug treatment centers, and churches didn't want these anywhere within 100 miles of their doorstep.

Along comes this 12 step program who says "give them to us".  By the year 2000 - we not only saw the Trafficking Act of 2000 pass giving us federal recognition that not all of us were "criminals" but some were actually "victims", which is about the same as giving us a "disease" like the alcoholic/addict, but we were being used as an "alternative to incarceration" in every major city of the USA, and three cities in Canada.  Our hotline was the only one where you'd call if you wanted help to leave any part of the sex industry, as well as the one any reporter would call if working on a story, or film maker working on a project on the subject.

We had no "discord" or "lack of unity" when the system WANTED us Rachel.  But soon we were creating a system which actually worked to get people out of the sex industry.  The pharmaceutical companies came up with a drug cocktail that was putting HIV/AIDS under control.

"For profit" prisons started sprouting up like wildfire.  They had beds which needed to be filled.  All that money spent on HIV/AIDS drugs needed to be paid for.  Anti-depressants were created selling for sometimes $1000 a month.   Drug treatment programs had empty beds which needed patients.  The religious right and the church was losing money.  People were getting bored donating to starving children in Africa.

A new "victim" was needed.  Especially one where most of the men running these systems needed their "fix".  Not about sex.  They could well buy a prostitute.  But about "power".  You can see what I mean with the prosecutor in Michigan who was exposed not long ago of coercing 100's of women literally into sex with him by threatening to throw them in jail.  Now that guy certainly didn't want those women knowing that all they had to do was ask the judge to court order them into a Sex Workers Anonymous meeting.  Jails needed someone in their cells which didn't require months of investigation and a huge budget to create stings or to properly investigate a case.  They needed something quick, cheap and easy they could throw into a jail cell.

The TVRA of 2003 was passed giving the money for these newly recognized victims to solely "faith based groups" who further signed a pledge they would not even "associate" with any group who claimed that the sex industry was in fact an "industry".  Unless the group stated that "prostitution" was a "human rights violation" - no money for you today.

The movement we had created, just like how Bill Wilson created his movement for the alcoholic, and Jimmy for the addict, but the one we'd created to create help for men and women to exit the sex industry, and to provide services for those who were trafficked, as well as victimized while in that profession, was now official "hijacked" by the same people - the church, politicians, courts, doctors, lawyers, etc.

They came to me Rachel and asked me if I'd go along with spreading their "message" which isn't ours.  As a 12 step program however, we can't "express an opinion on outside issues".  So to take a stance that "prostitution is a human rights violation" IS taking a stance.  We can't blame the men who buy our services anymore than AA can blame a brewery, or NA can blame the pharmaceutical companies for their issues.  The very crux of a 12 step program is that the focus is on ME - and not the world, the substance, or whether or not something is "right" or "wrong".  The addict for example doesn't distinguish between a street drug or a legally prescribed drug.  BOTH must be abstained from in order to recover.

Meaning we also have to abstain from all "legal" forms of the sex industry.  Which include such things as legal brothels, webcam performing, pornography, even strip club work.  Only guess what the politicians, jails, lawyers, and the church want to focus on?  ILLEGAL STREET prostitution.  For example, Polaris has gone after Rhode Island prostitution which was decriminalized but hasn't TOUCHED the issue of the legal brothels and sex clubs in Nevada.   In fact, you haven't seen one organized raid for "sex trafficking victims" in a legal brothel or sex club of Nevada.  Let alone a porn set or webcam studio.

Oh no - we can't talk about the "industry" of the "sex industry" but only about "prostitution" or we lose all that wonderful federal grant money, as well as the checks being written by the Catholic Bishops.

So Rachel there's no "discord" here.  There are powerful, wealthy factions who are DELIBERATELY SILENCING AND OSTRACIZING US.

Why?  Because if they do treat us as this being what it is - the "sex industry" then it becomes open for discussion that the REASON why it's workers are being so easily victimized isn't because of the "traffickers", but because it's (1) illegal, and (2) not unionized.  Meaning our message as it is calls for decriminalization of prostitution so that witnesses and evidence can be easily obtained to prosecute traffickers.  Decriminalizing prostitution does the same thing for the sex industry that ending Prohibition did to the power men like Al Capone had as well as the wealth generated by alcohol and drugs being illegal.  In other words, the traffickers themselves don't want to see this industry decriminalized because then look at all the power and money they LOSE.

The reason why traffickers flourish in the sex industry is because it's not unionized.  There's a Brothels Owners Assocation in Nevada - do you see the workers have a union, advocate, lobbyist etc.?  Let me ask you something - when's the last time you saw a woman who works at one of the NV legal brothels giving an interview to the press WITHOUT Dennis Hof sitting right by her side?

APAC had James Deen as it's director.  A man accused of now raping over 9 women in the industry.  Who did the AVN back up when Stoya said she didn't want to stand next to him on stage to present an award the same year she'd been raped by him according to her?  HIM.  Who, what group, what advocate, what association, protested this on her behalf?

There's a Gentlemens' Club Association - but yet strippers aren't unionized.  So take a good look around at what associations do exist in the USA - and they eacn and every one are on the side of the MEN, the owners, the corporations, etc.  NOT ONE  represents the "worker".

Now if you instead of calling these people "sex trafficking victims" and classifying them as "human rights violation victims", you instead DO call the sex industry and "industry" - then those who are being "pimped" and "trafficked" mean that protections need to be set up for them just like exist for farmers, manufacturers, diamond miners, coal miners, even football players and actors.  Even actors have a union so that producers have to pay a set amount of pay and work them only so many hours so that they aren't exploited.  So I ask you then - what's the difference?

Words.

You instead of calling those exploited within the industry the issue - you say there "is no industry" and that "all are victims" guess what discussions you now completely bypass?

Union.

Labor laws.

Decriminalization.

All things brothel owners, porn producers, strip club owners, jails, treatment centers, and the church don't want to hear hear talked about.

Nah - they want us "criminals" and "victims".
I mean what a gig.  I'm now talking to "victims" who were put into this new "system" to "rescue" them.  They're all in section 8 housing next to crack dealers, in minimum wage horrible jobs they have to take or they lose their housing and benefits, they're saddled with $1,000's of dollars in student loans for jobs they can't get because of their past, especially if they have porn online, they're being researched as part of some grant some professor or doctor's getting a lot of money for while they get nothing but poked and prodded on, they're on multiple psychiatric medications that their doctors are getting paid kickbacks to put them on, while the pharmacies are averaging $3,000 a month for their medications, they're paying off fees for classes or diversion to the court, they're seeing some counselor who is getting paid weekly who isn't changing their lives - I mean the "system" is pimping these women in a way that would give Bishop Don Juan lessons in the game!

When we refused to support their agenda, they went to our top members such as Brenda Myers-Powell, and Kathleen Mitchell, just to name two women who had broken their "anonymity at the level of press, radio and films" in order to help us get that federal recognition in the first place when this was a subject NO ONE wanted to support, endorse, or help in any way because who on earth would want to be known as "helping some hookers" as we were known pre-Trafficking Act of 2000, and like Satan to Jesus in the desert - offered them "money, property and prestige" if they'd turn on the program who created them and espouse "other"views.

Why they've given Brenda and Kathleen awards, paintings of themselves, Brenda's even had THREE documentaries made about her which create a very vivid "impression like she's the founder of our program.  Can't get the founder to say and do such things because it's a violation of our Traditions?  Well hell let's get Brenda to do it for x amount of dollars and a film made about her.   That way we can make it appear the program Jody created believes in this even if it's not the truth.

Why use them?  Well don't you know the Nazi's knew well the Jews would cooperate more with walking "nicely" into the showers if another Jew led them that's why.  Even farmers know well the use of a "scapegoat" to get the cow to walk down the chute to it's death.

Because controlling the language is what it's about you know.  No politician, judge, psychiatrist, attorney, celebrity, Fortune 500 company like Microsoft or Amazon, or church leader would DARE help out "sex workers" or "hookers" because that would be just career suicide.  But boy call it "sex trafficking" and you get award dinners, fund raisers, checks written, film projects, and all the "unity" you want.

You also get talks about unions, decriminalization, and labor laws to protect workers.  You also clear out the shelters, the courts, the jails, and the treatment programs.

So you Rachel there's no "discord" among your group.  The "discord" is between your group of people who were involved in that event in any fashion and MYSELF.

