TITS AND SASS BLOG

For those of you who don't know about this blog, we have been reading it, and contributing to it, since it was launched.  Back in 2007 when we were having the fall-out with Melissa Farley, PhD, over the press conference fiasco, we were fully supported by the publication.  It allowed us to communicate to many sex workers, and advocates in the field, quickly what had gone down.

I am not the only person who contributes to this blog or uses this computer.  When we have members who don't have a computer, they use mine.  When we have members who don't want to worry about their IP address being tracked - they come and use mine.  We have volunteers in here constantly who help with the typing, the hotline, research, etc., on this computer.  I also am not the sole author of much of this material.

To protect the identities of ex-sex workers who don't want to risk people knowing it's them contributing something, they ask me to contribute thoughts on their behalf.  For example, the letter we provided to the Nevada Attorney General at the 2013 hearings on AB67 was a compilation of over 126 ex-sex workers who had worked in Nevada in both the legal and illegal sides of the sex industry.  Everyone's thoughts were put together into one letter signed "Sex Workers Anonymous" so that no one person had to worry about someone saying "I know who said that" and thus facing retribution.  There are many people within the sex workers' rights groups such as SWOP who don't want it revealed they are members - so to them they maintain their "anonymity" by contributing through my voice so that I get the fall-out - not them - in order for their voices to be heard.

Sex workers rights is supposed to be about empowerment, dignity and respect.  The anti-sex trafficking movement was started so that sex workers would not be targeted by pimps and traffickers and forced to be in the industry.  Everyone's thoughts, views, feelings, etc. are supposed to be respected and heard.

Well Tits & Sass is no longer about US but about conformity.  We went onto the site today to find that we were blocked.  Tits & Sass - our database of members right now is over 190,000.  We are the only program I'm aware of where sex workers who are victims of cops like Holtzclaw can come to us for help to live without fear and looking over their shoulder.  When Chris Butler was operating as a pimp and drug runner, threatening and extorting prostitutes, dancers, and madams - we helped to relocate 33 women to locations where him and his private investigators were not able to find them in order to threaten and/or harm them.

For over 12 years, we helped women between the ages of 16 and 21 to relocate to safety away from a man with IRS and police connections who were receiving death threats to them and their children from him and his cronies.  We set up the first "safe house" where those escaping a pimp when the police and shelters would not help them in 1984 that got me busted and nicknamed "High Tech Madam".  In 1994, I relocated to Nebraska and set up FIVE safe houses so women escaping violent pimps in a national operation could relocate with their children to safety, and are now living in their own homes, with their children in school, safe and sound.  Our hotline has answered over 500,000 calls from sex workers in crisis and we have been pushing for decriminalization for prostitution so that sex workers can call the cops when someone is threatening them, robbing them, blackmailing them, or otherwise trying to force or abuse them.

In Nevada alone, we filed over seven complaints against police officers for actions against a sex worker that was inappropriate or even illegal including against one vice officer who supposedly raped seven teenage prostitutes who was head of Las Vegas Vice at the time we made the complaint.  We filed a complaint against Lt. Karen Hughes when she was (1) head of Vice, (2) head of N. Las Vegas Police, (3) head of N. Las Vegas Internal Affairs, and (4) a member of the Southern Nevada Sex Trafficking Task Force all at the same time.

Within two months of us filing that complaint - she started working as private security at the Wynn and is no longer a police officer or on the board.  We filed a complaint against Chief Gillespie for his threats against sex workers and the man has stepped down now because of corruption charges.  Because of a complaint we filed against the Reno Chief of Police there is now an Internal Affairs Dept. in Reno that didn't exist prior.  An office which is now investigating complaints made by one officer against another for sexual harassment of a female officer.  We are currently fighting on behalf of a sex worker in Pasadena who was drug out of her home in front of her mother and son and slapped with two fake prostitution charges, and who threatened us to "back off" helping her.  I don't even know how many complaints we've made to the Bar about attorney's who have forced themselves sexually upon sex workers as "payment for services rendered".  This is only a partial list.

So you know what Katy?  Your blocking us from viewing your blog only says one thing to us.  It's not about OUR voice any longer as members of this community, but it's about YOUR views that YOU agree with being heard.

Katy and Tits & Sass contributors - we don't just stand up in front of microphones and call ourselves an "advocate" when it's easy.  We don't do it after holding fund raisers for $1,000's of dollars of your money as we don't charge for anything we do and we've never held one fund raiser.  We have done the tough work and the dangerous work and literally put our lives on the line for us.  When I have had my daughter run over by a friend of Metro police which broke her back in three places the day after we gave a press conference about sex trafficking existing in Nevada, and telling the world it wasn't just something that happened on street corners but could happen even in legal sex businesses so that they could get help and not be ignored help.  When I have had a bomb found in our outreach RV and had to move more than once because of police threats to our lives because of women who asked us for help to flee pimps with friends who were cops - we have literally put our lives on the line for sex workers' protection.

Therefore, we will no longer be trusting anything contained on your site at Tits N Sass as a reference anyway.  We will not be viewing it from other computers in the future anyway.   Anyone who can't allow ALL views to be heard and ALL sex workers to be respected and allow ALL voices to be heard and a discussion to happen - has become a tool of manipulation, propaganda, censorship and thus control.

So block away.  We no longer respect your blog after that act of control over others.