Only that's not "discord" Rachel - that's being CUT OUT.

Not at all unlike how the native Americans were sitting here in this country until the white man came along and then acted like they were the vermin who needed to be chased out of their home.  They did it all while saying they were doing it to "civilize" them.  In this movement however, it's called "saving us".

Only let me ask you this - you say you "had nothing to do" with any of that event.  You didn't "pick the film" or have anything to do with organizing it.  Well I certainly didn't either.  Nor did any of the active members of our program who belong to the oldest, and largest, program of survivors in the world.

So who did?  What ex-sex worker, who may, or may not, be a sex trafficking victim, DID have something to do with putting that event together about us?  I mean it was about "us" right".  See not everyone who drinks is an alcoholic.  Not every one who uses drugs is an addict.  Not everyone who has had sex has been molested.  Not everyone who eats has an eating disorder.  Also true is the fact not every person in the sex industry has been pimped and/or trafficked.  Some have been both.  For some of us, our perception of whether we were, or not, changes over time as we grow in our recovery and the drugs clear out of our systems.  As the trauma heals - we often look at things different and our perceptions of whether or not we were in fact "victims" changes just as it does for the alcoholic.  Not every person in an AA meeting had made the admission their an "alcoholic".  Sometimes it takes years for a person to accept they are in fact one.  No different among our members.

But let's call it what it is Rachel.  What's going on here with me is NOT DISCORD.  Let's pick a word that more accurate describes what's going on here.  How about "hijacking" or "ostracizing" or "shunning" or "marginalizing" or even "blacklisting"?  I will call it "blacklisting" because I've asked to be allowed to even attend events like this as a guest and I've been either refused a ticket or straight up told by security at the door I've been "banned from the property".

I'm writing because I am curious though.  For this event about this subject - since I've now asked as many of our local members as I could reach to see if they were involved in any way with the planning of this event and they've said no - I'd like to know how many survivors, ex-sex workers, or whatever word you feel comfortable in deciding to call us since no one is asking us what we want to be called - how many of "us" were actually involved in the planning of this event?  I mean even Brenda - SHE didn't make that film.  Nor was the film produced by Prostitutes Anonymous as she insists on calling us because the people who paid for the film insist upon it even though we changed our name legally in 1995 to Sex Workers Anonymous.  So the producers are even using a name we stopped using because "they" don't agree with our reasons for changing our name so they're just deciding to keep calling us the name they want anyway whether we like it or not.

And whether you had anything to do with the "planning" of it in any way Rachel - you attended.  You supported it.  Now when I've come to you all about having an issue about this - I'm not hearing anyone coming back with any ideas or suggestions on repairing the problem.

Leaving me now in the absence of any offers to resolve this somehow with having to now move forward with legal steps since I don't exactly hear anyone coming to me with any "offers of unity" here.

In other words, I'm not the person causing the "discord" here because it's NOT "discord".  We are being walked all over and exploited and robbed and cheated and one of the things we do in our program is to teach our members to stop letting people do just that - exploit them, cheat them, use them, and basically treat them like they don't mean anything as human beings.

So I came to you to let you know there was a problem here.  I'm not hearing any offers to resolve this "nicely" and "cooperatively".  I've given this plenty of time.  So I will be moving forward with legal action.  You were still a part of this.  And enough is enough.  We're not going to continue to just stand by and have people act like we don't exist.

I'm preparing a report for the new administration when we have a new president and cabinet coming into power about this whole thing.  I need to get this report done before the election so I'm on a bit of a time frame.  So everyone involved will probably start getting legal papers in a few weeks.

Have a nice day Rachel.

MICROSOFT, AMAZON AND SEX TRAFFICKING - WHAT DO THEY HAVE IN COMMON?

http://www.kiro7.com/news/local/microsoft-leader-former-amazon-director-charged-in-prostitution-sting/281281333

How does these guys being "johns" tie into sex trafficking or "promoting prostitution"?

Okay - let's pretend for a moment that you're one of these women being forced to be a prostitute.  You were promised that if you came to this country you were going to be hired to work in a Chinese restaurant.  Now to get into this country on a work visa you have to demonstrate you have a talent or skill that would not replace an American out of that job.  Speaking Mandarin is one of those talents if you're being hired to work in a Chinese restaurant.

You get into this country and you show up at the restaurant.  The owner or manager then has you start delivering orders to the massage parlor or "reflexology" studio next door.  Drive past some massage parlors, or reflexology studios, and tell me if you don't find an Asian restaurant usually within walking distance (along with a nail shop usually).  So you go over there and you meet these women and look around.  Doesn't seem to bad of a set-up right?

Then they do to you probably what was done to me back in my day.  You come into work one day and they tell you they're "short handed" over at the reception desk of the parlor.  They insist you don't have to do "any of that other stuff".  All you have to do is "just answer the phone" or "greet customers and take their money".  That's it.  No harm in that right?

So now you're over at the parlor answering the phone, greeting customers, getting them signed in.  They don't seem like bad fellows.  In fact, they're some pretty nice professional men.  Men like who work at Amazon or Microsoft.  They're intelligent, wealthy, pleasant sort of fellows.  Not some axe welding maniac that you'd think some "john" would be right?  In fact, they seem quite charming.

Then comes the day when they tell you "Hey we're short handed and he's asking for two girls.  Look you don't have to do anything but stand there.  I'll do all the talking but I need this money badly so I need your help with this please.".  And you being a female, let alone an Asian female, you want to help out right?  Well it's not really "prostitution" if you're just standing there right?

You get into that back room and this very nice man starts to hand you $500 and tells you that he just wants you to take your clothes off.  You "don't have to do anything you're uncomfortable with" either - just take your clothes off and the $500 is yours.

That's one very common tactic to ease these women into the game.

But then comes the time to get out.  When I decided to get out - I was a young college girl.  Young college girls usually go and get waitress jobs.  So I quit, walked out and then went to work at a diner down the street.

One night these guys showed up at the diner after the nightclub closed.  They bought breakfast, left a big tip, and then left without any problems.  Only the next day I was fired.  The manager couldn't give me a reason either - just fired me.

I went and got another job.  Three days later I was fired.  Then another job.  Three days later I'm fired.  By the end of three months I had worked at every diner, coffee shop, club, restaurant - I mean you name it and I was fired within a week of working there.

Rents due.  Then what?  Well I remembered I used to get paid good money to answer the phone for the escort service.  Maybe I can get a job "just answering the phone".  So I go and talk to these men asking if I can work for them "just answering the phone".  Sure thing honey and then I'm sucked back in.  I didn't learn for years down the road these men had been going to the owners of these places, telling them they're "burn their place down" if I wasn't fired.  I remember going back to ask one of the owners if this was true and he sheepishly admitted that yes it was true.  Wow.

Why the elaborate scam?  Well we have to convince me it was "my idea" to call them right?  That's why.

But I was dealing with pimps who had degrees in psychology.  Some traffickers aren't so nice.  We now have technology that we didn't have in the 1980's.

When I started getting calls from the victims of this same trafficking ring that just hit the news yesterday from Oxnard - I even found their stories a little fantastic.  I mean just to show their power to make sure you had nowhere to hide - these people can literally turn on the microphone on any computer, any smart phone, OR any "FireTV".

So if I disappear into thin air and these men want to find me, or if I'm hiding out at some "johns" house for safety - these men can literally turn on those microphones and listen in on anything going on in the house and see if they hear my voice.

How does Microsoft fit into this?  Well they operate most home security systems - that's how.  So I want you to imagine these men turn on the FireTV, or computer, or phone, or any microphones they can tap into and they hear my voice.

Now they also own a lot of ADT's by the way.  That's how they get master keys to most homes and apartments.  But if they're tapped into Microsoft - they can also turn off the security alarms.  So they know where you're at and they know the man's name.  So they go up to security and they say they're "there to see John Doe" to the gate security.

Name's not on the list?  That's fine.  The guards know which men have prostitutes coming up regularly so they say they're "there on discrete business" wink wink.  The guard takes a $100 tip for "discretion" and let's them inside.

Then they just waltz into the house and tell the woman it's "time to come home".  That of course is if she had remembered to take the battery out of her phone which would lead them right to her also.

How's a dentist fit into this?  I don't know about John Lui, but I do know the traffickers I was involved with had a group of dentists they worked with.  Why?  Well for one thing they were allowed to keep large amounts of gold without falling under suspicion because they used them for gold fillings.   Fantastic way to smuggle money out of countries like India.  That's one thing we used to organize.  I was asked to have some of my girls fly to India and fly back loaded down with jewelry.  They're wear the jewelry back on the plane which was then laundered into American money.

Another thing we did was organize the shipment of cocaine "legally" into this country.  The group of dentists would then fill out all the proper paperwork to explain that they needed this for their dental practice for anesthetic.

The minute I saw the commercials for "Alexa" along with Oculus - I knew only a "john" could dream this one up.  I mean come on - you partner up with Vivid, you create a 3D interactive porn star of your choice such as Kim Kardashian, then you program it to have a nude Kim taking your orders for socks from Amazon - and what a way to hook a guy on your service right?  Literally even if he's a sex addict.

Oh and by the way - you have to also shut down your "competition".

I knew Dave Elms, the founder of the "Erotic Review".  http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/news/theeroticreviewcom-founder-david-elms-arrested-in-phoenix-suspected-of-trying-to-hire-killer-6634743

ONE WEEK before his arrest in Arizona he called me to do a "rescue".  See Dave HATED sex traffickers and pimps.  How he built the TER was he would go and "personally sample" the services of every "provider" of his site.  This way he got to see their home, get to know them, and get a "feel" for whether or not they were trafficked.

Because he cared so much?  Well yeah in a way.  But for another reason.  I mean would you like to be a "customer" and know that these people would do something like turn on your FireTV to hear what's going on in your home, bribe your gate guards to get past them, turn off your home security system using passcodes, or even enter your home using a master key?

Oh and that's NOTHING compared to what these traffickers do to a guy in their grip.  Take a look at what these people did to Steve Sassa http://jezebel.com/these-sexts-cost-former-hearst-exec-scott-sassa-his-car-471590787 or Donald Burns.  https://www.queerty.com/sean-cody-performer-arrested-for-extortion-outs-john-makes-wild-accusations-from-prison-20150407  These things were not done by "independent" sex workers - but by those who were being trafficked, managed, "handled", or whatever other word you want to call it.

So what he did was this kind of "hands on" research to provide some assurance to his subscribers these girls were "independents".  If he felt a woman wasn't working "independently" - he'd not allow her to advertise on the site.  This is why his subscribers trusted the site so much.

Which is why when he'd come across someone he felt was being trafficked - he would call me.  We did a few rescues together and in fact one week before his arrest after we completed a rescue in Nevada together - he told me he was going to add our program onto his site and ask subscribers to consider donating to us.

I then went to the new owners after Dave's arrest and showed them the emails between us asking if plans were going to keep moving forward to list us as a resource, and also ask for donations and support, of our program now they were taking over the site.  http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/03/04/prostitution-site-cuts-ties-with-founder-after-charges/?_r=0

They refused to return my calls after they saw the emails and realized I was called in by Dave to help when a woman was in trouble.  You go figure out why that was.  They had someone else rescuing women they felt was trafficked?  I wouldn't know but I sure never heard anyone telling me the site had helped them escape anyone.  So who knows their reason.

Welcome to modern sex trafficking.

LETTER I SENT PATRICIA CALLAHAN

Dear Ms. Callahan:

First of all, I can't thank you enough for all you've done to make the work shown in the film, and the film, "Hot Toxic Seat" possible.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJS9FyF_JGI  I feel like you've not only saved my sanity, but even possibly a movement I started back in the 1980's.  I just now was able to sit down with the film and start writing down names of people I need to start reaching out to who not only won't say I'm "crazy" for what I'm about to say, and have witnessed this for themselves, but further this film has given me a blueprint I can now follow from here.

Let me try and explain briefly in a way your film is allowing me to have a language to explain myself finally.  Imagine if someone like the fireman in the film who was trying to expose the fact firemen were dying more of cancer than of fires started the movement to get this recognition for the first time.  Imagine he starts going on national TV and saying this was in fact "true".

Only that was me in 1987 when I went onto the Sally show the first time in my campaign to raise awareness about sex trafficking in America.  I've got clips about this up at www.hightechmadam.com and you can even see the show at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWvD_tmEHPE  A tape I'm lucky to have since my original was destroyed, the original at the ABC studio was destroyed in a "fire", and then I spent months negotiating with NBC to get this copy!  Seems NBC now owns almost all of my original TV appearances actually.

But then the American public lashes back and says "it's not true".  More important, the flame retardant industry lashes back and says he's "hallucinating".  So he then goes out and finds other fireman who have gotten cancer related to not just their job, but behind breathing in these toxic fumes caused by the flame retardants.  Now the flame retardant people think "oh well no one is going to listen to this guy" because "they didn't listen to the last guy who tried to raise awareness" so they kind of ignore him for a long time.

Which also happened to me.  Linda Lovelace had tried to raise awareness about sex trafficking in 1980.  Only she wasn't believed.  Bruce Lee was going to raise awareness with his 1973 "Enter the Dragon".  Only he died three weeks before the film opened.  That left me.  Geraldo Rivera actually told me that "since no one is believing your story - maybe if you bring on people you've saved then we can convince the public it's true".  Only I don't have any of those tapes.  They're not anywhere online and I can't get anyone at his office to answer my requests to obtain copies of the four shows I did with Geraldo.  But I do have a few others such as Donahue which was taped a few months before he was taken off the air.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeG_CO06O2o

Imagine if after one year of trying to raise awareness about this flame retardant issue - the chemical companies try and pass a law requiring all carpeting, clothing, and furniture manufacturers  to use their chemical in order to sell their products in the state of California.   Imagine they spent over $1,000,000 with PR firms to help them pass this law, and even paid  another $1,000,000 to buy a "research study" out of the University of Berkeley to prove that "no one has ever got cancer from these chemicals".  Then imagine that when they're doing press about this law the ONLY person who will step up to oppose them is this one fireman.  Now mind you there's laws on the books at the time saying that no one can go on TV or radio talking about a law about to be passed without the opposition being allowed to voice their opinion as it was the case before the Telecommunications Act of 1995 passed.  Which is the ONLY reason I was allowed on that show at that time - it was the only way Joe could on the air!

Then at the end of the year when voters go to the poll - imagine the chemical company LOSES.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUrAI2Ob4zA  Here's a tape I did opposing Joe Conforte when he did just this to try and get brothels legalized in California in 1988 - just one year after I launched the hotline and 12 step program "Prostitutes Anonymous".  Joe had in fact put up one million dollars to PR firms, and he further bought this study about HIV in his employees which he rigged so it would appear none of them contracted HIV.  He also left out of media appearances he'd paid for the study in the first place when making his claim "no brothel prostitutes contract HIV".

So then 13 years later, this fireman gets federal recognition for this in fact being "real".  For the first time, doctors can now start treating cancer related to flame retardants and billing insurance.  They couldn't bill insurance for this before because supposedly it wasn't "real".

This was the Trafficking Act of 2000.

Up until then, the only prostitutes recognized as "victims" were Chinese women and juveniles who were taken over state lines with the Mann Act of 1910.  Further, no one had been prosecuted under the Mann Act up to the year 2000 except two African American men who had married white women - Chuck Berry and Joe Johnson.

Victim services prior to the year 2000 had refused to offer any payment or assistance to domestic sex trafficking victims because they weren't "federally recognized" as anything but "criminals".  So we actually obtained federal recognition this issue was not only real with this passing, but further it meant money could now be used by our government to help these victims.  Up to that point, money had to be obtained through private donations or paid for by people like us.  I myself had spent over $400,000 of my own money helping victims because there was no such federal money, grant money, etc. available before this Act passed.  You also couldn't hold any fund raisers for it - because again no one thought it was "real" outside of the actual victims before this.

Okay now the flame retardant people realize there's a problem - a big problem.  So they have got to do something about this.  Which your film outlined what they did - a huge campaign about how their chemicals "save children".  Of course making it look like anyone opposing this must "support children being burned alive".  My what an awful person this guy must be to want children to die from a preventable fire right?

But see the last thing they want is REAL firemen talking in the media about this issue.  We've got on the books now that firemen are dying of cancer.  This fireman, and the people he's been working with, all say the source of that cancer is the flame retardant chemicals.  It's now a fact that firemen are getting cancer.  Cats out of the bag there.

So now the chemical companies have to lash back with a huge media campaign that the source of their cancer is not their product - but instead tobacco.  That's a logical assumption right?  They're getting from smoking!

Meaning now you've got to find firemen who will say the source of their cancer is smoking.  What do you do?  Well this little fireman has already got this on the books.  Everyone knows him.  Everyone knows his face.  He started all of this.  He's the "expert in the field" people clearly believe.  So if you can get that fireman to stand up in the press and say his cancer was caused by smoking - then you're off the hook right?

Which is what happened to me in 2007.  Melissa Farley, PhD, came to me and asked me to work in a a report about sex trafficking in Nevada for the State Dept.  She then told me if I helped her with this report  we were going to be given a grant for $300,000, and that an architecture firm in Las Vegas had offered to donate us the building of a center where we could take in victims from all over the world that I could even design.  She even told me that I'd get to meet Gloria Steinhem, Diane Von Fursterberg, and even Prince for God's sake knowing he was my favorite musician!   You can read more about this press conference we gave to release this report at www.hightechmadam.com

Melissa even asked me to bring out my "two best firemen" which was Brenda Myers-Powell and Kathleen Mitchell to support the release of the report "Trafficking in Nevada - Making the Connections".  Only as I'm in a room filled with the press from all over the world, and I'm literally being miked by the sound guy to go up and talk about this report - she asks me to speak what is the equivalent of saying it was smoking that caused our cancer to the press.

I refused.

So Melissa then took the reporters out into the hallway and spoke to them "one on one" saying that this was in fact my view.  Which then led to the release of those articles calling to "outlaw the industry" which was not my words.  Well needless to say, in these terms the "tobacco" industry wouldn't be too happy about me blaming them now would they?  So in fact, I go home from this press conference which has just blamed them for our cancer to find my car has been trashed by men who are owners of tobacco companies in that sense.   Is my beef with them?  No.

But now they got a beef with me.

I even get one of the owners of the largest tobacco companies there is in the world send an employee over to me right after this conference to report that I am now "blacklisted" in any media he owns or controls or buys any advertising with.  That man is Sheldon Adelson who not only is pushing for the legalization of prostitution, but further hates unions (which I support in the sex industry) and also happens to fund a HUGE chunk of the drug treatment world.  Which would be the equivalent of the cancer medical community who treat the firemen's cancer.  Meaning that in one fell swoop - all of the support I'd received up to that point from the drug treatment world was also yanked and turned against me by what Melissa Farley did to me that day.  Which again would be like if in my analogy if all of the cancer treatment community were turned against me while I'm still having firemen with cancer calling me up for help and support.

Can he do this?  Can he "blacklist" me?  Only let's take this back to a time when the Telecommunications Act of 1995 passed and major media is now owned by the corporations.  Further, Fox vs. Snopes now has created a legal precedence where the media can actually fire a reporter such as yourself if they refuse to report something they know is a lie.  I'm going to assume that when you reported on this issue - you didn't have a boss standing over you who owned stock in a flame retardant company telling you if you published anything on this story you'd be fired.  Nor were you dealing with companies such as Relativity Media making films about the so called "truth about firemen" which when you uncover the so called "reality expose" was in fact staged and scripted falsely with actors and staged scenarios - you then go to the FCC who tells you "there's not a law against it".

Well trust me - the "sex industry" has a lot more supporters than the flame retardant chemical industry, as well as lot more CONSUMERS!    http://traffickingandprostitutionservices.blogspot.com/2016/08/the-new-mafia-in-america.html  Companies such as "Live Nation" who actually handles the press for not only Charlie Sheen (a consumer) and Snoop Dogg (a manufacturer), but also for the Pope, as well as  Hearst Media, Facebook, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and the CIA - all who have partnered with, or donated heavily, to Polaris.  Who has now created a "monopoly" against our group.  I certainly can't compete with the people who are funding all grants in field.   Which I can show you documented evidence their support of the push to not only get prostitution legalized in this country, but further how they are being used to attack the "competitors" of where the sex industry is going today.  Or anyone not working for them in other words.

But a problem remains.  How are you going to get any REAL fireman to stand up and say the source of their cancer is smoking and not flame retardant chemicals?

You can't.

But you can hire "fakes".  Welcome to Chong Kim, Stella Marr and then Samoly Mam.  http://www.cnn.com/2014/05/30/world/asia/cambodia-sex-slavery-foundation-hero-resign/

You can also create "influencers" online just like the video game companies use to sell their products.

Only you can't just use "victims" of smoking as your "influencers" in the media.  Not real ones anyway.  No - you've also got to find a doctor who will tell you his whole practice is devoted to helping firemen who get cancer from smoking - not the chemicals.  Welcome to William Hillar who the series "Taken" was based upon claiming to be about "sex trafficking rescue".  https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/man-who-profited-from-fabricated-military-resume-is-sentenced-to-21-months/2011/08/30/gIQAnKHfqJ_story.html

One by one the "fakes" are being exposed.  What do you do?  How are you going to continue to get the public, and the law makers, to believe the firemen are  getting cancer from smoking and not from the chemicals?

Well the next step is to get someone from the tobacco industry to step up and say they are not only doing it - but they further are aware they're doing it.  You need to find yourself some person in the tobacco industry to step up and claim responsibility.  Now here I can't point any fingers openly in the media without risking a defamation suit yet  - but I can point out one person making the equivalent kinds of statements, from an equivalent kind of viewpoint, who I've traced money being given to her by the flame retardant chemical companies.  So you have to ask yourself why would this person in the tobacco industry take money from the flame retardant chemical company when they're out protesting the chemical retardant people at the same time?

See in your film you traced money to groups who were trying to use very clever marketing to push the idea of keeping the use of these chemicals in place. They even used "real" fire victims just as this movement is using so called "real" prostitutes.   I'm not sure however if you traced money to people who were setting up protests of the chemical companies while taking money from the chemical companies.  But I have "followed the money" to just such so called 'opposition" within the sex industry.

It sound counter-intuitive - but when you realize you get more press from opposition and controversy, as well as the human mind WANTS things they are "forbidden" then it does start to make sense.   In fact, this is why the real tobacco companies were doing things like "youth prevention campaigns" back in the 1950's to sell their product to children while claiming at the same time they were trying to stop it.

In fact, I have a lot of information I've been gathering on this issue that I'd like to talk to you about.  I saw in the film how when you were able to put together a series for the Chicago Tribune - and then this whole thing turned around.  That's of course what I'd like to talk to you about.  At least I know you're aware of how this "system" works with these large companies and that gives me a way to communicate these issues at least.  Your film is giving me a road map but our work is complicated further by the fact that many people don't like to talk about the subject of sex.  On top of that, prostitution is illegal in most of this country - further discouraging "real" victims from coming forward and speaking up in the press.   Further, we've got to deal with the people who are involved with the issue of abortion involved in this also to deal with.

Please call me any day you can at (702) 488-1127.  I would appreciate just someone to discuss over strategy with.  Thanks again for what you did. I at least now have a way to explain what I'm seeing happen in our movement to try and address sex trafficking in America.

Thank you.

LETTER I WROTE ARIANNA OF HUFFINGTON POST

Dear Arianna:

I'm preparing a report for the new administration about to be elected about the state of sex trafficking in the USA.  So far, I've been asking the Huffington Post to allow me to print SOMETHING, anything, about the work we're doing on this front.

So far, I've been ignored while you've brought in one after the other after the other of "influencers".  A common trade practice by companies such as Amazon - who just happens to have been arrested for prostitution a few months ago also.
http://www.kiro7.com/news/local/microsoft-leader-former-amazon-director-charged-in-prostitution-sting/281281333

As of this moment, I'll be noting in my report this fact unless you have some explanation for why you continue to allow the views of "influencers" in your publication - but yet refuse to print even one word from this country's oldest, and largest, group of survivors of sex trafficking domestically, Sex Workers Anonymous.  Leaving us with only our blog to post some of our views and cases.  http://traffickingandprostitutionservices.blogspot.com/2016/08/the-new-mafia-in-america.html

Your publication claims to be "LGBT friendly".  However, the groups you do publish articles supporting exclude the LGBT community in one fashion or another.  However, we are the ONLY group working with victims that accepts everyone across the board as members, and our executive board is comprised also of LGBT community members.

In fact, one of the two founders of our 12 step program was a lesbian.  However, I find no such representation within SWOP - who you print article after article supporting their views.  As well Christian groups who refuse to work with the LGBT community, nor admit them in their sex trafficking shelters in any way.

But our voice - you ignore.  Even in your LGBT section of your publication - you ignore us.

So before I go to press - any explanation?

THE NEW MAFIA IN AMERICA

http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-trafficking-ring-20160823-snap-story.html

The "victims aren't cooperating" because they have a few people behind bars.  So what?  A few people who have unlimited resources and attorney's to intimidate prosecutors and all others in prosecuting this case.

They can "lose" witnesses right in the jail for one.  http://abc7.com/news/convicted-deputy-testifies-about-tanakas-tirade-against-fbi/1269065/  Remember Paul Tanaka shot a man down in front of other officers and then got put in charge of his own probe?

Remember they have people in the media claiming "these women aren't being trafficked"?   http://www.huffingtonpost.com/alison-bass/were-sex-workers-caught-u_b_9093678.html  Reports done by the way without once asking our take on the situation as the oldest and largest group of survivors in the country I should add.

Savannah Sly WAS NOT ADVERTISING ON THAT SITE.

Remember they had a guy walking victims right past LAX security?  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/las-vegas/las-vegas-restaurateur-says-former-fed-manufactured-criminal-case-against-him  A man who could actually fake a whole criminal investigation against an innocent family.  I can only imagine what these people would do against a witness that would speak up.

Remember they have cops on the so called "trafficking task forces"?  http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/prostitute-reveals-new-details-bay-area-police-sex-scandal-article-1.2694945

Remember this was going on clear back in 2006?  http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/SAN-MATEO-COUNTY-Two-lawmen-caught-in-raid-of-2563465.php

Remember one of the men behind them was a part of the Chinese government?  http://sinosphere.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/05/29/trial-of-chinese-hotelier-features-accusations-of-prostitution/?_r=0

Remember this goes all the way to NY and even Wichita, Kansas where they threatened to kill a judge and the arresting officer?  https://www.justice.gov/usao-ks/pr/three-charged-sex-trafficking-wichita-massage-parlors

OMG I'm reliving my own case when I had the prosecutor begging me to testify against my traffickers and I kept telling him I'd never make it to a courtroom.  Oh yeah they changed my name to Rene Le Blanc and promised "they'd protect me" but I knew I'd never make it out of the courtroom.  See they forgot to change my mother's name whose case was joined to mine.  So where "Rosemary Williams" was going to court - so too was I.  You can see what I mean at the news clips at www.hightechmadam.com

I "refused to cooperate" to save my ass!  I knew good and well our system wasn't set up to go after and shut down the whole operation and if I "talked" I'd just be dead before my feet could hit the pavement to get out of that jail or courtroom.   Look what a great job they did for Margo Compton - http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/When-Jailbirds-Sing-It-was-the-pure-savagery-of-3018647.php

Five people in jail does not shut down the operation itself behind these people which is the ONLY way they're going to be safe.

Not when this goes all the way up to Homeland Security and the FBI it doesn't.  https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/fbi-employee-pleads-guilty-to-acting-as-agent-of-china/2016/08/01/fbb2da66-57fd-11e6-9aee-8075993d73a2_story.html

THIS IS EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM WE HAD WITH THE MAFIA BACK IN THE 1970'S.  People were denying the mafia existed.  So they'd get some of the lower people on drug charges, traffic tickets, burglary charges, domestic violence, assault, etc.  But the RING ITSELF was being left to operate.  Thus people kept their mouths shut and even denied the "Cosa Nostra" existed.

This is why until Joe Valachi came forward and not only confirmed the mafia was real, but explained how they operated, we didn't create the "racketeering" laws designed to bring down the whole operation.  People also don't realize until Rudolph Guiliani stepped up to create a special task force along with the Knapp Commission which also created Internal Affairs (Serpico), then the mafia was continuing to operate as a machine even if a few got thrown into jail here and there.

Meaning the victims in this case knows the "machine" behind what trafficked and used them is still operating.  The day before this arrest went down - I had Domina Elle hit my Linkedin profile, and someone connected to Maxine Doogan trying to threaten me to take down this blog.  I'm not sure what connection these two have with this - whether they're on the "good" or "bad" side here - but I find the timing quite interesting as being the day before these arrests go down.

But this person was claiming that Maxine Doogan was going around claiming to help prostitutes, only to steal their evidence and threatening them into silence so I'm opting for her being a trojan horse for the "bad" side of this equation.  She was convicted of pimping in 2008.

Anyone who comes after me and threatens me IS NOT on the side of the victims trying to break free of trafficking that's for damn sure.  Where's her phone call offering to help these victims?  Oh that's right she was busy trying to get language taken off the ballot to cut funding to these victims a few years ago  or did anyone miss that part of her history?  https://sfgov.org/elections/sites/default/files/ftp/meetingarchive/ftp/uploadedfiles/elections/Meeting_Information/BSC/Sex%20worker-background__.pdf

If you want to stop sex trafficking in this country - then we've got to stop thinking this is about some street pimp or a hooker on a corner.  This is a very sophisticated operation at work here.  It took a team of people to shut down the mafia and that's what it's going to take now.  These people were operating when I was a victim and the system itself is alive and well today - just rotating people through it like a churn.

This isn't about "prostitution" anymore.  There was once a time when a man could live on a farm and support his family by hunting in the woods and having some chickens running around.  Those days are gone.  Replaced by a "farming industry".  My second marriage was to a man raised by a farmer who held on to his family farm while the banks executed their take-over of "family farms" in the 1990's.   His father even spoke to me about how exactly the banks took over those farms and then changed the whole way food is made and marketed in this country before his death.

Which is one reason why all the bells and whistles have been going off in my mind as I've been watching the "take over of the sex industry" in the almost same identical manner.  If you want to know more about what I mean by this - catch this documentary "Hot Toxic Seat".  It shows IDENTICALLY how they're doing this to the world's "oldest profession" (many people say farming actually is the oldest however).  http://www.hbo.com/documentaries/toxic-hot-seat

NOT ALL SEX WORKERS ARE ALIKE

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-henry-sterry/everything-you-think-you-_1_b_9772910.html

Well it's about time SOMEONE comes forward and backs up the reality of the case of domestic sex trafficking in juveniles - and that's there is no "one" typical type of situation.  There can't be a "cookie cutter" solution because the problem  ISN'T.

ABOUT SEX WORK IN S. AFRICA

http://www.iol.co.za/news/crime-courts/legal-sex-work-a-gift-for-pimps-2059939  In response to this:

Dear Lisa:

I don't know if you remember much about the tobacco industry and how they marketed their products - but for years they disguised a lot of their actions.  Sure they bought research which made it appear their product wasn't "addictive" nor "caused cancer".

But they also used to sponsor "youth prevention campaigns" which were supposed to be about kids not smoking, while in reality cleverly designed to INCREASE the number of kids smoking.  They couldn't roll out ads targeting kids - so instead they "forbid" them which anyone in Psychology 101 is the fastest way to make a kid want something!

The same tactics are at work in the sex industry today.  Many groups are not what they appear to be - and you can't always tell without "following the money" as well as who is leading these groups.

The men who want prostitution legalized so they can control it have set up a lot of "catfish" groups to try and stop countries from decriminalizing it.  I should know as I've been fighting these guys back in Nevada since the 1980's.

If you'd like to talk more about it - I've been doing this work for 30 years now.  I'd love to weigh in on the issues.  I have clips up at www.hightechmadam.com.  Thanks!

2017 State of American Sex Trafficking Handbook

Sex Workers Anonymous (formerly Prostitutes Anonymous)
(702) 488-1127 Direct and (888) 666-1782 Toll Free

Hello:

I’m writing you to set up an interview for inclusion in a report being prepared for 2017 as a handbook on the issue of sex trafficking in America.  As you know, we’re about to have a new President.  Once they’re sworn in, then many new people will be taking office as well.  People who will need a reference guide on this subject.

Up to this point in time, most reports on this issue have been prepared by “non-survivors”.
Bradley Myles, the CEO for Polaris, and Linda Smith, President for Shared Hope, are two fine people running wonderful organizations who have prepared reports on this subject.  However, they’re not survivors of this issue personally.  Nor is Savannah Sly, Director of Sex Workers Outreach Project, even though she is an active sex worker by her account.

Polaris and Shared Hope receive federal grant money, as well as enjoy a large amount of political support.  The Salvation Army and Catholic Charities are two organizations addressing this issue who are Christian “faith based” groups.  SWOP is also fund raising as well as lobbying for political position while also trying to change our laws to suit their agenda.  Some groups even have lobbyists such as the Nevada Brothel Owners Association, while others have paid “influencers” at work daily on social media.  Thus reports from these could potentially be biased.

However, we’re a 12 Step program.  I as the founder am a survivor who has been in recovery since 1985.  As such, we do not receive federal grants, hold any fund raisers nor do we “accept outside donations”.  We also don’t run for political office, nor do we hold any job within this industry.  Therefore, we feel a report on the general state of affairs with respect to the issue of sex trafficking in America to be presented to those coming into office in 2017 is going to be invaluable as well as uniquely insightful.   Especially since it’s being written by someone who has been in this field over a period of 30 years, worked with victims in all 50 states as well as other countries, and someone whose hotline has answered over 500,000 calls as of 2015.

The subjects this report will include the history of the field, a “Who’s Who” (going from Linda Smith, the President and Founder of Shared Hope to Michael Horowitz, the author of the Trafficking Act of 2000), an outline of related legislation in all 50 states, top campaigns (such as “Operation Cross Country”) as well as top scandals (including the Oakland sex scandal), a list of who has received what money from grants and fund raisers (to cover federal and private donations), along with an index of people’s stance and view on this subject.

Which is where I am requesting an interview with you.  Whereas I can go online and find out most politicians’ views on subjects such a global warning listed openly - I can’t find the same index of stance with respect to subjects such as “end demand” or the legalization and/or decriminalization of prostitution.
So I’m requesting literally five minutes of your time to ask a few short questions which will then be included in this report.  Copies of the final report will be published online November 1, 2016, just in time for the election itself.  Then copies will be given to our new President taking office, the new Vice-President, the Supreme Court, the Senate and Congress both federally and state wide, as well as to each state’s Governor, Attorney General and US Attorney’s office.   Major  media outlets such as the Huffington Post, CNN, NBC, LA Times, NY Post, will also be receiving a copy of this report.

Please therefore email me back with a date, time, and phone number, where I might reach you for this interview anytime between now and October 10, 2016.  This can be any day of the week during any time frame of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Please include your email address so that I can send you back a confirmation on this date.  You can send your information to me here:

Fax # (702) 472-8745

With your permission, I’d like to record the interview.  This way the online version of the report can have links to your views in your words so you don’t have to worry about anything being taken out of context, misunderstood, etc.   I can do this via skype or just phone recording.  However, if you prefer not to, that’s fine also.  The important thing is to just get your views noted for this historic report.

What’s also record making about this project will be your consent to be interviewed by a survivor.  To date, I have found no report of this type prepared by a survivor led program, a survivor author/reporter, nor any interviews on the subject granted to a sex trafficking survivor.   An analogy would be if politicians had only granted interviews on womens’ rights to male reporters, male lead groups, and media owned by men.

If you’re working on any upcoming projects, or if you have any events scheduled for 2017, or beyond, with respect to this subject, I’ll be happy to see if there’s some way we can make sure to include some reference to it in the report as well.   I’d like this report to be a “primer” or handbook for new people coming into office on the subject.

We have no professional operator, nor answering service either as we have no budget.   While I welcome your call, please be advised because I answer our hotline until about 4:00 a.m. most days, and because I receive no pay or salary for any work I do in this field, the best time therefore to call me is any day after 3:00 p.m.  This is also why I’m asking you to please just email or fax me the time you’re available for interview, and I’ll confirm.

Thank you very much for your time and attention on this matter.  I hope this is the opening of a long lasting dialogue in the future with your office.

Sincerely,

Jody Williams, Director and Founder

COMBATING THE "PIMP LOBBY"

Hello:

I’m writing about women who have been dubbed the “pimp lobby”.  They include Maxine Doogan, Domina Elle, Bella Robison, Norma Jean Almodovar, Christina Parriera, Meg Munoz, Maggie McNeil, Tara Burns, Gaye Dalton, and Elizabeth Nolan Brown.   I might be missing a few names here.

First let me establish who is writing this letter.  My name is Jody Williams.  For years in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s - I saw there was no solutions for someone like myself, and others, who wanted help to leave any part of the sex industry for ANY reason.  Any reason including if you wanted to leave a pimp or escape a trafficking operation.  Calls to the police were futile because we were the ones considered the “criminals” for one.  For another, there weren’t the laws written to address our situation so without recognition of the problem – solutions didn’t exist yet for us either.   Back then there was no difference between our situation and someone saying they wanted help to “escape aliens abducting them for sexual purposes”.  We were treated identically back then - as simply making up imaginary stories.

I had been looking for solutions because I couldn’t find a way out of my own situation.  I was knee deep in what has now been titled “Iran Contra”.  Meaning I was dealing with low level street criminals and gangsters on one hand, while also dealing with men in levels of high power within our own government who were smuggling cocaine into this country to raise cash to buy guns for the Contra’s.  If you’ve seen the film “Cocaine Cowboys” then you have an idea what I was in the middle of.  I was also being used as a “go between” to get the drug from the pier to the Hollywood parties and into the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

This put me on the front row of witnessing women who were being pimped, sold, trafficked, etc. who also wanted out of their situation.  For this reason, I took an old warehouse I had once used as an illegal brothel and “adult theater” and converted it into what was the first “safe house” for adults.  In 1984, an angry pimp retaliated against us because of a woman we’d rescued by calling the police on me.  I was arrested for being a “pimp” but because I wasn’t doing this the charges were dropped.  This didn’t stop the authorities from taking all of my property, threatening to disbar my attorney, etc.  I also suddenly had a lot of people scared I would “talk” to the police – and many attempts were made on my life then.

However, in 1985 I met Marilyn Chambers.  After Linda Lovelace had escaped her husband slash pimp, Chuck Traynor, he had started “managing” Marilyn.  In reality, Marilyn had been promoted heavily in the adult industry not just for her porn performances, but also to deny Linda’s allegations of sex trafficking existing within the porn industry.  Marilyn had been put on drugs by Chuck, and because of her “notoriety” had no idea how to leave the adult industry.   Her face was clearly recognizable which led to serious discussions about how someone like her could leave the industry entirely, especially now she wanted to stay clean.  We both knew she couldn’t possibly stay clean while making adult films so I watched her progression as she tried not only to stay off drugs – but to further not do adult films.

I was with her as she struggled against making these films.  Rent had to be paid and who was going to hire Marilyn for work other than adult films?  She swore “never to do another adult film” but the industry wasn’t done with her.  Offers kept coming in with higher dollar amounts.  These pimps know well the “frog in hot water method” and assured they could put her in films where she’d be fully clothed.  This way she could pay her bills, make an adult film, but not take her clothes off.  You can see how she made a few films this way while “introducing” other women to do the sex scenes in the film.

So here she is still in the adult industry while not having sex for money, nor even taking her clothes off.  This was NOT “leading a spiritual life” as the 12 steps speak about are necessary for someone to live in order to stay off drugs if you’re an addict for any length of time.  Which is why sure enough – she started doing films after a while topless, then nude but no sex.  Then soon she was right back doing adult films and getting high.  In fact, when she died she had drugs in her system showing she was never able to stay clean for long because of her inability to leave the sex industry as a whole behind.

Watching this, I realized I had to do something still even if I never did put together another “safe house”.  After doing a lot of research, I launched the first hotline in this country for someone in the sex industry (prostitution, porn, stripping, etc.) to call for help to exit for ANY reason.  This included those who were being “forced”.  Please remember we didn’t have the term “sex trafficking” even coined back then so we made no “distinctions” as to WHY they wanted help.   We called ourselves “Prostitutes Anonymous” so those convicted on prostitution charges could have the judge order them to our program as an “alternative to incarceration”.  This was allowed under laws already in place for Alcoholics Anonymous.  This meant we also formed the first alternative sentencing program also.  Our hotline was promoted worldwide – and soon calls were coming in not just from the USA, not just from those involved in illegal prostitution, but from people all over the world engaged in various forms of the sex industry.

As of 2015, our hotline has now answered 500,000 more calls.  This means five times more calls than Polaris has answered.  We have chapters across the USA, as well as five other countries at the moment.  Our chapter in Russia for example is now up to six meetings a week.   The subscribers to our blog numbers at the moment at 90,000.  The contacts in our member database are showing up to be about 190,000 in number.  Our Facebook pages average at least 300 hits a day when you total all of them.  We have members who have been with us continuously since 1987.  A large number of “regulars” have been with us since 1991 – the year we published the first ever book written by ex-sex workers and survivors of sex trafficking, for us about exiting and recovering from this industry.   An “industry” it is being that it encompasses both legal and illegal types of activities which don’t always involve sex for money.

Meaning our program is the OLDEST, and the LARGEST, program of those having exited the industry, or simply having the “desire”.  Like Alcoholics Anonymous, we have members who haven’t fully left the industry yet.  As long as they have the “desire to exit” they’re welcome.  Also like AA, we have members who “relapse” back into the industry.  Meaning at any given moment in time, we have members who have been out of the industry for decades sitting next to those still active in the industry.  Since I answer our hotline personally daily – I’m constantly speaking to people still in some part of the sex industry.

I was a member of COYOTE before I left the industry fully.  This group, Call Off Your Old Tired Ethics, was founded by Margo St. James, another sex worker who was advocating for ALL women to be treated the same whether they were working as secretaries, living as housewives, or active in the sex industry.  I remained good friends with Margo when I launched this program and we in fact worked together during the 1980’s a lot.  Her group was out doing HIV/AIDS outreach and thus when she’d hear of someone wanting help or support to exit – we’d get a phone call immediately.  Her and I were good personal friends in my opinion before her retirement, and handing everyone off to St. James Infirmary.

When Norma Hotaling left the industry in 1989, our program was one of the first people she called.  I couldn’t reveal that while she was alive because we protect our members’ “anonymity”.   Our policy after my arrest in 1984 was to get our members into their own housing immediately.  Not to set up any type of stationary housing.  The reasoning with us was simple – those escaping pimps and/or traffickers needed to be moved around for safety so a stationary house was pointless as well as dangerous.

This is why I was dubbed the “High Tech Madam” when I was arrested – because of all of the security equipment I had installed in the place for protection.  For others, living off people had been our glass of wine to the alcoholic.  Therefore, we needed to start providing our own housing using a “legit” income in order to have any “time” in our program.  So we didn’t have any type of housing set up for members.  Norma wanted to set up a residential program and I provided her with materials and support to help her set up meetings of our program in hers.  I’d already been helping other residential programs for women who had been involved in prostitution to work on those issues by then with groups such as the Mary Magdalene Project, Genesis House, Tarzana Treatment Center, the Salvation Army, and others.

When Margo St. James retired, the group Sex Workers Outreach Project soon took it’s place founded by Robin Few.  They were doing a lot of outreach for harm reduction purposes, as well as lobbying to have sex workers get safer working conditions.   Phone calls started coming in from their chapters saying “we’ve got a woman here wanting to leave her pimp” or “we’ve got a trafficking ring operating we need help to get women out of”.   So we were getting a lot of calls from SWOP to come help when needed.

Calls weren’t just coming from them providing referrals.  I personally knew Dave who founded “The Erotic Review”.  This site was created by a “john” who would personally “audition” advertisers.  While the women would complain about having to sleep with the guy to get a listing – that was it’s “brand”.  He was providing “personal reviews” on providers.  Dave told me he was doing this so he could also ferret out any signs of someone being pimped and/or trafficked.  When he would uncover a situation where a woman was being forced to be in this line of work – we’d get a phone call from him about it.

Because I was in the industry myself for years, people within the industry trusted me with a call when they saw someone needing help or something “irregular”.  It was, and is, common for example to have strip club owners call me regularly when they would see a woman being pimped against her will.  Referrals don’t just come from within the sex industry either.  People in the industry routinely use cabs.  I work hard to establish a relationship with cab drivers, and routinely run ads in cab driver “trade” magazines in major cities.   So it’s not uncommon for me to have a cab driver showing up at my door with a woman who had gotten in their cab asking to get away from their pimp.

When the AIM Clinic was first opened to test adult performers for HIV/AIDS – they had a stack of our cards there for their counselors.  When someone would be diagnosed as “positive” – that puts them “out of business” on the spot.  It’s not an easy adjustment and performers would be routinely referred to our program for help.  In fact, many labs, as well as doctors who tend to specialize in sex workers, have a stack of our cards they hand out to someone when they see they’re going to need exit help.

Making us again not only the oldest, and largest, group providing exit help for sex workers, but also meaning that we’d had a long standing relationship working with other groups and professionals within the industry itself who have trusted us enough to provide referrals.  Over the years, we’ve had an independent professor conduct a 10 year study published in “Leaving Prostitution” by professor Sharon Oselin.  This study was done on a group I personally wasn’t even involved with so it was completely objective.  On top of this, we’ve had multiple, independent, reputable, investigative reporters come in and check us out thoroughly from an objective stance.  All of who wrote wonderful things about us.

So you can imagine after years of having these kinds of relationships, I would therefore find it truly “strange” to have the “tides turn” on us as they have lately.  Up until 2007, I had a friendship with Melissa Farley, PhD.  In fact, when she told me she needed my help to conduct a study for a report to the State Dept. on sex trafficking in Nevada – I opened up the books and gave her all of the help I could.   This report was published “Trafficking in Nevada – Making the Connections”.  Meaning when someone wanted to get information from a “reputable” program in the past – they came to us.

The reason why I emphasize this is an INDUSTRY isn’t to “legitimize” it.  But because if you don’t think of it like THEY do – which IS an INDUSTRY  - then you can’t combat them is why we do.   Which is why it’s important to know that when any large industry is afraid of their workers “unionizing” they hire these “consultants” and “influencers”.  These firms who specialize in “union busting” usually start with the hiring of an “influencer”.  The standard practice is to hire an attractive person who then gets hired to work in the company not wanting the workers to go union like they’re a “regular” employee.  They then strike up friendships, even relationships, with other workers where they’re also there to steer private conversations away from the idea of unionizing.  Anyone who is even “leaning” towards unionizing is nipped in the bud before they can gather up any support in the company.

Corporate “espionage” is also very common.  It’s very common for companies like Pepsi to have someone working to feed them information at Coca-Cola.  Many large companies these days are now employing “influencers”.  Ads are run on Craigslist to “rent out” private people’s Facebook pages.  Then these fake people are put into groups to “stack” them.  Anyone then coming in with an opinion they don’t want to be popularized or spread is struck down by what appears to be a “majority” of the group.  In fact, I’ve seen whole groups where every person in it is actually one person controlling many identities.  Thus instead of a “disagreement” between two people – it appears to be one against the majority.  This is to make it appear someone’s viewed are “unpopular” or “not in the majority”.

Hollywood has been using the idea of an “attack” or even “threats” for publicity for ages.  Take a look at Emma Watson.  She was speaking at the UN when a threat was launched with a count down clock ticking even.  The press went crazy about this threat.  Only investigation into it proved it was her own marketing company making the threat.  Why would she essentially threaten herself?  Well ask yourself if you would have even heard of her speech if not for the threat?

Take a real good look at the advertising surrounding the film “50 Shades of Gray”.   If you carefully review the parties involved in organizing the opposition to the film, as well as the press, you see the very same people involved in not only this, but also in just about every single story online about the sex industry and trafficking.  The same names are appearing over and over again in fact.

Now maybe these people are speaking for “us”?  If that’s the case, then where’s our name?  I hate to be obvious but look back in the 1980’s and 90’s and you can see we’re the ones quoted in just about every article on the subject.  Not ME – but different members of our group presenting THEIR opinions.  Now you can look at ANY article on the subject and it’s the same names over and over again.  At the same time, anyone who has a different opinion than them are being not only shunned and silenced, but outright threatened, stalked, cyber-bulled, smeared, marginalized, and some people are reporting even actually harmed. I have been a long standing member of online SWOP groups as one example of what I mean.  I’ve also been a contributor to the blog “Tits N Sass” since they launched in 2007.  However, when what appears to be an organized campaign started up about 2013 to take over being to voice of the sex industry by a group of women – I found myself shut out of all of these groups for absolutely no reason other than these same women pushing the issue.  In fact, one SWOP blog moderator told me straight up she was dropping me because she had received physical threats from these women to do so.

Which I’ve seen being played out since Bob Herbert reported he was threatened with a “baseball bat to the head” for simply publishing an interview with me in the NY Post.  The reporter who reported he was threatened – was fired the week after the story ran.  I have now collected a long list of reporters, blog writers, group moderators, and publishers who have told me they can’t publish anything with my name on it “or else” they’ve been threatened in some fashion by this same group of women.  Reporters who have gone against the grain and published something with my name anyway – have in fact been immediately fired for their trouble.

Starting in 2013, our group also started becoming the subject of direct attacks.  The goal has been to not only break us up, scare off our members, shut down our meetings, but to further make it appear we don’t even exist.  Anyone who used to list us on their Facebook  they were a member of SWA, was reporting  they were being threatened.  If they refused to take down noting they belonged to SWA on their profiles, their pages were being subjected to false complaints and shut down for “violation of terms of service”.  Comments mentioning us were reported and deleted.  I can’t even place an ad for us on Backpage or Craigslist without it being flagged literally within 60 seconds no matter what time of day it’s posted.  We had to stop “friending” members on Facebook because they were reporting receiving threats, being stalked, bullied, and generally attacked until they dropped mention of us.

I can’t even get booked anymore for a tiny little radio interview without the producer telling me she’s received three phone calls that morning from people “warning” her not to have me on the show for one reason or another.  The thing is – how are people even knowing I was booked to do the show?  The same for “volunteers”.  We started having meetings with potential volunteers, only to have them report before they made it home from the meetings they got a call or email “warning” them away from us.

One treasurer at a church in Las Vegas told me she was pulled into her pastor’s office where she was told they had been told “not to speak to Jody nor to even friend her on Facebook”.  When she asked why – she was told they had been threatened with an IRS audit if they were to include me in any manner with their trafficking efforts.  The whole thing frankly reminded me of when the pimps who had trafficked me were going around to anyone who would hire me as a waitress and threaten to burn down their restaurant if I wasn’t fired in an effort to get me financially desperate enough to come back to them.  In fact, I can’t name one single person who hadn’t at one point listed a friendship, alliance, membership, or support in some fashion for myself, or SWA as a group, who hasn’t reported to me they were threatened, attacked, stalked, etc., non-stop until they dropped all mention of us.

When I started reading how other groups in this field were also finding the same people were organizing protests against their anti-trafficking projects – that’s when I realized I wasn’t wrong and this wasn’t at all personal.  I’ve done extensive investigative work because of this.  I believe there is an organized agenda by traffickers in this country at work here.  I have uncovered a systematic pattern of threatening female politicians, female prosecutors, female attorney general’s, female judges, female police officers, female FBI agents, etc.  On top of targeting females in positions of authority, there’s also reporters and other media people who have been threatened.   This includes even actresses.  For example, for 30 years Frances Nuyen, the actress from Joy Luck Club, has done our public service announcements, and had promised to help us promote some local appearances, as well as narrate a documentary about us a few years ago.  This actress is in her 70’s now and lives alone.  She was threatened into now being afraid to even speak to us – let alone help us with the film or public appearances.

I then turn to find entire groups were set up online to lobby Will Smith against appearing in the film “Concussion” using the same tactics as being used against us.  Now what does the NFL have in common with Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Sheldon Adelson, Vivid Entertainment, and Dennis Hof?

The agenda appears to be clear these people want prostitution legalized in the USA.  Further, they want to ensure the workers don’t “unionize”.  Anyone who is working as an “independent” sex worker, such as those who were working in Rhode Island when prostitution was decriminalized, were the first attacked.  These so called “advocates” are reporting the independent sex workers are afraid this “will force them onto the streets”.  However, the ones I’m speaking to are reporting this is harassment to force them to work for the traffickers.

When I saw a supposed sex worker and member of SWOP in Seattle tell a cop and a reporter that “these women aren’t being trafficked” at the same time I know women on that site who are reporting to me they ARE being trafficked, while also finding my voice being shut out of the conversation – well then it’s clear to me what’s going on here.  Lenin used to say “To control opposition you become it”.  This is when I started digging deeper to uncover that not all of these women are even real sex workers!  I’ve also uncovered documented evidence anyone not agreeing with their opinions are also being silenced and threatened.  In other words, they’re not “representing sex workers voices”.

Not anymore than what was happening with James Deen was.  He had been the president of APAC for a while.  During that time, they organized a panel on “exiting the industry”.  We were blocked from speaking at this event.   It’s now come out in the press he has raped more than one woman, even one  while the film crew not only kept filming, but further applauded when he was done and she had blood everywhere.  I believe this attack was deliberately staged and filmed in order to further stage the complaint against him which led to the fines against the production company.  I believe this whole thing in fact was staged to try and deliberately drive the industry into Nevada where performers have even less protections there than in California.  I later learned the producer is also being threatened into going along with this agenda in fear for his life.

In other words, anyone in competition with Vivid is being attacked.  This “war” is not at all unlike what Al Capone was doing when he was trying to take over control of the bootlegging industry by shutting down anyone not working with us using the media, law enforcement, politicians, etc.  Even Hugh Hefner and Larry Flynt are retreating in fear of these people.  They are also clearly trying to shut down any avenue OUT of the industry.  As Dennis Hof once said to me “he’s invested too much money in recruiting these women to just let them leave that easy”.  There’s talk even Brooke Phillips might have been deliberately murdered because she’d left the ranch, and was setting up a shop in Oklahoma.

I’ve been taught since day one when dealing with people like this – you need to TALK.  Talk about what’s happening to anyone and everyone who will listen.  ALL abusers and predators isolate their victims.  It’s well known pimps will get the women fighting with each other so as not to turn on them.  Nazi’s also have been using someone’s “own kind” to lead them “into the showers” and “on the trains” which is clearly what’s going on with these women who are calling themselves “advocates”.

Which is why I’ve also uncovered that most of the division among our groups has also been orchestrated by them.  For years, I’ve been getting calls that “so and so said this about you” or “so and so attacked you and told me to do this to harm you” and “so and so is on drugs” and other gossip.   I’ve gone back over the people giving me this information – and now see it was also staged by “catfish” fake people.

I’ve also found myself impersonated in many ways.  I’ve caught people telling others online I’m “running an escort service” for example.  I’m not.  However, I’ve then gone onto Google and in fact FOUND someone who had a website up appearing to be an escort service calling themselves “Sex Workers Anonymous”.  I complained and got the site shut down, but the seeds of doubt were planted.  The same with porn – I’ve found porn sites calling themselves by our name which weren’t mine.  There’s interviews online I never gave, websites up I don’t own, and I have found my name all over things online which I’ve had nothing to do with.  One woman insists I was at a conference in Chicago and “cussed her out in front of a group of people”.  Since then people have talked about how I “attack people”.  Only I was never in Chicago.  Now in the cases where I’ve been finding myself impersonated – I’ve been able to track them back to Anne Bissell aka Juliette Chandler in each case.  I showed this woman a photo of Anne and myself and asked her who was the woman who “cussed her out”.  She pointed to Anne.

No.  These women are not what they’re representing themselves to be.  Like any cheater, predator or abuser – they’re also trying to get us to fight with each other so we don’t turn our focus on to them and compare notes.  They’re an organized mob of stalkers and “influencers” hired by traffickers who are trying to control the sex industry using the same tactics used by the NFL, tobacco and alcohol industries over the years.

I also feel they’re trying to provoke us into suing them as individuals.  Here’s why – I watched these same people try and provoke, or actually file, lawsuits against other survivors who try and help others exist such as Monica Foster, Desi Foxx, and Shelley Lubben.  They then used these lawsuits to try and drag these women into the courthouse where they could be physically stalked, discovery used to gain access to personal information, and to then publish “public records” online as a form of harassment.  I believe it was this type of behavior that caused Shelley Lubben’s husband to get fired, and to force them to relocate.  However, that still didn’t stop Michael Whiteacre from publishing a map to their new home online.  Now from publishing photos he’d paid the gardener to steal off a computer sitting on a desk in Shelley’s private bedroom.   I don’t think the photos were as disturbing as the knowledge someone had been in her home, in her bedroom, on her computer, and these photos wound up online.

Shelley announced she was abandoning Pink Cross shortly after these photos were published.  Enough is enough.  We can continue to act like victims and stick to ourselves and “go it alone”, or we can start banding together to do something to put a stop to this and expose them for what this really is.  Those women who need MORE help to exit the industry need us to keep going.  So for this reason I’m reaching out to you to ask that we consider ways to connect, compare notes, and see what can be done to stop this “pimp lobby” from what they’re trying to accomplish using illegal, deceitful, unethical, and abusive tactics against us.

If we can’t stand up to them and win – then how are we ever going to teach our members/clients how to do the same?

Thanks for listening.
